Microwave and fridges in RPR???

That's a wish of everyone on these boards, but no, it's extra. Like $15 a night for each.

You'll have to pre-game, visiting the grocery store before you check in and stock a cooler.

I just figured for that price you'd get these. Yes, I can bring a good size collapsible cooler. I will have a car and can stop at Walmart or grocery store on way in.

Still trying to convince DH it's worth it to pay twice as much to stay onsite.

The mini bar is a little fridge inside the tv cabinet/dresser. It's full of drinks and snacks but we took some of the drinks out and placed them on the dresser and put our own drinks in. We put all of the RPR stuff back in when we checked out and we did not get charged anything. We also bought 2 foam coolers at the grocery store for the things we couldn't fit into the little fridge. It's a lot cheaper than paying $15 per day for another small fridge.

Twice as much as a cheap offsite hotel? You betcha!!! Are you getting a AAA rate or some kind of discount already?

I can get two queen room for $184 but for 4 - 5 nights, it's $1000 which sounds like alot when I had originally budgeted $500.
I bought the adult and free kid passes in the spring since I didn't have faith they would offer it again.

I have gotten about 6 of the free movie/meal passes so that should help even if we decide not to see a movie. Trying to cut what we can so maybe this will be the big splurge.

They asked us at check-in if we wanted the mini bar key. I took the key cuz you never know when you may be desperate enough to drink a $6 can of Coke ! :smooth:

Sounds like you are doing a good job. Keep watching for lower rates though.

So were you charged just for taking the key? Or do they check your room at checkout to see if you drank any $6 cans of coke? I guess what I'm asking is, how do they know to charge you or not. What if i take the key, but then just use the mini-bar for drinks that I brought with me, setting the $6 cans of coke to the side until I am rady to leave (then putting them back)

We weren't charged anything just to take the mini bar key from the front desk. My understanding is that housekeeping checks the mini bar inventory when they come in to clean. I put the stuff from the mini bar out where the housekeeping staff could see it so they wouldn't think we used anything. Keep a close eye on your room charges. We had a $19 room charge hit our bill (you can check your room charges on the t.v.) so I called the front desk and they said that it was a mini bar fee and must have been from the previous guest. They removed the charge without question.

yeah right....they were trying to sneak it in on you.........

I thought I'd cheap out a bit and our last trip (Jan 06) we stayed at one of the closest off-site hotels. It was dirty, and that is the nicest thing I can say.....it was a hassle taking cabs to a from the parks (ran about $10-$12/day). When we have stayed onsite HRH, it was EXCELLENT, to be so close to the parks, FOTL--that speaks for itself- I will never again go and not stay onsite.... We will bring snacks/drinks etc but I will always alot to stay onsite for ever more!!

Right, and the thing is, at the PBH they leave two bottles of water on the table. We only had one and thought that was it. The final paper put under the door at check out was fine, but then when I got home I noticed there was an extra charge. It was for the water bottle and a movie that was watched right as we were checking out. I explained there was only one bottle and how could someone watch a movie when we were leaving. They removed the charges. So yeah, you need to check the bill when you get home.

As for the offsite hotels, I've had good luck with the Best Western, and Amerisuites across the street. The Hilton Garden Inn is also fairly new and clean. But yeah, nothing compares to staying onsite and being part of the action with the pools, short walk to the parks, and UEPs.

If you spend the time, and stock a cooler before checking in, then you're all set for a great visit.
