I am all up for this. We will have a whole day in the area on the Saturday and are considering either Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge (have been there a few times before and always loved it) or Kennedy Space Centre, whcih would be a first for us. Either way we should be at the hotel mid afternoon.

We are flying in Saturday am (like 9am). We are renting a car at MCO. Not sure if'll we do any shopping or stops on the way to the Port. What to check in as early as they'll allow so we can relax and enjoy that great looking pool.

We stayed at the Radisson before our first cruise and at the Residence Inn before the second cruise. Does your rate include the breakfast buffet at the Radisson? The food and the service was very good. Of course, the atmosphere was festive since most people were going on the Magic.

It would be very nice if dh and I were staying in a hotel before the cruise this time but since we're taking the kids to my mom's first, it wouldn't be too nice to dump them and turn around and take off. We'll stay with my mom Saturday and drive to Cape Canaveral Sunday morning.

It's technically Sunday now, so Happy Mother's Day to all the moms! I would be interested in hearing how your Mother's Days went if anyone wants to post a report later or tomorrow. :)

Happy Mothers Day to those moms on the list. Mine started as normal, getting up with my doggies (at least they slept til 6am today). Needless to say, I tried to go back to sleep, but my body thinks it is time to get up. (hopefully I'll get a cat nap before church).

As for the Radison, we didn't do the package that included breakfast as it was another $30. I am not a breakfast person so I could not see spending $30 just for hubby to chow down.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. We were supposed to get rain (again) but again, it really did not. It's beautiful out today (hope it stays that way). Have a great Sunday!

We are not getting breakfast either. In fact none of the UK websites that offer the Radisson seem to be offering it with breakfast. Never mind, I am not really a breakfast person either and not having breakfast means that I will be ready for my lunch when I get on the ship.

Good idea Corrina, I didn't think of that!!! :goodvibes

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!
I am hopeing that we can arrive early at the Radisson. I really want time to enjoy the pool. My kids love to swim....just like mom. My mom loves to lay out in the sun for as long as she can. I'm not sure what my mom's boyfriend would do though. He hates the heat, the sun, water, and sand. Makes you wonder what he is going to be doing on a boat (gets sea sick) on it's way to the tropics. :rotfl2: He just really loves my son! :lovestruc We got the cruise package that includes breakfest and being able to leave our car there. I am really looking forward to it. We have decided we are going to tell Christopher his surprise before we leave the hotel that morning. I have been looking on ebay for a mini disney cruise ship. I had found a toy one, and won it, but the seller never shipped it. :sad2: I finally got my money back and I'm on the hunt again. I was hopeing to be able find something like that, wrap it up with a note that says "birthday wishes do come true......picture yourself here (with an arrow pointed to our cabin) we leave today" So, I'm stalking the ebay lists and if that fails I'll come up with something else brilliant.

Yesterday we went to NFL football camp sponsored by Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Christopher had such a good time and he was SO tired when they were done. We had breakfest with the players first and then they went out and trained to play football. All of them were really great with the kids! Here are pictures with Christopher and the players:

You know if I were 80lbs lighter and 10 years younger......:rotfl:
After this event we had blue and gold dinner for cub scouts. I can tell you Christopher slept in REAL LATE today! :rotfl2:

I hope everyone has a great mother's day! No plans here except to work in the yard and work off the 2 lbs I gained yesterday! :rolleyes1

I was trying to remember if our room had the breakfast included or not, so I checked my old email. We didn't take the "package" rate. It was, like Patty said, $30.00 more. It turned out whether you booked the package or not, you could keep your car there. I don't know if that's true now. It was my mother and her husband who treated for the breakfast since dh and I treated for a 2 bedroom suite for all of us. My mother lives a couple hours away from the port, so we booked the two bedroom so they could visit with us the day before the cruise and see us off in the morning.

I am definitely a breakfast person. I have to be. Because I'm hypoglycemic, a protein-healthy breakfast is a necessity. No worries about not having an appetite for lunch, though. I don't eat a lot at one sitting but I eat often!

Tink, thanks for posting the pictures. That's so awesome that Christopher got to go to the camp and that he had his picture taken with so many players. Your right about the players. I may be a happily married old lady but some of those guys are nice looking!

My dad was a "little brother" . His big brother is in his 90's now and is still an important part of my dad's life.

We were supposed to get rain (again) but again, it really did not. It's beautiful out today (hope it stays that way). Have a great Sunday!

I noticed this was posted early this morning. Did you get the rain? We got light, intermittent rain in the early afternoon but the heavy stuff followed a few hours later and has not let up. I hope it doesn't wash all the soil off the seeds Warren just planted. All I wanted for Mother's Day was for Warren and the kids to execute my plan for a fenced in vegetable garden. It was mostly fenced in when the heavy rain started.

Traditionally, we never go out to eat on Mother's Day. I waitressed for several years. Mother's Day is the worst day of the year for good service and an enjoyable restaurant experience especially with really little kids or babies, which we've had one or both in these categories for the past 13 years. This year, we broke tradition. I asked to go to the Japanese steakhouse. The kids had never been to one. As you'd expect, they got a big kick out of the theatrics of the chef and the tableside cooking.

Monica,

so glad you and the family got to go out for Mothers' Day. It was just hubby and I last night (all the kids were working), so he cooked dinner (and did the dishes!!!) But, it was a long day and by 7pm, I felt it was bedtime (unfortunately, didn't get to bed til after 10, but that's life). The rain started here last night and we have had really strong winds. Hubby just got in and said there are trees down and branches all over. I'll be leaving soon for the y, so I'll see what it's like out real soon.

Have a great Monday!

Monica, Your so right. It was an awesome experience for Chris with all the players. Chris hasn't been so lucky with finding a Big. He was on a waiting list for four years when he finally found a Big but then, after a great 8 months, they had to discontinue the match (moved). Now he is back on the waiting list. They are really hurting for volunteers but we are keeping our fingers crossed.

Hayley and Corinna, It looks like I'll be traveling to your neck of the woods this weekend. My brother is planning on taking me to London. Is this Florida girl going to freeze her booty off this time of year? :confused3

Dawn,

I am so jealous, what an amazing trip you will have. I've never been 'across the pond' as some would say! Have a great time and we'll expect to see some photos when you get back.

At the moment the temperatures around the UK are in the low 70s and that is heavenly by UK standards. I was very happy in shorts and t shirts over the weekend.

wow that's awesome, we were only in the 40's yesterday and soooo rainy! brrrr

We live in the (statistically) wettest place in Europe and we have had a little run of dry and sunny days. On Sunday when I went to the grocery shop there were a few spits of rain in the air and a few rumbles of thunder somewhere in the background, but other than that it has been gorgeous. I hope it will stay like this for a while.

Dawn,

Was watching the news this am (couldn't hear, just saw tv at the y, but no sound) about the fires in Florida. I pray these are not near you at all. Keep us posted.

Patricia....thank you for your well wishes!:goodvibes The bad fires have not been near us, but our area has had some flare ups. So far so good though :thumbsup2 We have the smell of smoke in the air (smells like a bonfire) but no flames.
The 70's temperture would be great! MUCH better than the 90's we have been in! I feel like the wicked witch of the west....."I'm melting, melting, melting" :lmao:
