Hi Folks,

Considering a trip back to the magic in May this year if we can manage it - we were lucky enough to go last April but I think it was right bang in the middle of Easter/Spring Break and I have never encountered crowds like that. One particular night at MK was really offputting as we just gave up trying to see the Electrical Parade and then found it almost impossible to get out of the park.

The dates we are looking at are 18th May until the end of May - does anyone have an educated guess as to what crowds will be like. I know it will be busier around Memorial weekend but what about before that?

Also in the past we have always stayed at values but thinking about a moderate this time....Port Orleans probably as it seems to get favourable reviews :) I wanted to know what the dining is like at either of the PO resorts as my son is quite a fussy eater....likes plain food!

Boatwrights is one of my favorites, but they have a lot of spicy dishes: http://allears.net/menu/menu_bwd.htm

Mid May can be a very good time of year. You'll want to check to see when the grad nights are at MK as MK will close early those nights.

Proms are held at Epcot, but it won't have an impact on you (it's fun to watch the kids walk in).

Grad Nights have been cancelled.

I've gone mid May and overall crowds are not bad. However, I've found Saturday nights at MK were very crowded, hard to get out after the parade & fireworks.

Ahh... Must be that not all sleeping hotel guests enjoy the sound of fireworks at midnight.

Yeah, the weekends will be much busier than weeknights. Several years ago we enjoyed a perfect Mid-May Sunday night a MK. Low crowds, perfect weather.

Thanks for that link as it allowed me to see the quick counter stuff available at Port Orleans and I think there is plenty he will eat there :cool1:

In the past I have mainly booked on the US website but it seems if I book through UK this time that there is free dining if I take a hotel and tickets package - is this available at the moment on the US website?

Disney still hosts Grad Nite..They no longer host the Grad Bash(which is the concert portion). My daughter will be attending Grad Nite in April and they are definitly going to the parks but the Grad Bash part is over at Universal now. Hers is scheduled for mid April.

We always go at the end of May, the week before Memorial Day and leaving around Memorial Day(give or take a day) and I have found that the week before is light to moderate on the attendance. I never follow the sites that say don't go to this park cause it has EMH. We attend the park with the EMH because that's when we get to ride our favorite rides. I've read that the earlier in May the better. We love going at the end of May because it's wonderful weather. It's never been boiling hot and it's only rained on us once(we grabbed our poncho's and made the best of it). Learn the Fastpass system if you aren't familiar with it and the busier it gets over the weekend, you'll be just fine. Also, Star Wars weekends are happening at that time so make sure you check out Hollywood Studios. I LOVE it! It does get very busy but the parade and seeing the characters are worth it.

We also stay at POR every visit(we're a family of 5). This year my oldest will not be going with us but we still chose to stay at POR. We like it there, we know how the buses work, we enjoy the food at the food court as well. You won't be disappointed by staying there. The walk from Alligator Bayou to the main hall is beautiful. Make sure to ride the boat to Downtown Disney if you've never done it. It's very relaxing. I'm so excited...I wanna go now!!

DBF & I went May 16-23 2011 & found that the crowds weren't that bad. It seemed to pick up towards the last few days of our trip. A lot of the crowd was their for Star Wars Weekends.

It's no longer a private event at Disney World.
