Anyone know how long the characters stay around for? All night?

My SIL and I have tickets for the Tomorrowland Dessert Party on our MVMCP night. We'll let the young 'uns run around and do the characters. (plus we may have a very tired 20 month old). Is the terrace a good viewing spot for the parade?
If the little ones can hold out until the second parade, you can usually get a good spot at the end of Main Street with little waiting. Also, watching from Frontierland is usually a good spot with lower crowds, but you will miss out on the snow here. What is the best place to grab a good spot for the parade? That doesn't require more than about 30 minutes to wait? I'm going to be with a 2 year old and I'm not sure how patient he will be late at night.

The Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party is held in the Tomorrowland Terrace restaurant. There are a limited number of seats available with a plentiful dessert spread and a private view of Wishes. We did the party in October and it was great to be able to sit down and relax and have our own spot to watch the fireworks instead of staking out a spot in advance and standing shoulder-to-shoulder on Main Street! Unless you are seated right on the railing, you will still likely have to stand to get a good view of the fireworks, but there is plenty of room for all who want to stand at the railing to do so. It is not a direct view of the castle, so if you want a "perfect" view or photos, you won't get that here. But Tink does fly right over your head, which is pretty awesome! What's this desert party and what does it entail
It's also going to be our base while the young ones run around and do the characters, but you can come and go from what I understand. It is pretty well sold out, but you can check on the Dining Reservations board and people drop them all the time. They will sometimes coordinate with you to help you get it. For me, I am thrilled to have it but not necessarily on a MVMCP night as it takes up valuable time you could spend getting autographs or seeing the special events. However, I will have my SIL (who doesn't ride rides and has some health issues), and a 20 month old, so we may just enjoy the terrace while the others run around. What's this desert party and what does it entail
I'm going to the party for TWO days
My new plan between two days is to get:
Mickey
Minnie
Goofy
Donald Scrooge Daisy
Santa
7 Dwarfs
Day 2
Sandy Claws
Anna & Elsa
The Genie
Cinderella & Rapunzel
Snow White & Prince
With 2 days now I can relax and enjoy the party without rushing![]()
You can come and go, that's correct, but you cannot check in until roughly an hour before the start of the fireworks. After the fireworks end, they will not kick you out, but the place clears out pretty quickly. It's also going to be our base while the young ones run around and do the characters, but you can come and go from what I understand.
