The current track has the tropical storm exiting right at Port Canaveral. I was wondering how the Wonder is doing. Last night they were showing 10ft seas in the carribean.

Ok, all this talk of rough seas, does anyone take anything for motion sickness? I have cruised once and didn't have any problems, but I do get motion sick (dont' do tea cups, even carosel at times) so do you recommend I take somethign? If so, what? I do not want to feel 'drugged' and not get to enjoy ourselves.

Everyone talks about this bonine stuff but I have never taken it before. I do get motion sickness from time to time so I want to be prepared as well. I think I will get the Bonine to be safe since Dramamine tends to have a drowsy side effect for me. I am worried about DS though. Cause it's not like a 23 month old can say he feels sea sick. I may call the pediatrician to see what they recommend. Anyone with lil ones what did you do for them??

Hey all! Everything is nice and boring here. Well weather wise anyway. With 6 kids home from school and inside all day it's far from boring in that sense.

It isn't even raining here. I am so glad all is well with you too Dawn. This path is what I was hoping for. I had a feeling it may go this way.

Hayley have a safe trip and have fun at WDW! That will be hard I know. ;)

I have just been helping the kids with homework. My 6 year olds had projects to do before Friday so, I figured I should get them done.

It's really a shame that my county called off school for 2 days for this. Now they will lose 2 days of Thansgiving break. I'm also thinking now they have to make up work and the teachers will not be happy about them missing 3-4 days in Sept. Oh well. No more taking days off of school for vacations--I can't deal with the stress  We have a DCL 7 night booked for 11/14/09 but, I think we are going to move that to 2010 when the dates come out. Something not during the school year. My oldest will be in High school by then. My oldest 2 are in the gifted program and that is a lot of work to make up. Anyway, sorry to veer so far off course on that one! :upsidedow

Have a great day everyone!

My mom and her boyfriend get really sea sick. She can't take any of the meds because they make her sick. She bought sea sickness bands and ginger pills. I have read on a ton of posts from this board and others that ginger really does the trick. I can also tell you that working in a medical office I get tons of calls for an rx that is a patch that goes behind the ear. I have not heard of the drowsiness side effect with that but everyone is diffrent. As for the kids, I don't think they will get sea sick but we bought some sea sickness bands for them as well.

Thanks guys ;)

OK, I'm off for real now - just popped quickly whilst I was doing the check-in online for our flight tomorrow!

We're off to the airport later - not long to go now guys!! I'll miss chatting to you and getting excited about the cruise, but I'll pop on when I can!

BYE!! :teeth:

So I was told there are 2 more tropical systems they are watching. :scared1: I said that was fine but they need to clear out within 17 days! I read a post from one person who said they were on the Disney cruise for four extra days due to a hurricane one season. Now THAT I wouldn't mind!

Dawn,

I certainly hope no problems for us!!!!! I do not want any storms. We've always gone to Disney in late August or early September and never had more than the typical afternoon rain. Hope this time is no different!

Only 6 more working days before my vacation. We have a public holiday in UK on Monday and for once I do not have to work on it.
I nearly had kittens at work today. As you kn ow, I work for an airline and found out that the baggage handlers at our local airport will be on strike two days over the next two weeks. I got very worried. I am so excited about this vacation. Fortunately for us the dates have now been confirmed as August 27th and September 1st. We are flying out on August 31st so we should be OK.

Concerning the weather, as of right now the NOAA ( National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration)(i think:confused3 ) website :surfweb: only shows 1 area of interest over the next 48 hours. Of course we have 432 hours to go. But who's counting.

Just another day of clouds and kids home today--perfect combo :headache:

Doesn't Lake County and mother nature for that matter realize I have FE gifts to buy?!? It's getting so close. Let's hope that's it for storms.

Mary, your kids still didn't have school today? Are you still getting bad weather? This storm has been crazy!
I did not take Dale's advice and looked at the web cam anyway.:teeth: Pretty breezy to put it mildly.
Here is hoping we cruise inbetween the storms! It is sort of looking like a very active second part of the season.:scared: I guess I'll be getting lots of practice w/ the storm shutters.
Ok, so what would you parents do with this one......Christopher wakes up this morning and exclaims that the tooth fairy did not bring him any money. I asked if he lost a tooth. He said yes. I asked why he didn't tell me. He said he was doing an experiment to see if I was the tooth fairy and it worked. :headache: I told him maybe the tooth fairy got blown off course by tropical storm Fay:rolleyes1 but he isn't buying it. This would be the child I'm trying to hide a cruise from.

"Tropical Weather Update

As of August 20, 2008

We are currently monitoring Tropical Storm Fay very closely.

Tropical Storm Fay has stalled along the eastern portion of Florida near our homeport of Port Canaveral and its path is uncertain.

For this reason, Port Canaveral has been closed to vessel traffic by the Port Authority and the August 21, 2008 sailing of the Disney Wonder will set sail on its 3-night itinerary from Fort Lauderdale, Florida — Port Everglades.

Other than the departure port change, we do not anticipate any additional changes in the upcoming Disney Wonder itinerary. Transportation will be provided for guests with transfers and those arriving by private vehicle at Port Canaveral. It is important that guests still park at our terminal in Port Canaveral as the ship will be returning there on Sunday, August 24, 2008. "

Dawn Al and I forget 50% of the time about the tooth so our kids know it takes 2-3 tries before they get anything.:wizard: I would simply say "oh that explains it. When you don't believe you don't get any money" It may be too late though because you already had the exchange with him. He is getting to that age where they kind of figure things out. A lot of times it is the kids at school that spill the beans. We go through this every year at Christmas with my kids. My boys are the only ones that still believe. Once the older ones know they tend to tell the others. It's sad I know.

My kids had today off too. I think Lake county jumped the gun on Monday and called off Tuesday and today on Monday. So then they were stuck with the 2 days off. I think in the future they will take it day by day. We really had no tropical weather here. Just clouds and very little rain. We get more wind and rain with an afternoon storm.

Don't get stressed about our trip Dis friends! That won't make a storm not come trust me. Let's wait and see. Think positive. We will have nice weather, we will have nice weather, we will have nice weather....:woohoo:

:thumbsup2: I am jumping on your band wagon and thinking positive thoughts!!!

:dance3: We will have nice weather. :cheer2: We will have nice weather. pirate: We will have nice weather!

Hi,

Just trying to get organized and get the Fish Extender gifts started.....Mary, will you tell me again your hubby and kids names that are traveling with you!

Thanks,

Only two more weeks (and 1/2 day) of work left!!!!! Oh, I cannot wait. I am NOT watching the weather. I don't want to know right now! So much can change in a matter of days, let alone two weeks. We are flying in the morning before, so we shouldn't (praying) have any problems. I really hope that we do get to leave from our Port, as leaving from the other one, makes it such a late sail away :(

Ok folks, you are stressing to much:headache:  :scared1: It's time for "Coach Dale" to interract :worship: :worship: There will be NO storm related problems. There are only inconveniences. We WILL survive :woohoo: When the going gets tough only the tough will thrive  The adventurous will create adventures. The fearful will create fear. Be ye not fearful:goodvibes Be ye adventurous:banana: If it rains, put on a bathing suit and enjoy. Sing a song in the rain. Walk hand in hand in the rain. Splash in a puddle.:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Be crazy take some soap and shampoo with you. Finally DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY for "Coach Dale" has spoken.:worship: Besides maybe we will have to stay out to sea longer.
