Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Central 2004!!!!!! =0)

It was a last minute request from DD7 for her birthday

Hey I just pulled this on my own DH tonight-- I want my Nov bday present 1 month early- and I told him I know it's alittle over the top and waaaaay more than he'd normally spend-- but I put on the guilt trip about how I don't usually ask for much. As well as always putting myself last for new things, ect, ect.....

He caved and I'm about 97% sure this will work out money wise-- I'll now for sure in about a week.

Will it be too warm Oct. 3rd MNSSHP for kids to wear DS costumes

We were there 10/31/03-- it was soooo hot and muggy. We were lightly glistening :D and our costumes were lightweight.

Too funny kilee! We adults can act like children when "the Mouse" is involved, though. I'm awful to my kids. I tell them that their grades have to stay up to justify missing 2-3 days of school. I had originally planned around Nov. 10, we get the holday off on the 11th. Then we found out that it was Super Soap weekend, which absolutely thrilled DH, (right) decied to go on his birthday, which he had already scheduled as a long weekend anyway. It works for us. My DD7 & DD9 started pooling their cash for spending money. Too funny! they managed to roll $36 in change and add it to their stash. They're up to $71 total between them, including the younger one's $10 from the Tooth Fairy. Unfortunately, (for us, fortunately for her), that wasn't the tooth that we were expecting to come out right now. It was a little surprise for me, she just started wiggling and out it came! She showed me the"really loose one" tonight, thinks that dear TF should reward that one with $20!!!

Inflation and nerve, gotta love 'em!::yes:: ::yes:: :hyper: :hyper:::

You're in Marietta, what do you think of our new 5 unexcused absense law that says that the school district cantake you to court/jail you for up to 30 days ?? Luckily hubby's a doc so I have the excuse thing down cold

WHAT?!? You are kidding me Robin! I hadn't heard about that one! I plan our vacations around the school calender, but that still irritates me a tad.

If they are going to do that then I would appreciate they plan their school calender out more than this year in advance. Makes it kinda hard to plan vacations with DVC when they don't have next year's calender out. I'm in Cobb County, but even Cherokee County has three years out! I want to book a Disney cruise for next school year, but I'm waiting on their calender.

You never can predict when spring break will be, last year it was Easter week, this year it is the week after.

I read all the time on these boards about parents taking their kids out and telling the teacher, principal, etc. Since when did the state of Georgia value family time so little?!?

FINALLY Got our costumes planned and bought. We are doing a PoC Movie Theme.

DH is dressing as close to Jack Sparrow (oops sorry - CAPT Jack Sparrow). DD & I are dressing alike and our costumes will be similar to Elizabeth's maid. They will be different colors. We have been finding lots of goodies to go with the costumes on Ebay. In fact we got our costumes off of Ebay.

Can't Wait - First MNSSHP - :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Hey....great idea. I like the maids costumes. What did you look up on ebay. Was it a search for Disney costumes or did you get he idea yourself and the look on ebay to see if they had the costumes you wanted?

Will it be too warm Oct. 3rd MNSSHP for kids to wear DS costumes? Buzz lightyear is heavy plastic-like and and even has thick shoe covers. Woody is pretty heavy fabric too. Do kids wear these DS costumes to the party?
And are they sweaty and hot all evening?
I was thinking maybe I could cut/hem them into shorts, but that may just look ridiculous, plus the costumes are expensive and I want them to be able to wear them for Halloween at home where they will definately need the heavy fabric on their legs and arms
, cause it usually snows!

we have been to 2 MNSSHP in early October, and both were HOT. 2002 was worse than 2003

I have seen kids wearing the DS costumes, some appeared fine and others looked miserbly hot and sweaty.

we dress our kids in something simple and festive. Target & Old Navy sell cute Halloween t-shirts that are usually $5 or so...paired with a pair of shorts and you're all set! I've also thought of using a solid black t-shirt, in case I can't find a shirt I like. They pass out glow in the dark stickers at the entrance to the party, so that would be cute with the plain shirt.

I plan on doing the same thing this year, with the exception of DD. She's wearing a ballet/princess costume that can only be worn "as is" in Florida, LOL....in Kentucky she'll need some extra clothes underneath!

Hi all. We are going Oct. 1 to our first party. thinking of going to Ohana's for 5:00 pm PS. My question is what time does the party official begin? I know they let you in around 4, but do they stop you from riding at 6 and usher you into an area until 7?
I'm just wondering if it pays for us to get to MK around 3:30 and do some rides then go to Ohana's about 5:45. We have UPH passes so it doesn't matter. We will be going to the waterpark from about 10- 1 and then back for a rest. I will have a almost 3 year old and 7 1/2 year old. Sorry for rambling just confused if should try to get some rides in or let them rest and do what rides we can during party.

Thanks,

Hi Barb. We'll be there on the 8th of October, I'm pondering this too. I have us moving to the Poly that morning from WL, have a PS for lunch at Kona Cafe at noon, and one at Plaza Restaurant at 12:20, will probably cancel the Plaza one. We have a PS for O'hana for 5:40. I am now seeing things about people being allowed in early with their wristbands, maybe I should book for earlier  We'll probably do MK a little that morning/afternoon, then rest till dinner at the hotel.

I am planning a trip to MNSSHP on the 29th (friday) --- We already have PS for LTT for 4.45 or soemthing like that...

Here is my question - which really has nothing to do with timing. I was thinking of wearing my wedding dress and a tiara to be a princess that night - Would the barber shop on Main Street do a quick Hair twist something for me? Are they open all day? I could go over get that done then change for the party later if I wanted to ... I have been to the park many times but never checked out the barber shop --- so I wasn't sure if it was all just hair cuts or what...

TIA!

Far as I know yes the rides are stopped and you're ushered over to Tomorrowland.I think you might be pushing it with a 3 and 7 year old doing all that in one day,a waterpark then some rides at MK,dinner and MNSSHP. The water park can wear ya out! I'd take a nice rest then head for dinner, maybe a bit earlier. The party starts at 7pm and up until last year we ALWAYS got in about 6:30pm.We attended 7 MNSSHP doing it that way and we NEVER felt cheated time wise going to the party during it's "offical" hours.

ljb9539....Would the barber shop on Main Street do a quick Hair twist something for me? I'm not sure they do "do's" like this at the MK Barber Shop,do they? If you can't get it done there hair salons are located in some resorts.Contemporay,Yacht and Beach,Grand Floridian,Swan and Dolphin and Coronado Springs all have hair salon services available.

My family is actually spending the day at MK on Sunday, Oct. 24. I just found ou about this great halloween party at the park. Do we have to buy seperate tickets to stay in the park? If so, do you get a break if you bought a regular ticket earlier for the day. I would appreciate any info you can pass my way.
Thanks, Lisa

:earsboy: WELCOME to the DIS lizajune !! :earsboy:

NO you DO NOT get any sort of break for being there earlier in the day...this is Disney ya know and Eisner needs every penny he can get before the end of the year! OY!

Just wondering about Halloween night being sold out. Is it possible that WDW may be holding back tickets for resort guests that come at the last minute?

Now that I have a wonderful trip planned someone wants to come along but that night is sold out (we are staying at POFQ for the first time). Do you think Guest Services at the resort may have some for sale?

Also wondering how many tickets is considered "sold out"? Does that mean it will be over crowded?

Thanks for all of your help and hard work on this thread Baloo!:wave2:

Hi

This is my very first post, please forgive any transgressions:)

Myself DH and DS9 will be visting WDW for 2 weeks Oct 23 for 2 weeks. first visit and surprise for DS at least untill his birthday 5th September.

The first thing I did was to book tickets for MNSSHP on 26 Oct, they came yesterday. I have Minnie Micky and a kids Goofy. I was so excited the delivery man from DHL gave me a hug!! What I really want to know is someone suggested the broadwalk for Halloween night itself. What happens does anyone know? and will it be suitable for my DS?

Many thanks to everyone your ideas and tips have made my planning so much more efficient ( I cant say easier as a little knowledge seems a dangerous thing and I just keep finding more things)

LOL A very excited Jude

Thanks Shan for the welcome.

I've been looking at the other boards. I've just read 50 pages of tips and must do things!!! How will I have the time!! I'm just so excited.

In the UK dress up for Halloween is normally ghosts and witches, stuff like that. My DS9 has a ghost costume where he uses face paints to be all white with big black eyes, is this ok or should he wear one of his Disney costumes? Or do I need to start being really creative? I've seen alot of good ideas and links here?

Also will HM be too scary for him?

:hyper:

Remember it's called "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party" and they really mean it.::yes::

It is not scary at all - to me it's more of a festive, upbeat atmosphere. The only part that seems a little creepier than normal is the Haunted Mansion. They have scary sounds blaring on loud speakers and special lighting (or so it seemed to me) but I absolutely love it! You can't beat riding the Haunted Mansion on Halloween. A 9 year old may be a little intimidated - it just depends if the ride scares him or not (my daughter has always laughed at it since she was 6). The rest of the park is very festive and not scary at all.

Hope to see you there!:wave2:

:Pinkbounc

Thanks. It sounds great, I really cant wait (I am that pink bounce!!)

I'm sure DS will be fine and very excited when he knows he is going. We're not telling him till Sept 5th (his birthday). He just loves trick or treat, its his favourite. pirate:

Just remains to persaude DH of the need to dress up and be part of the magic. Havent decided yet what I'm going to be - too many choices.

Will we see you there? We are there Oct 23 thru Nov 5th and at the party on 26th. :goodvibes

hi jude:wave:

i'm still trying to get my dh to dress up::yes:: but he is having none of it:rolleyes: it's as much as i can do to get him to wear a halloween t-shirt

anyway hope you have fun:tongue:
