Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party / Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party Tier Pricing. SAD

That's a lot higher increase than usual. I think that'll really decrease the sales as people will think it's not worth it. I still predict similar results for the 1 day passes during peak seasons. Maybe that really is the point however. Maybe it is all about crowd control and getting less people to come because of overall crowdedness recently. Whatever the reason it's still sad

Why is the price higher on Tuesday Oct 4th than the Thursday Oct 6th party? Also, why no Annual Passholder ticket prices that day, but they are available on Thursday?

I was planning on going on Oct 4th because I thought a Tuesday night would be slower. Now I may need to change some dining reservations (which I can't seem to do) or suck it up and pay a little more per person. Just seems odd to me that that random day is higher priced with no AP discounts when I thought Tuesday were a slow party day.

I really only looked at my date, which is the same price (or maybe even lower) than what we paid in 2014. I am now wondering if the low prices for the earlier days will push the local APs into those dates. I was hoping the first party wouldn't be too crazy, but now I'm afraid it's going to be bad.

The early September dates didn't have much of an increase. All of October did. and what's with September 23?

I'm guessing they're trying to "push" some guests into the dates that don't sell as well.

That is the night I wanted too. Not sure why a Tuesday seems to be a prime party night.

I wanted to add that I sent off an e-mail saying how disappointed I am by the substantial price increase, and how my family will be skipping the party. I'm sure it won't do any good, but it makes me feel a little better to let them know how I feel.

Or the people like me who have been to many many parties, and find the cost increase is not justified. They can charge what they like. I choose to go spend my money somewhere else.
Either way that will make it less crowded which is better for us. Hopefully more people start boycotting. :rolleyes1

If enough people boycott then there won't be any parties. But I imagine that you already knew that and just hope for a good balance.

Not boycotting. Choosing to find something else to do that night. Boycotting would mean I'm making some huge statement because of the cost, and I'm not. I'm disappointed, but I already had an excellent back up plan in place.:teeth:

Highly doubtful. There's always going to be a huge group of people who will pay whatever the price may be. Just check the official mnsshp thread to see that. The more people being priced out the better for my family.

Hopefully for your family it won't end up like the early morning hours where they sold so few tickets the almost gave a bunch away to others. If Disney offers a discount on party tickets because they sell so few, I may rethink things.:tilt:

In all seriousness, they do need to find a balance. Not so many guests the park feels packed, which many have complained about, but not so expensive they don't sell as many tickets as they would like.

DH and I had our first opportunity to be at Disney early last November when the MVMCP started. Although we have AP's and are DVC (thus could have had a discount) we still thought the price was too high for the MVMCP so sadly we passed. Really didn't want to spend the $150 for the 2 of us to go. NOW it's gone up like another $20 - guess it's pretty much sealed now that we'll NEVER get to go to a Christmas party. This fall we've planned to go down in Sept. for a quickie 4 night F&W trip and hoped to see the MNSSHP. Since the price for this is still less than last years MVMCP and it didn't go up AS MUCH AS the MVMCP tix I think we will still plan to go (especially since we'll be there in Sept. and can attend one of the cheaper Sunday nights). (If we don't go now then the next thing you know they'll drop the AP / DVC discount or something and or they will raise the prices to keep up with the MVMCP prices.) It's only the 2 of us (DS is will be away at college) so we'll suck it up - but not exactly thrilled with the pricing. I fully expect that it will be the first and only time we ever go - but I just feel like we need to go to at least one holiday party at least once.

yes, i was surprised to see how much they increased! i was planning on a 2 day ticket with one MNSSHP which i figured to be about $270 for two adults and 1 child.. thank goodness the baby is free, and now it is $298 which is the same cost pretty much as getting another day ticket. geez. once the baby gets to be 3 we won't be able to do disney parks unless we go with a value resort.

and last year we waited for Pooh to come out, and he didnt even come OUT until 7:20!!! atleast have them on time! then we still had to wait our turn! we never got to see Minnie or Donald, their line was huge all night. we got to see Mickey/Tink on the way out after everyone had a meltdown at 10 b/c the fireworks scared the 3 year old and woke up the baby. We missed both parades, it was either get a candy corn ice cream cone or book it to the parade, so we chose ice cream, had to stand in a huge line of a group of girls who each ordered ice cream and an ice water, it took so long to get the ice cream. it was good though. waited in a long line to see Buzz, which of course had to take a break right before it was our turn.

I always say disney is not a right to everyone. Even if they charged $110 a party, people would attend. Id rather it be high and less crowded.

The price increases are about what I expected. I don't think they're that bad. :confused3
We're going. Party of 3 adults and 3 older teens.
Wouldn't miss it.

Well, I'm glad we went last year. I had a sneaking suspicion it might go up, and it factored in to my decision to go ahead and buy the tickets. I love MVMCP. It's one of my favorite activities and it holds so many wonderful memories for my family. At around $470 for our family though, it will be a while if we decide to go back. We are pushing the envelope to afford our trip this year, but I agree, Disney is not a right it is a luxury.

Looks like from here on out, I'll just have to space out my trips further and spend more time saving up.

We are wanting to do a Christmas party in that first week of parties, between Nov 12-20. The way the pricing is, not sure if which days they expect to be more busy. I think the Sun Nov 13 is the lowest priced party. But we were considering the Tues and Fri nights as well. So, what's general thoughts on which will be more crowded now? The nights that are a little less expensive so more will come out, or the more expensive nights because they priced them higher expecting bigger crowds? Not sure which way to think about this in regards to crowds, but not happy at all with the prices this year!

Any helpful thoughts on this would be appreciated! TIA!

Look, I love MNSSHP. We've gone multiple times, we plan trips around it. Its my favorite thing in all of Disney-dom. As I stated earlier in this thread I am APPALLED at the price increase. As appalled as I am, I haven't been completely priced out yet. I definitely won't be buying into the upcharge event this year, but we will probably still go to the party.

MVMCP is a different beast. There is no way I'd pay $90 per person for hot cocoa in 75 degree weather to see fake snow on Main Street. We thought about taking a November or December trip this year to go to that party for the first time, but at that price, forget it. From what I understand there isn't anything that is all that special or unique about it. Its just about being in the park, after hours, with Christmas music. I like Christmas music and cocoa as much as the next gal, but I don't $90 per person like it.
