Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party / Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party Tier Pricing. SAD

Yet you just know Disney was well aware that the party prices would be viewed by many through the lens of the special event prices,
Eh. I think that is actually "a few" instead of "many". The total number of people who post/rant regularly here, and on similar boards is measured in the hundreds. There are many members here. But the prolific posters on the TPAS Board is mere hundreds.

I just purchased 5 MVMCP tickets for December 4th. My total for each ticket is around $130.00 because of the Canadian dollar. This will be our only time at Disney. The rest we will be going to Universal and some serious r'n'r time. Not happy about the price but what can you do?

As long as guests keep seeing price hikes as comparative bargains Disney will keep sticking it to their fan base.

And to think, I joined the DIS to learn about WDW discounts.

Those days are long gone!

Now it is just one price hike/reduction of service after another! And the same set of DISers cheering for all of them.

Wow, that's quiet the price increase. Last year we did both parties, but I think we are going to start skipping them, especially since we have annual passes.

We are from Scotland, so in 2014 we, a family of three, bought our tickets for October...£125... However in two years it has increased to £203...so this October it's a no to MNSSHP, and instead a spa treatment for my wife whilst me and my boy hire a sea raycer and sail the seven seas..It still works out cheaper..

I never thought I'd be grateful for infertility, but I've never felt so relieved that we were only able to have one kid! I budgeted $300 for MNSSHP tickets (and paid $245 for $300 worth of giftcards from Sam's Club) and had already offset this day by dropping a day of tickets (and 4pm to midnight is about the amount of time we would spend in a park on a regular day) but geesh -- I can imagine how pricey this would be for larger families.

was it really worth it to drop a day of tickets? Above 4 or 5 days doesn't it just cost around $10/day to add more?

:thumbsup2 I don't think I ever save money. I just find other things to spend it on!! :rotfl2:

I don't know, how many times they can jump that shark, but Disney did it again!

Really think it's time to dump the DVC. Prices are too ridiculous. I can no longer justify the absurd increases and THAT makes me sad. 35 years of enjoying the Mouse...done. The last 3 years have been especially unpleasant.

Pricing doesn't bug me much, but I've spent more than the party ticket price on one costume element for an involved cosplay.

We typically go to MVMCP every year as all of our WDW trips are in December.

We view these party's different than most. We don't go for the parades and Character meets. We go for the walk-on rides. While the rest of you are waiting in lines and fighting for parade seats we are riding all our favorite rides over and over. It is a great time and usually one of the highlights of the trip.

However, I think we paid $74 for our tickets in 2014. The tickets for our dates are now $91. That is a ridiculous jump in price for the same party.

I've said all along I'd pay $100 for this party IF they sold 30%-40% less tickets so the crowds were more comfortable.

While looks like I got the $100 tickets I wanted, but they are going to attempt to have the same crowd. It will be interesting to see if the party's sell out like they did last year.

This price increase has probably priced us out. I don't think we'll pay a $17 increase for the same party.

Wow, we went in 2014 for the first time, i think we paid $165 for two people plus tickets to get in the park at 9am. Whelp, i guess my wife and i will have to eat in for one night to afford the price increase.

Yea this just priced me out. I can't justify going at $99 to a Christmas party. I had fun the times I went but they just get busier and busier and it's just not worth it to me. I do however hope everyone that goes enjoys it and maybe they will get lucky and the crowds will be lower.

We are doing a Disney cruise in September and have decided to surprise the kids by doing the MNSSHP the day we get off the ship. Of course, that date is THE most expensive date in September (9/23). Since we really have no choice on dates we will probably do it anyway and pay what they ask. However, why do you think this date is the most expensive? It's $85 compared to the other Fridays in September which are $72 or $79. Do you think they expect this to be the most crowded date in September? If so I hope the higher prices counteract that and people choose other dates.

We have to pay for eight tickets (or 16 if we do both parties) and I'm going to be quite honest...after seeing the pricing for DAH, I'm relieved that most the tickets are under $100/ea. Now if they'd released these prices before they released DAH, I might have been singing a different tune, but right now I'm just glad tix aren't $150/ea. Heck, the early September dates seem like a bargain :lmao:

It was for us because we were only going to do 4 days of part tickets (and one day at Universal). Now we are doing 3 days of park tickets (one day MK, one day Epcot, half day DHS/AK. I do rope drop and stay all day). And then we have 4-midnight MNSSHP and one day Universal/Islands of Adventure. That's plenty for us. My family has also clued into my Disney love, so my bro paid for our flights and my SIL paid for Memory maker for my bday. Adding $30 to MNSSHP didn't hurt (that $147 per person at Universal stings, though.)

The cost can be "softened" by sacrificing other things during your trip.. and Disney may see a hit in other places because of the increased pricing all around.

I suspect a lot of families will still vacation to WDW and still do a party, but just maybe not at the extent they used to:

Stay ONE less day for your trip and these tickets are probably paid for.
Go to a theme park one less day (say the party day)
Don't get hopper passes for your trip this time around ..
Cut out a character meal.
Downgrade to the Quick Service dining plan
Don't get the dining plan at all
Make your souvenir budget smaller.

Yup -- I've cut out a character meal, didn't get hoppers this year, and are not doing the dining plan. Cutting out the dining plan and character meal alone has saved me over $400 (family of 2) -- and that is with still keeping a few table service meals.

This morning at work when I saw prices started at $72 I thought, that is not so bad. Now that I am home I see the night I wanted to go (wanted to go) is $91. Were gonna pass this year. I'm glad that I booked the California Grill as a back up, just in case the cost was more than I wanted to pay. And it is. I have a 9:00 pm ADR and that will work perfectly for fireworks viewing.
