Mickey's So Long Summer Cruise 2.0

We're getting so close! I can't believe it. I don't feel prepared for this trip at all. I have so much packing to do. The list keeps getting longer and longer. I started packing, but I can't get serious!

What's everyones plans pre and post cruise?

We arrive Friday, the 12th. Staying at Wilderness Lodge. Doing WDW and Universal. Cruise (no brainer). Then back to Beach Club for a few days, we leave the 23rd.

HI All!
just back from a weekend at the beach...went to long beach, Long Island....it sure was a hot one! It was a great way to get acclimated to Florida weather, I guess!! Had a great time, and had fun while working on my tan!!

We will be in Florida on the 13th and will stay at CIS in Cocoa Beach-- Doing a beach day at Ron Jons and Kennedy Space Center. Post cruise we are just staying at a CIS near MCO and will head home on the 22nd.
I can't believe we only have 3 weeks left!

Trying to figure out what to wear for semi formal night.....

We come in on the 12th and may do a day or two at the parks. I use my timeshare which is 5 minutes from DW. We are dropping off the rental on Tuesday morning at the port and taking the shuttle for our 11:00 a.m. arrival time.

Coming straight home after the cruise so that oldest DD can move into her apartment for college.

This weekend has been crazy:scared1: Car needed to be inspected $$$, Freezer in the basement is going bad and went to Sears $$$ and this evening my wife informs me that the washing machine broke and she is online getting ready to buy new matching washer and dryer:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Well, it's off to work tomorrow to pay for these new bills:thumbsup2

First we booked the Radisson at Port Canaveral (Cancelled), then we booked the Residence Inn at Port Canaveral (Cancelled) and finally priced out my time share at Celebration and got a two bed room Condo for $100.00 a night:thumbsup2

We did KSC last year and loved it:love:

Where is everyone going for the embarkation lunch:confused3 Trying to decide whether we will go to EG or Cabannas? I'm leaning towards EG because it is a little like PC and they will bring you your drinks.

I'm also thinking that it will take a couple of meals at Cabannas for people to figure out that they don't have to stand in one line when many of the stations have the same food.

What are your thoughts???

That's an expensive weekend,

It was brutal in NYC this weekend!

Semi formal night Eric is wearing a suit. Mikayla has a pretty dress and I'm wearing a sequined LBD I got at Michael Kors!

I'm more worried about which bar to hit first!! Screw the food! Lol

We'll probably head to Cabanas because of the selection.

I don't know why Cigy hasn't posted, but I know where he'll be on the cruise...pushing a stroller!

I need to get behind the business end of a suitcase! 17 days and I'm out!

Going shopping today, shocking! No appliances for me!! Mommy needs clothes that fit and a new handbag, Holla!

The ladies got their handbags over the last few weeks. UPS has been dropping off boxes from DB and Coach:scared1:

They keep telling me that they had a great sale;)

I am thinking we will be doing cabanas because my kids want to get right on the aquaduck before it gets too crowded. If we get an early boarding number, would hope the lines would be low....

I need to get myself to stop worrying about the port arrivals and the overall crowded feel that I think I am going to experience over the Magic. Especially with the pools. I know there is nothing I can do about it, so why must I constantly worry:confused3

Just everyone keep your fingers crossed for me that DS will stay in the kids clubs for more than 20 minutes so I can spend some time at the adult areas!

I'm from Philly so crowds are relative:rotfl:

That is why we booked connecting verendah cabins so that when the people get to be too much, we will chill out there.

My youngest DD will be 11 on this trip and she is the only DD that will go to the clubs. She makes friends easily like her DF:) But if the clubs are anything like they have described, you should get some much needed adult time:thumbsup2

OK...this will be my first time booking a cruise while on board, so want to do this the right way....for certain it will be a dummy cruise I am booking, as I don't have plans to cruise next year...plus the prices of the cruises are too high for me, so would think that I would move this to when they announce 2013 cruises, or if they ever did a kids sail free offer.

So-- I am guessing that it is best for me to book the cheapest cruise. There are 5 of us.
what about booking the December 2011 kids sail free offer for the mexican riveria? do you think It is better for me to book one room for the 5 of us, or 2 rooms?

Any advice?

If you know the type of ship that you plan to book (i.e. Classic or Dream Class) and the itinerary that you are thinking about selecting that would be a start.

I would also have in my mind the category that I plan to select as this will help regarding the need for two cabins or one. Remember on the Classic ships, you could get a veranda with a room accross the hall. The Dream class ships have a lot more opportunities for connecting cabins and remember in this class of ship sometimes the ocean view cabins are cheaper than the inside staterooms:thumbsup2

Also before booking since you know this will be a dummy date, ask the CM if there are any new rules about changing the dates:confused3 It's always best to ask instead of assuming anything:)

Picked up the new Freezer last night and after some bonding time with the wife trying to find out how to get it through the basement door:headache: We got it set up, cleaned and filled.

This morning the washer and dryer come:scared1: Whoa!!! they are impressive:thumbsup2

When they removed the washer and dryer, We took the old freezer and put it in the garage until trash day. Washer comes in and is set up perfect! Dryer is brought in and the vent hook up is in the wrong place:confused:

The service men bring back in the old dryer and hook it up until the new dryer can be altered:thumbsup2 We tip the service men and just before they leave, they have a problem putting the back door on the hinges so that it will close properly:eek:

Now I have to call my handy man to fix it because the service men warned us that they are not responsible if they take the door off the hinges.

The good news, 17 days until I leave for Florida:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I'm stressing over the crowds too, so you're not alone. The pools seem more like puddles on a ship that size.

I don't know why DCL is making port arrival into a federal case. I've cruised other lines and walked right on board.

Don't worry about DS staying in the kids' club, we'll hook him up with my DD and she'll nail his foot to the floor.

I plan to make Meridan's my cabin away from home.

My DD will be 9.75 years old. She would love to hang out with your DD. My kid is so like me, loud, outgoing, the ring leader... need I say more? lol
