Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Central 2005

You can add my family to the Dec. 4th MVMCP. We purchased our tickets two days ago. Yeah, staying at BC & GF. Would like to have dinner at CRT that evening. :Pinkbounc

We're arriving on Dec. 17 and will be going to MVMCP on the 18th for the first time. I don't really know much about it so any info will be helpful. Speaking of more info, this may be a stupid question but what is AR?

gottaluvEeeyore,

AR is "advanced reservation," Disney recently started using this term for priority seating. You can use either term, means the same thing: you book a time at a sit-down restaurant up to 90 days from the date you want to eat there, arrive at that time and get the next available table (no credit card needed to reserve unless it's for a dinner and show package).

Has anyone got Disney to switch dates on the MVMMCP tickets? We brought tickets for Dec 4 but had to change plans to later in the month. We currently have tickets for Dec 4 and need to switch them to Dec 18.

Thanks

Hello all,

Thank you for asking and answering a lot of great questions. I have few questions of my own:

First of all, I found out (through the course of this thread) that my family and I are going to WDW the week of Pop Warner (we are going 12/4-12/11). From the comments I have seen it appears that they have little or no affect to overall crowd attendance in the parks. Do any of you WDW veterans agree with that observation?

Secondly, would you say that it is just isolated instances of kids acing crazy at the resorts (We are staying at All Star Movies) or, is it very common? I ask because, unfortunately, my itinerary is locked in place schedule wise and I can't adjust to another week. I did a lot of research and found that early December is one of the best times to go (decorations are up, x-mas time, low crowds, etc...). If I know ahead of time that there are going to be a million obnoxious little ones then I feel I can be more prepared.

Lastly, in regards to crowd size, is the first full week in December a good time to go? I am afraid if everyone is saying the first two weeks in Decemeber are relatively quiet then everyone would be going then as well. Any WDW vets go the first week of December the last few years? If so, how have the crowds been?

Thank you all for reading my thoughts/questions.

From what I remember last year, Disney would change your dates for you as long as the night that you wanted to switch to wasn't sold out.

Thanks for the info regarding AR. I didn't realize that I could make dinner reservations now for the 18th of December. I thought I had to wait for 90 days prior.

This may have been posted, but does anyone have the historical park hours for Dec?

Thanks!

YIPPEE! Put us on the list for 12/8, LTT @ 5:40!! :goodvibes DS's marching band will be doing the afternoon parade that day and the Wind Ensemble will perform on 12/9 at the Galaxy Theater near Buzz Lightyear. I'm so excited! We've never been to WDW for the holidays, and I can't wait to see the parks all decorated. We're staying at WL, too. And I'll be in tears when I see my DS marching right down the middle of Main Street USA!!! :earsboy:

First off, welcome to the Dis, Disney Dadd!
To answer some questions:

You will see a difference at All Star Movies, where you plan on staying. Many of the Pop Warner participants stay at the values. The attendance levels in the parks are not effected much, but being at WDW during Pop Warner is not exactly my favorite time (although I will not let it deter me from going!). There are a lot more teenagers in the parks, and some of them can get a bit rowdy, such as loud cheering in queues, cartwheels in the streets, things like that, but it can be pretty isolated. We really had no problems until we went to MK, and that is the one day we experienced all the actions listed above.

It's pretty isolated, so I would say be prepared, but don't worry much about it. No matter where you go and when, you will always run the risk of people being a bit obnoxious around you. We stayed at All Star Music during Pop one year and it was not bad, except some kids do seem to be a bit louder in groups walking around the resort, early morning or late night. Pools seem to get a bit more crowded too.

We were in WDW for our wedding and honeymoon the first week of last December, and I went Dec. 2003 with a friend. It is a great time to go! We plan on doing an annual trip every year, but only during the first and second week of December (as you see, Pop is not deterring me at all!). Biggest wait you will have for most attractions is about 20 minutes usually. We made PSs for all of our meals last year, but did not need them most of the time (but I will keep making them, just in case). Just be sure to avoid MK on weekends, as it gets pretty crowded no matter what time of year you go.

We're planning our first Christmas trip and I see that some folks have ordered their MVMCP tickets on-line. I cannot find where this can be done. Can anyone help me?

Thanks!!!! I'm trying for Dec. 18. Yipeee!

YOu can order online at : http://tickets.disney.go.com/buy/TicketTrans#subcat2

BUT it will show no availability online for Dec. 18........they had it yesterday but this morning it was gone...........BUT, I called & was able to purchase them over the phone...so it won't hurt to call. Operator said that online will sell out first and that they don't have any idea how many are left until the sold out comes up....when I called for dates: 12/16; 12/18 or 12/20...only 16 & 18 were left.
hope this helps.

Thanks to your prompt reply to my question, I WAS able to get tickets for Dec. 18! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was nearly panicked when I realized how slim the pickings were getting.

I was also able to get ARs for LTT at 6:35. I was hoping for something a little earlier, but feel lucky to have these. I'm thinking of trying Crystal Palace 90 days out to see if we can in earlier. My son and I have been to CP before and LOVED it. We've also eaten at LTT, but not when characters were there.

Any thoughts on this part of My Very Exciting Christmas?

Thanks all!
