Uggh, hope it's ok for us to drive on 95 on Friday night/Saturday Morning. We should hit GA maybe about Sun-up on Saturday. I think I will make sure I am driving since DM doesn't like to drive in the rain as it is. But I am sooooo glad that she is getting out of dodge before we leave!

I'll keep updating you as I get the weather reports down here. It is going to be going through Georgia/ South Carolina Friday afternoon/evening so be careful. They keep projecting it to be a CAT 1 hurricane. You can drive in those conditions but just make sure you drive slow and watch road conditions. I would advise against driving in the dark during a storm like that because you may not be able to make out a flooded road. If at all possible, I would try to make it into FL early Friday or wait until later Saturday (it should be out of the way by early Saturday morning).

I see Corinna on the Magic(looking at webcam). hehe

Hi Dawn,

What are they saying the weather will be like for Thurs, Fri, Sat in Disney......Just wondering how many ponchos to buy/bring! :guilty:

I have safely arrived in Orlando after a three hour delay. I ended up buying a new laptop duty free (have been meaning to all year) so I managed to get online using the complimentary wireless internet at the hotel. We will leave for the airport to catch the DCL shuttle within the next 15 minutes or so. See you soon!

Corinna

What a great opportunity to get a laptop! We thought about bringing ours. The jury's still out. I really hope you have a great time on this leg of your back to back cruises.

Hi Dawn,

It is still to early to tell for certain. Even without the tropical storm there are the normal FL afternoon thunderstorms. It really depends on how close it passes to the east coast as to what kind of weather you will have. I would suspect if it keeps on it's current course that Friday you would have a lot of wind and rain.....not to much if at all Saturday. Thursday, not to sure about....it may not get rainy until the afternoon or evening. I will keep you posted as I learn more. I don't think we will know for sure until Wed.

Ok, so where did this one come from???? Ok, I am getting tired of all these tropical storms, depressions and hurricanes!!! Enough already! Ok, I vented, now I feel better. I am NOT going to worry about these. I am going to DISNEY!!!! I am going on a the WONDER!!! I am not going to think anything bad.

*sigh* I'll keep you updated on Ike too. This is the busiest season since 04!! Crazy! Well, I just looked at the tracker and as of now the only problem I can see would be maybe a change of Nassau and perhaps choppy seas. :confused3 It is still to far out to tell. It might get delayed like Hannah did or it might not. One day at a time. Again, I don't think we can pin point anything until Wed/ Thur. That is when we want to take a close look. We'll be fine! Think postive and pray! :goodvibes
I did talk to my mom today. She told me if one of these storms gets to close her boyfriend is going to cancel because he is worried he will get sea sick with rough seas.:sad1: I understand but it still upsets me. :guilty: Like all of you, I want this trip to be perfect. Who knows when we will ever be able to do another DCL cruise since it took five years to save up for this one.

Dawn,

Thanks for the weather reports :goodvibes I bought some of that sea sick medicine, just to be safe (the non drowsy kind). I'm keeping positive thoughts and lots of prayers!

Thanks Dawn! I am trying not to be anxious, but I am......I just want to be able to fly in on Thursday without too much of a delay.....sounds like will be getting up at 330am on Thursday.......YUCK! but, I guess it's for a good cause......DUH! (as my 4 year old now says all the time)

I'm trying so hard to muster up some concern about the weather, but I just can't. It is what it is. I hope Dawn's mother's boyfriend doesn't bail out, though.

Until I came into this room to get pins, I was working on making my fish extender. I have a lot more important and pressing preparations to do for the first day of our fall semester but I HAVE to get this FE made in order to clear my mind for my other work. Does that make sense? It's going to look like some kid's summer camp craft project, but you have to crawl before you walk, right?

Anyone want to post pictures of their FE's for me? You probably have done it already several pages back. Mine will not have any embellishments or Disney art on it. Just finishing one will be a feat in itself.

Unfortunately for me, I just discovered this forum, all but less than a week before our sailing date!:headache: All this excitement since February and no one to share it with for this first time cruising family! :sad1:

ktmetke, I noticed you were from Illinois....are you from the Chicagoland area?

I am sooooo ready for this great experience!

Mary

Oh don't stress about the Fish Extenders.........Mine is very simple.....it's the pink/brown over the door organizer.......My friend ironed on mickey, minnie, donald, and pluto, one on each pocket and then wrote our names in a fabric marker on each pocket......VERY SIMPLE!! But, very cute! But, not sure how I will get it to hang on the fish near the door :confused3 ....I will try to download a pic tomorrow for you guys to see, I would do tonight, but my camera batteries are not charged.....

