I finally gotten around to do my trip report for Dubai. I have posted that on our Yahoo Group.

Corrina,

Your trip sounds amazing! Sorry hubby didn't get to meet up with you. Can't wait to meet all these world travelers!

I have read a lot of talk about laynards on the ship. How great they are to have to carry your KTTW card ect. I have one that I have had forever that I soppose would work for me. My question is......I found these on ebay that I thought might be cute for the boys. I know they could use them in the parks but my bigger question is would they be useful on the ship? :confused3 http://cgi.ebay.com/Mickey-Mouse-Go...photoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

Dawn,

I don't have a lanyard and looked at ordering them for hubby and I (since I don't always have pockets and dont' want to carry a purse around the ship) thought they would be nice to have, but haven't gotten around to it (and wondered if we would really use them).

Any previous cruiser comments?

Thanks for keeping us updated. This said for 90 days, and we are sailing right after that, not sure if we'll be on that schedule or back to normal.

Looks like I have to put the cruise planning on hold for a few days. I found out yesterday that I have my assessment day for a team leader position tomorrow. So I have crossed the first hurdle. I had to do an online assessment at home yesterday and at the moment I have no idea what they are going to throw at us tomorrow. If I get through tomorrow, I will have an individual interview as well sometime within the next few days. Today I have a day off and I am about to head downtown. I have decided to have a long overdue hair cut and I will also treat myself to new work outfit. I am a bit superstitious. Every time I got a new outfit for an interview I got the job that I interviewed for.

Good luck today (and this week) Corrina! Keep us posted!

Right, I got my nails done, had my hair cut, bought two new pants suits and a new top plus a new pair of shoes. So all I have to do is choose some nice understated jewelery to wear from my considerable collection, have a bath and an early night and I should be good to go.

Hi, Everyone,

It's good to sit down and spend time here at the thread. I've got soup on the stove, bread in the oven, and clothes in the dryer, so I have about ten minutes left to check on everyone here before something starts to boil, burn or beep.

I'm sorry to hear about Dawn's last-minute exclusion from her much anticipated excursion. I don't know if I'd rebound so fast. Maybe I would with the promise of a next time in the near future, but I don't know for sure. Dawn, when you do go, I hope the weather is more inviting and worth the wait. Have you stuck to your guns about that dog?

Corinna's trip report on Dubai was great. It sounds like my kind of trip minus the sunburn and the disappointing shopping. To go to an exotic place and not find good shopping would be really disappointing. If the food and the scenery are good, the trip was worth it. I would have been irritated by the screaming woman putting the kabash on the dune ride. I guess I have some character issues to work on in that regard. As for the shopping, I would have been anticipating a Middle East scenario like in the movies with crowded open markets and lots of curious if not questionably legal things to buy and take home. I had a similar experience in Costa Rica. There was an arts & crafts bazaar in the area that was the real deal and I enjoyed very much, and the cook at the place where I stayed took my friend and me to a farmer's market where he shops, but most of the shopping was no different than being at home.

Patty, I'm sorry to hear about your poor pug. I don't know what to say. So sad. Did you post a picture of your dress? I read quickly and missed if you did or didn't.

Soup's ready! Gotta go eat before I leave for work. No time for a nap tonight, so I'm going to make some coffee. Does that really work for keeping a person awake? I'm hoping so.

Monica

P.S. Lanyards - The first time, we bought a zip pouch lanyard at Walmart for about 2.00 each and it worked great for holding our cards. Onboard, I bought these http://www.thewaterproofstore.com/cardcase.html but it had the DCL logo. Very useful at Castaway Cay.

Hey Corrina how did the interview go? Hope that your new outfit helped.

Monica, I didn't post a photo here (have it in my Planning Journal). I'll email you a link. Abbey is adjusting to being blind (so much easier than a person would I am sure). We are going to see a specialist next week, so I'll keep you posted.

Heading to the y to do our 5k training (didn't go this am, so a rare evening workout is in order). Have a good evening. Only 108 days!!!!!

108 days!!! almost down to double digits!! :woohoo: I'm so proud of you for working out Patricia! You have been doing great! :cheer2: :cheer2: I'm still stuck in my rut but I'll get there eventually. :)
Monica, I hope you can manage some rest soon! Coffee always did wonders for me and I hear the drinks such as full throttle working amazingly well also for keeping one awake. Thanks for the kudos on the rebounding. I had a pity party Friday. I went out to dinner with my boys Nana. She was due to go to London a few years ago and 3 days before she was to leave for the trip of her dreams her sister broke her pelvis and they had to cancel the whole thing. I knew she could share my pain. After that, I set my sights on the future. I still have this great cruise to look forward to, a hopeful trip to India in Novemeber, and my brother and I are going to try and do a weekend trip again in July. He threw out maybe going to Japan or Tel Avi. We shall see :) So far, I have stuck to my guns with the dog. It is getting harder because he is still there. I keep hoping someone will rescue him before he gets destroyed. I emailed a local Siberian Husky Rescue but I got no reply. I offered to pay the adoption fee and foster the dog if they would help find him a home but no response. :sad2: Quite honestly, I would go get him this weekend but the one reason I don't (besides not needing a 3rd dog) is I couldn't ask my boys Nana to watch a 3rd dog during all the times I won't be home (which are becoming substantial). I have to admit if she told me she wouldn't mind I'd be bringing Zero home like the sap I am. :headache:
I went ahead and bought those lanyards for the boys. I figure they can use them around Disney World. We are due at AK next week. anyone have any Memorial Day weekend plans? The only thing I have going on is a kitty round up.....they have to go to the vet for their annual shots and Sunday is Chase's fourth birthday party (1st of 3 lucky boy).

We're attending the Camp Council Girls' Third Annual Reunion Retreat. Former campers, counselors and administrators (and their families if they bring them) get together at a camp up in the Poconos for three days to relive the fun of our camp days. (Our camp operated from 1926-186) We do as many of the things we did at camp when we were younger as possible - swim, play jacks, do arts and crafts, play games, have scavenger hunts, sing songs, have campfires, etc. We even have a pajama breakfast one morning. The only new activity we've added that wasn't a camp tradition is happy hour on Sunday afternoon before dinner. :rotfl:

It is because of the internet that these reunions started. In fact, it was 20 years after the close of camp (in 1986) that we had the first reunion. Apparently, someone mentioned Camp Council on their blog site and another former camper happened to read that blog. Suddenly, people were finding it and each other. A Camp Council blog site was created. As you can imagine when old friends with bonds of a shared childhood find each other the first reunion is quite emotional.

So, that's what we're doing for Memorial Day weekend, we're going to camp.

Monica,

Sounds like you'll have a great weekend. Weather is supposed to be great! I know what you mean about connecting with childhood friends. One of my workout buddies is a girl I met in 5th grade when I moved. We were friends all through school, but lost touch after graduation. Reconnected about 15 years ago or so and lost touch again. Then 'found' each other again in October (after probably 10 or more years). It's so awesome to pick up right where we left off.

I have no plans this weekend. Hubby asked if we were going to the beach on Sunday (but I think it'll be a little chilly). We might take a ride down and do the board walk or something.

I think and hope that I did OK yesterday. They were going to tell people at lunchtime today if they have gone through to the next round, but I had another day off today so I still do not know. So I am not sure what to do tomorrow. Friday is our dress down day so I would normally turn up with t shirt and Crocs. However, if I have been selected to go forward to the next stage then it could well happen that I have the interview tomorrow. I don't want to go to work casual and then find out that I have my interview scheduled for tomorrow, but I also don't want to go dressed up to the nines just to find out that I have not made it through or the interview is next week. The whole situation stinks!
Still, I had a relaxing day today. Graham took the day off as well and we went to a nature reserve about an hour away and I spent most of the day feeding Nene Geese.

What a dilemna. Is it too weird to bring your "interview" outfit with you? The thing that I don't understand is wouldn't the powers-to-be call you if they expected you to come to work tomorrow ready to interview? Is it possible that the interviewees are not expected to dress up since the company has a casual Friday policy?

I have figured out how I'm going to tell Christopher about his surprise. The morning we leave, we will be having breakfest in the dining room at the Radisson. I ordered Christopher a personalized watch. It is water proof, has a Pirates of the Carribean theme, and has his name on the face of the watch. I'll give him this gift along with a card that reads "It is time to go on a Disney Cruise". :cool1: It only took me since January to come up with my plan. :rotfl: What does everyone think?

Patricia, aren't you going to be at the Radisson with me? Maybe you'll be in the audience and see it live. ;) If not, I plan to have it recorded to share. :thumbsup2

That is exactly what I did in the end. I have had an interview before on a Friday and one of the managers (who is also part of this panel) made a big deal on how good it is to see that I come dressed for interview even on dress down day.
The good news is that I am through to the next round. I had an email in my work inbox this morning. I have heard that out of 11 only 4 were shortlisted and I am one of them so I am pretty happy right now. The interview will be Wednesday afternoon.
Patricia, congratulations on the good news!
