So we're going down to the world 11/30 - 12/5, staying in a studio at AKV (Kidani), and we want to go to a Very Merry Christmas party......

Do we need to book those tickets now? Do you think they will sell out?

I know there is a party on that Thursday (12/2) and I would imagine that that night will be the least crowded.

We bought tickets after we arrived, I would not count on any of them being less crowded. The night we went it was packed.

Ok. Thanks for the tip. MS kind of implied that I should buy the tickets now because they're going to sell out.

That early in December, I doubt if you need to worry about a sell out.

Can I ask why you think Thursday would be the least crowded? I'm coming 11/29 - 12/4 and was thinking that maybe Tuesday would be less crowded. But since I've never been, I have no idea :confused3

Plan on a crowd for any night and then be happy when there are fewer people. A lot will depend on weather as I don't think locals buy their tickets in advance. Many of us who travel don't buy in advance, either.

As for me and my family, we will be there on Dec 5th! I'm a planner and I just can't wait until the last minute. I wanted the DVC/AP discount for the tickets, too.

The nights later in the month will sell out more quickly than those earlier in the month. If you keep an eye on the boards, you should see posts about sell outs (if they are occurring). If you see those posts, then you can decide if you are willing to risk a sell out for your preferred dates. In our experience (late November - early December only), there hasn't been much difference in crowd levels between Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays. Day of week can vary some from year to year, but so far none on Wednesdays in the years we've gone

When we go in early December, we wait until the weather forecasts start to include our date. MVMCP is NOT much fun when it's cold (40's or 50's) or raining, especially since the parade and fireworks could get canceled. Also, the tickets are not refundable, so if you buy far in advance and then can't go, you will be out the $$ unless you can find someone else to buy them from you.

We aarrive on Dec 19'th and since it is the last party, and I have noticed from previous years that the last one always seems to sell out, I have purchased mine already.

Carol, I remember going to a party in 2002 and had three tickets for the MVMCP. Again being the compulsive planner, I had purchased them ahead of time. Due to school commitments, my daughter could not come along with us and when I went to pick up my tickets and told them that I only needed 2 tix due to my daughters situation, the castmember gave me a credit back. Then the night of the party, it rained so hard that everything was cancelled. The next party we were allowed to show our old ticket and attend it. There must have been pixie dust all around us as this is not the norm and you are right, they tell you when you purchase the tickets that they are "non refundable"

:) We have already bought tickets for 12/02 and 12/07. We do buy in advance for our hard event tickets. We haven't decided about 12/09 yet, DH loves the parties. I think two is enough.

However if you think you might be attending by all means have your ADRs for that evening done at first chance. We have Plaza Restaurant and WCC for our party nights. We reserve at 5:00 p.m., great time to eat and when you are through get right on over for the first parade.

We bought our tickets last week when we hit the 180 day window and were booking ADRs.

Never been to the Christmas party. Can't wait. Now if Disney would just release the candlelight processional dinner packages

We are considering buying tickets for the first day - November 8th. Any thoughts on since it will be the first one if it would be super crowded? That is a Monday - does that matter? Thanks!

Well, I have to disagree with that. ;)

In 2007, we went from the 1st - 9th and every party was sold out.
In 2009, we visited from the 1st - 13th and every party was sold out.

How do I know? Traveling on the monorail allowed us to see the boards in front of MK and each night they had a sign noted that the party was sold-out. :thumbsup2 It could have been sold-out the day off, but there were still no tickets.

The one down side of buying early is the weather. We had tickets for the MVMCP last year before a Disney cruise and it POURED! (Like biblical plague kinda rain) but the event, for some unknown reason wasn't considered "rained out". We asked what to do at the concierge at the hotel and they told us to turn the tickets in toward the purchase of a park ticket after the cruise (we weren't there on any other party nights). Well, after a very, very, very long wait at guest services they supposedly exchanged the tickets for park tickets (reluctantly since, as I mentioned, it wasn't technically a "rain out"). When we went to the turnstiles, though, they wouldn't work so back to guest services we went and they FINALLY got them to transferred.

That being said, we just bought tickets to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. We are praying the rain doesn't decide to go to!