I couldn't bring myself to pack any clothes today......seemed way too early.......I did work on the Fish Extender gifts a bit.........I do have lots to do, but I like working under pressure and probably won't have everything done until the limo picks us up bright and early on Thursday morning at 430am!

Have a great night everyone and a great Tuesday......and oh yeah......tomorrow is the start of the new 90210.....anyone else excited for that too???

Hi Mary,

Welcome to our fantastic group!!!!

We live in Shorewood.....I grew up in Tinley Park! How about you??

Welcome, Mary! February, huh? That's a long time to go without the company and support of fellow Dissers. You poor thing. It's a good thing you found us in time. ;) How did you find Disboards finally? I can't remember what led me here before our first cruise, probably Google.

I'm trying so hard to muster up some concern about the weather, but I just can't. It is what it is.

Monica,

That's the best way to think of it. Hope you got your FE done.

Mary

Mary,

Welcome to the board. Sorry you just found us with so few days left. Are you doing any land portion, before or after your trip? Are you flying in the day before? Several of us are arriving on Saturday and staying at the Radisson at the port. We have arranged a Dis-meet on board Sunday at 3pm by the Mickey pool. The dis 'official' color is lime green. If you have a Home Depot near by, they have Disney paint and you get pick up those samples of paint chips, but for Disney they are shaped like mickey heads. So you grab some of the Alien green (LGMH, lime green mickey heads) and you can cut them out of the paper backing and you have your first official (very easy) decoration. I've punched holes into them and hung them from little chains so we can attach them to our luggage and stuff, hoping to identify other Dis-members.

Well just watched the weather report. looks like Hanna has stalled and is only moving 2 mph. She will most likely make landfall by SC/GA Saturday after we have already passed through there. So hopefully our drive will be uneventful. Now to watch freakin Ike!!!!

Today is one week from Castaway Cay!!!!! (think positive!!) Getting sooo psyched!

I am running out this morning for some little last minute things for packing. I am trying to start packing today but not much really getting done. Oh well I will pack way better under pressure later. My mom is coming up to watch my Son Thursday morning so I can get anything I need to complete done! It's ALMOST HERE!

Christina,

Hope you had a nice weekend at the beach. Yea, one week from right now, I hope to be walking onto Castaway Cay and enjoying the sunshine and beautiful beaches. Be safe driving.

People people please chill out :lmao: We WILL survive. We WILL get on the ship. That is all we really need. Disney will then transport us into fantasy land. Were ever that may be. Dawn, since you are experiencing "Post Packing Syndrom" "Coach Dale" suggests you make a game out of it:yay: . What you do is unpack EVERYTHING then time yourself repacking. I suggest you do it once a day for the next three days to get your best time:cheer2: . Record your events so you can study it for your final packing Friday night. For whom ever mentioned ponchos, forget them wear bathing suits:rotfl: Ponchos are humid so you still get wet. Not a good wet. So be "Green" (enviromentally correct:lmao: ) and get wet from the rain. Heck depending on time of day take some shampoo and soap with you.

Thanks for being so humorous! I really do love you! But hey, DON'T take ponchos on the cruise. If it's raining in Nassau (which it seems to do a LOT) DCL will give you ponchos (YES GIVE THEM TO YOU) as you get off the ship!!!!

Ok, now we have Hanna, Ike, and Josephine!!!! What's up with this season!!! But, not worrying!!!! I'm going on a cruise!!!! I am going on a Disney cruise and meeting all these wonderful online friends!!!! :cool1:

Karen, I'm so glad to hear you are driving earlier Thursday. I saw today that they are predicting Hannah to be a Cat 2 hurricane and that is not a good idea to be driving in!

Welcome to our newest Disboard member! Glad you found us!

Dale, that would be a great idea only I have had to pack without my oldest not realizing what I am packing. I had to hide the pirate outfits and exactly how many clothes I'm packing because I'm sure he would start to wonder why I need pirate outfits and five outfits for two days at seaworld!

You know what, I refuse to worry about these hurricanes anymore. What is is and I can't blow them off course. Yes, Ike looks like it might affect us the most but if it does we will still be on a Disney cruise ship! I'm starting to get a cold:sick: and I refuse to get sick for this trip!!! I will be healthy before Friday! No stress. :)

Patricia, I did not know DCL gives out ponchos. Great info and one less thing I have to worry about fitting in my luggage!

I think I talked my mom into getting the "patch" for her boyfriend. My mom gets seasick too but she doesn't care. She is just as excited as the rest of us! :hyper:
