"Mickey's" Philharmagic is really...

I really, really wish I could enjoy this!!! I went once right after it first opened and got motion sick and had a really, really terrible anxiety attack and had to run out during be our guest. I was really disappointed bc I had been looking forward to it ever since it was first announced. It would normally be exactly the kind of thing I love but I've been too scared to go again since that first attempt nearly 4 (or is it 5???) years ago. I always kind of shut my eyes and walk past it really fast. :( My mom doesn't say anything bc she knows how sick I got but she really loved it so I feel bad about being too chicken to do it again. Maybe I'll try again in December!!!

Lets see if we can't get you to enjoy this one!!

Just put on the "Opera Glasses" (3D glasses) BUT...

Keep one eye CLOSED.

You will see only a regular movie with no 3D effects.

It requires the use of both eyes to see the 3D effects.
With one eye, it just looks like any other film.

You could even bring in some aluminum foil or some paper or something to
put over one side of the glasses, then you wouldn't even have to keep
one eye shut.
That eye would be blocked and you could enjoy the film.

Definitely agree! This is the one attraction we do every day we spend at the MK. I never get tired of it! It is beautiful and very entertaining. It's my favorite attraction.

I wish they would upgrade the other 3D shows in EPCOT and Studios. They just don't even compare.

The first thing she did after leaving the show was to call my dad with tears in her eyes saying she had seen what she never thought she could. It is a special memory for us. :wizard:

LOVE this!

Thank you! I'll try that! When I first started to feel woozy I took the glasses OFF just for a minute to look at the floor (that sometimes helps steady me) and I looked up for a second and...well, it just made the feeling much much worse! I really want to enjoy it so thank you so much for the tip!! I never knew that about 3D!
The only issue is that I have a severe anxiety disorder and sometimes just going back to the place (or a similar situation) where I've had one attack in the past is enough to spark one. But maybe I'll be able to relax enough and get into the story/movie enough to overcome it! I really hope so!!

Be sure to sit in a different spot.

Maybe in the back row?

This is so true, and important for people to know that are thinking of skipping the show because of vision problems in one eye.

My mother is blind in one eye, and has never been able to see a 3D movie before. I explained that I heard she could still see this one, but she couldn't imagine how, and really didn't believe me but "humored" me and agreed to go and see it. She sat there good natured in the beginning because it takes a while for the first 3D affect to happen, but when it did!! She threw her hand up to block the flute from hitting her! She was so excited after that!! It was like a seeing a kid at Christmas. She leaned over during the show and asked if the characters were in front of everyone, or did she have a "special seat" and they were just in front of her... awww... :goodvibes I was so happy for her. The first thing she did after leaving the show was to call my dad with tears in her eyes saying she had seen what she never thought she could. It is a special memory for us. :wizard:
Very touching story! I am so excited for you and you mother that I could jump up and down for both of you. What a wonderful experience and memory to have together.

Yes he can!!!! My son has SIGNIFICANT strabismus. He does not have binocular vision.

We avoided this on our first trip because we thought he wouldn't be able to see in 3D. On our second trip we took our niece and I wanted her to see it.... we warned DS(6 at the time) that he may not get to see it.

He did see it!!!! He saw it all in 3D. It was incredible watching him do something we were told would never happen.

So.... give it a try!!!!

BTW... my son is going in for his 4th strabismus surgery on August 20th. This time we are just working on his left eye. We are going to WDW on Sept 14th. We decided to squeeze in this surgery before our trip because we wanted to give him the best opportunity at seeing in 3D again.
OMG you guys! Another touching story. I am afraid to continue reading for fear I will be in full tears soon. I am so excited for you and your son. I am also paraying for a successful surgery and many more touching miraculous stories ahead of you!

I am VERY Nearsighted in my Right eye, and I place the 3D glasses OVER my regular glasses, and have NO problems, other than my eyes "watering a bit" when I see certain scenes.;)

This is definitely the best 3d movie at disney. We were told before we went that if you want to know what WDW and the magic of Disney is all about, Philharmagic is the ride/show that will do it for you! It is truely something straight out of the classic Disney mold.

I was JUST thinking, "I'm going to start a thread about PhilharMagic" because I thought it was absolutely spectacular! SO jumped when food started flying during, "Be Our Guest" and I thought it so adorable. We felt like such big kids there because all of those movies meant so much to us when we were little. I remember going to see Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Lion King and Beauty and the Beast in theaters and Peter Pan is probably my absolute favorite classic Disney movie. My GOSH I've only been home for 3 days and I could cry I miss it so much!

I've always thought it should be Donald's Philaharmagic too.

If the scents and air come out of the back of the seat in front of you, what about the people in the front row?

I have to say this attraction chokes me up EVERYTIME and I really have no idea why! I truly love it though.:goodvibes

Im pretty sure there are posts in front of the front row that contain the technology too.

I love this ride. It is the only ride I have to do twice when we go down.
