I've just taken a break from it all to see what's new here and eat desert (cherry flavored chewie Rolaids. Yum)

Packing - forget about it! Friday morning, we'll throw whatever we can remember to pack into a few suitcases and hit the road. I'm sure the 16+ hour train ride will give us plenty of time to remember what we forgot before we reach Sanford. No worries! They probably have Walmart near Cocoa Beach or somewhere nearby. As long as we have our ID, travel documents, credit card and FE stuff we're good to go, right?

I was at the library this afternoon and I overheard a boy (about 11 or 12) tell a couple girls that Hurricane Hanna was named after Hannah Montana. :rotfl2: I think he really believed it. I know they believed him. That's not true, right? ;)

Monica, Missed you here, but I know this time of year is really busy for you. Looking forward to meeting you Saturday. Hope you have a safe trip and no problems on the train.

I agree with your packing info. There's a walmart or target so anything (other than those official docs) can be picked up there.

I am really busy at work but wanted to pop in and express my concern for all of our DIS family that is driving in. I read that Georgia is considering making I-16 (right number but not sure if it is interstate or hwy) a one way road for evacuations. I just wanted you all to be aware! Hope everyone is having a good day

That is scary! :scared1: I hope no one driving is affected by all this.

We are taking 95 the whole way down, but we will be on it Friday night/Saturday morning. I have to check out the website for I-95 that they have in the passporter and see what they say about the possible weather for this weekend! I don't care if I have to drive 5 mph, I am going to make it to Port Canaveral by Sunday !!

Ok fellow Dis-ers:worship: . It seems like several people feel it's time to drop off to start packing for the trip:confused3 . Well, "Coach Dale" is here to tell you now is not the time to drop off. Now is the time to get your rear in gear, to put the pedal to the metal, to get in from the rain. Now is the time to seek out the support from others as you start to question your sanity, "What was i thinking when i booked this trip?". Now you need to step up to the plate and declare "I can and will do this!" And if i forget anything, "Stuff happens". As it's been written already there always is a Wal-mart or such near by. Or i'm sure Disney will have it on their ship for a fee. While you are packing play and sing Disney music, whistle while you work. Turn on a Disney movie. Get in the mood:rotfl: What ever you do STAY OFF THE WEATHER CHANNEL! :rolleyes1 That is it for now on the pep talk:cheer2: Please post frequently on how your preperations are coming along. Remember there is nothing more exciting then reading that somebody is more frazzeled then you.:rotfl2:

Dale, are you packed yet? ;) hehe

I am going through packing anexity....I have just my tolitries left and I want them packed! I want to check EVERYTHING off my list. I get SO giddy everytime I can check something off my list. I have to run to Walmart today and buy a disposable underwater camera. It will be interesting to see how everything fits in the Honda Civic.......one large suitcase and six little ones...we can do this!:)

You know, I have to say, I am not worrying myself about the hurricanes at all. I am, however, a type A when it comes to planning (how else do you think I found this board....booked a cruise and went right to "google...Disney forums" :rotfl: ). I just want to know approx what the plan for the itenerary will be. Of course, I am concerned about everyone driving down but not concerned about the voyage. Maybe we will even get lucky like the Carinval folks and get a couple extra days we weren't planning on! :cool2:

I can't believe it is just 4 days! I can not wait to be on the ship! We will have SO much fun!

Dawn if i did the packing you'd see Piggly Wiggly bags and coolers duct tapped closed. :lmao: :cool1: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2  :rotfl: Patty is an awesome packer. She rolls things up so tight the suitcase squeals for help:woohoo:

Dawn,

Dale is NOT packed. Granted he's got piles of stuff to be packed, but he's got enough clothes that he doesn't need most of those items. Unlike me, I wear the same outfits all the time (sad, i know, lol) so I'll be frantically washing and drying clothes Friday night.

And don't let him fool you. We don't even have a Piggly Wiggly (whatever that is) here! I just 'make' things fit, but I took Dawn's idea and got some travel bags, so here's hoping packing will be easier.

I would LOVE to be like that Carnival ship!!! They got two extra days! Granted I want my time in Disney, but to get some extra days (and all the food included!!!!) That would be awesome!

It looks like we should make out ok with Hanna, but Ike is now a full blown hurricane!!! And as typical, we will most likely have rain in Nassau! (oh well, we get a free poncho!!!!!)

I don't care so much about Nassau, but I'd really like a nice day at Castaway Cay......any chance for that??

I'm praying! :cloud9:

I got my disposable under water camera today (check!) and got the baby's hair cut (check) and picked up a prescription (check Check). Now tomorrow will be my busy day, laundry, finish packing, pack up the dogs, make sure the cats have enough food and water and the fish are fed, clean the car, make sure the house is in order and then Friday morning pack up dogs, kids, and suit cases.....drop the doggies off at grandmas, the kids at school, and I'll go to work. *phew*. Happy packing everyone! For those of you driving tomorrow, I'll pray for a safe journey!:wizard:

Mary (sorry if that's not your name), if at all possible, you may want to try to leave earlier, just because of this Hanna. Not sure exactly when and where she's goign to hit and what route you'll be taking.

Yes, Mary is fine! :thumbsup2

I was thinking that more than 24 hrs for 19 hrs drive would be fine...based on yall's opinion, now I'm having second thoughts about it.......

My husband will be working the second shift Friday night....we may need to reevaluate this.....

We will be taking I-24 to I-75

Hi Marysol,

Yep the next community after Plainfield....I had many clinicals at MacNeal in Berwyn for nursing school many moons back! Do you read the trip reports from the Jaime, who lives in Berwyn, on the Disboards??

I live close to Macneal....my twins get speech therapy there.

I have not read anything from Jaime, I will see what I can find now!
Thanks!

It's Weds night and I am laying here on the bed and trying to figure out if I will get all packed tomorrow while my parents are here watching DS! I can do it, I can do it. Then it will just be a waiting game to leave. DM works Friday night till 10 and then we are pulling the pin. We will probably hit rain on the way down but no worries! I am married to a truck driver after all, I can drive in anything...lol. At least I like to think so.

I have a question though...in the dining rooms for dinner do they have kids sized silver ware? DS is still not used to the normal size stuff and I don't want him to get frustrated and antsy. ( I'm going to post this on the general forum as well) Thanks

Just wanted to say good night to everyone.........Looking forward to meeting you all at 3pm by the Mickey Pool on Sunday.......I found a lime green polo in my closet today that I forgot I had!!!!!

Happy traveling to all!!!

I have 2 out of 5 people packed. Went and bought a few extra pairs of undies for hubby tonight, some jelly shoes for Kyla and a light saber for Kolby. (Ok, we aren't bringing the light saber but Kohl's had buy 1 toy get the other for half so he talked me into it)! :rotfl:

So, I have a question, if it is raining in Nassau and we still go there, will it be cold? I don't want to sound like an idiot, but here in Oklahoma it has been raining all day and all the neighborhood kids actually had on gloves and hats it was so cold! Also, will the waterpark and stuff still be open? Hmmmm Trying to decide what to do about our comfort inn reservations. It would be nice to cancel if we aren't going to do Atlantis.

Is anyone staying in Florida and going to the parks after the cruise? We are only there a couple of days :( but I guess that is better than nothing:sad2:

One more question...if the ocean is all wavy and stuff is the water going to be stirred up? I have never seen crystal blue water and don't want to get my hopes up for good snorkeling!

Tanae,

I do not think it will be cold in Nassau with the rain. I am sure it will still be in the 80's or above, but with the storms coming, it may be real windy (but hot air blowing).

We are doing four days at the parks after the cruise. We are staying at Pop Century.

Have a safe trip to Florida and we'll see you by the Mickey pool on Sunday at 3pm.

We are heading to the parks after the cruise. My dad is flying down to meet us on Thursday so we will stop at the airport and pick him up and head to All Star Sports for 4 nights. I can't wait!

Tenae, it does not get cold in the tropics when it rains...it will be warm and sticky. The rain makes it more humid. (blech)

Ok, Tropical update for those that want to know. First, to all the people driving down....Hanah is now headed for North and South Carolina so if you are not driving through one of those two states you will be fine. Next, Hurricane Ike (or YIKE! as we are saying) is now a MAJOR hurricane....category 4 and may even reach cat 5. At the moment it is forcast to hit the bahamas Mon AM and be between FL and Cuba Tue AM...and may even cut across the southern half of FL (to put up the hurricane shutters or not to is the question for me). They really won't know for more certian until the weekend so we will just keep praying. One of the many models shows it turning east before it reaches the Bahamas and I am praying for that to be the case! As for rough seas.....I really don't know having never been on a cruise with a major storm in the Atlantic/ Gulf but I imagine it will be choppy. Will it affect the blue waters? I know it does here when it is stormy but we will just have to see.

I'll report on the latest tomorrow if anyone is interested in keeping up to date. Everyone have a safe trip in! Anyone who wants my cell number can PM me and I'll be glad to give it to you to stay in touch.:)
Happy packing everyone! I know I'll be doing the mad woman rush tonight and tomorrow!!:yay:
