That is a great question Monica! I don't know the answer to that. I do know my mother gets motion sickness very easily. She can't ride on any type of rides that spin or go in even slow circles. She also gets sick watching IMAX if it shows movement (like flying). I didn't get that gene, thank goodness!!

What is everyone planning on doing in Nassau? I have thoughts but not sure what I want to do. I thought about staying on the ship but I've never been to Nassau so thought I might as well explore it. We will split up. I'm sure my mom and her boyfriend will go to the straw market. I love history but the boys would be bored to tears and I am also not bringing a stroller. I know both my boys love pirates (my eldest had been a pirate for Halloween every year since he was 4 and I can't even begin to count how many pirate swords we have) so I thought maybe a visit to the pirate muesum would be cool. I also had read so many outstanding reviews on the dolphin encounter that I was going to try to save up for that. Then I read you don't get back till 5pm and since we have early seating it would affect our dinner. I really don't want to miss the dining experience since I don't know when we will get back on another cruise. I then thought about doing the sting ray encounter. However, the passporter didn't say real good things about it but they gave it a rating of a 9 (?). So help. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Tink, we never did the dolphin encounter. I don't know anything first hand, but our tablemates, a mother and daughter did one in either Cozumel or Grand Cayman. The daughter was four at the time. The mother said it was okay but her daughter got a mouthful of the "fishy" water and that wasn't pleasant. She also said there was more "wait" time than she expected. That didn't go over too well with her daughter. Her opinion was she would have waited until her daughter was a little older. It must be tough having a wide age gap between the two kids. If your younger one was even five or six it probably would be easier planning things.

We also thought about staying on the ship but there's no way we would pass up a chance to see a place we've never been. We'll probably take a tour and go to the Pirate Museum and then head to the Crystal City casino. We've done stingray encounters on our last two cruises.

I am thinking we'll do a walking tour (I read a great TR recently with lots of info) and since we have never been there, thinking of doing this. I'd love to do Atlantis (I love water parks) but dh isn't into spending more than we have to with the cost of the vow renewal (and of course we'll be getting photos done, more money). Even though there was a great special on travelzoo yesterday for the Atlantis room but it won't be happening for us this trip.

Well the temp in Nassau today is 81 (I had to add that to my yahoo weather, lol). Just wanted to share. Can we 'will' September to get here.

For my cheering friends, I have consistly been working out since the 24th, only missing the two days the Y was closed (Good Friday and Easter). I am debating what I will do this weekend, skipping one day (for a rest) or two??? Thanks for the encouragement.

Keep it going! I wouldn't be able to take a break, because I know it would be a permanent break! :rotfl:
My little guy was soppose to go w/ his dad this weekend and I was looking forward to some long bike rides w/ my older son, however, the little guy woke up vomiting and as of now still can't keep anything down. I see a long weekend of cleaning bed sheets. :guilty:

Oh Dawn, I am sorry your little guy is sick, not the way I'd like to spend my weekend. Praying for a speedy recovery for him (and hopefully no one else gets it). Thanks for cheering me on :goodvibes

Tink, that's horrible. I hope his stomach bug is a quickie and that you and older ds don't catch it. I know what you mean about taking a short break and it turning into forever. I've fallen off the exercise wagon several times over the years. Right now, Patty's keeping me on it.

Thank you for your prayers and well wishes! They seemed to have worked because the little guy is feeling much better. Full of piss and vinegar again! Unfortunately, to late for the older one. He isn't feeling well at all and running a low grade fever. It isn't stopping him from eating the peeps I found left over at the grocery store today though. :) I think our weekend will be full of good vibes. :goodvibes: Thank you.
As far as the exercise wagon.....it is a bouncy darn thing. I bet if I look real hard I have bruises! I've been overweight most of my life. I was finally successful in loseing a 100lbs a few years ago. Then I got pregnant and I couldn't get enough chesse burgers to eat. :rotfl: Obviously, I gained a lot of weight back and it has been a struggle to lose it again. I had some short term success with low carb but that didn't last long. Right now I am having the best success of my dieting life. The first time ever I've been able to lose 10lbs a month. I've been doing the special K diet, taking the stairs, and bike rideing almost every evening. I feel great! I still have a long way to go but I'm happy with the success I have had so far. :dance3: My goal is :wishfifty: before our cruise. I am so glad to be watching the both of you march forward in your quest and glad I can be here to cheer you on. :cheer2:

Dawn,

Glad the little one is feeling better, but sorry to hear the older one is probably not getting it. Hope you don't get it too. Congrats on your sucess with the weight loss and all the changes you've made. I too have a long way to go, and would love to drop 50# by the cruise, but I don't think I'm being realistic. I'll cheer you on too, since you've been so kind to cheer me on. Keep up the good work.

Thank you Patricia. Just listening to you going to the Y everyday helps to motivate me to stay on target. I am enjoying cheering you on. :) :cheer2:

OK....are you ready for this?? Umm...not realizing that September 1st was on Monday and THAT was Labor Day I booked my cruise for the wrong weekend. I was trying to figure out the "my weekend/dad's weekend" thing for somethign else and had realized my mistake. So, I"m moving my cruise up a week. I'm a scheduling mess. So, I regret that I won't be cruising with everyone and have enjoyed the little bit of conversation we have all had. I just really needed to travel over Labor Day. That extra day really means quite a bit.

I did want to say I have done the dolphin encounter in Nassau many years ago when I went there and stayed on Paradise Island for a few days. For me...it was a really great once in a lifetime experience. I do believe my son and I are going to do it this year. He's 8 and I feel like he'd enjoy it much more than in past years. I think it might have freaked him out a little bit and he wouldn't really "enjoy" it for it's cost. I will also tell you that Atlantis is AWESOME!!

You can warm the Wonder up for us. :) I am sure there will be great people to cruise with on the Labor Day cruise also! It was nice to briefly be able to communicate with you! Have a great trip! :flower3:

Did someone say cheeseburgers? Boy, could I go for one right now! I'll have to settle for popcorn:: without butter .

Toes, I'm sorry we won't be cruising with you, but on the positive side, you're countdown is now shorter than ours and you don't have to worry about who's hosting the Labor Day barbecue.

Anyone reading a good book these days? I'm halfway through System of the World. Since I only read right before bed, and I tend to fall asleep quickly, I've been reading it for three or four months.

I am reading Karen Kingsbury newest book 'Someday'. I think I've read just about everyone one of her books. I posted a note on the cruise forum about food on castaway cay. I wasn't sure if that was extra or part of your cruise. There are some great responses (making me hungry already). Castaway Cay Food

Does the Passporter count as a good book?
Thanks for sharing your other post Patricia! I've been reading SO much about the trip that I know more than the doctor I work with that has been on 2 Disney cruises. She has been thanking me for tips. :rotfl2: What can I say? I'm a planner and so very thankful I stumbled across the DIS boards (purely by accident while looking up something on google)! I read on one of the posts about zazzle. You can get personalized t-shirts (and mugs, mouse pads, ect). They have a large selection for Disney. I am considering buying some for the boys and I to wear to WDW and on the boarding day. I'll never forget as a little girl going to WDW with my step brother, step father, and mother. We all had matching shirts. My mom's said "I'm his", My step father's said "I'm hers" and my step brother and I's shirts said "we're theirs". I thought that was so cool. Maybe I'm just a geek but I love family's in matching shirts. It speaks unity, love, and fun to me. :lovestruc:
I'm thinking of giving my son a disney cruise ship gift (i.e. a model of the cruise ship, captian Mickey, or perhaps a photo album). I figure I can wrap it up with a note and give it to him the morning we are to leave. When he opens it, he would have the gift with a note saying "We're giving you the Wonder for your birthday. We are leaving on the Disney Cruise ship today" (or something like that). I've been watching ebay and they have quite a variety of things. Now just when to give that to him is the question? On the shuttle? At the Dock? Oh, I just LOVE planning surpries! :cloud9:

I am still waiting for my Passporter, I'm 'mad' at amazon for taking so long (use to get things so fast before).

As for matching shirts, my goodness, we always had to have one or two for the trips (but I made them with the help of the creative dis board). Those people are amazing.

I think your son is going to be so excited. You have some great ideas planned.

What about magnetic signs for your door? Has anyone done them in the past? Are you planning on doing any for this trip? I'd love to make a few, but keep looking and saving pics, but nothing definate yet.

Patricia, I wish I were more savvy with creating things. I'm in awe at all the mothers who can make things at home. I did find this link on the passporter forum : http://www.passporterboards.com/for...voyage/151340-stateroom-door-decorations.html
I think it will be right up your alley! :thumbsup2:
I was going to look for some magnets when I go to Animal Kingdom in a couple of months. I keep an eye out on ebay too. I don't want to spend a lot of money in case they get stolen.

Thanks for the link. I've been checking out one here on the cruise board, but the more ideas I get, the more chance I'll be able to do something.

I'm probably not going to make door decorations. It's not that I'm a humbug or anything. I like looking at other people's creative efforts. If we were going with our kids, and they wanted to decorate, I'd let them and I'd help them in anyway I could. In the past, we've made Mickey head magnets out of the Mickey Head paint chips from Home Depot. We wrote our names on each head. That's all.

I wouldn't mind wearing matching or theme oriented shirts for dh and me. Maybe I'll create shirts that say something unimaginative like "Love 'em But Leave 'Em, Parents-Only Cruise, September 2008"
