I have a co-worker who's telling me about Mickeys Merry Christmas Party he attended at WDW. I'm wondering if they have that at DL too or just WDW? He says you have to purchase a wrist band and the park closes early and stays open to only the people who purchase the special wrist bands. Were only going to be at DL for a 3 day weekend so I'm hoping this isn't the case. Anybody know??:surfweb:

Technically Disneyland does have this. It's just offered for free, so it's not promoted in that sense. You have to pay extra to see the fireworks, the parade, etc. at WDW. It already comes with the admission at DL, including the Christmas overlayed attractions.

No "after hours" party at Disneyland (yet). I fully expect this to happen next year.

This year will be a test to see how popular the every night candlelight processional is. Next year, my guess, is that the processional will be available only during "after hours" at a separate admission party. So if you want to see the Christmas Parade, Fireworks & Processional, you will have to pay an extra admission for the private party.

This is one of the questions addressed in the "Frequently Asked Questions" section of this specific post from the Christmas/Holiday Season Superthread: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39197550&postcount=3

I have thought for the last couple of years that a Christmas party is coming, but wasn't sure how soon and how/where Disney would set it up. The existing holiday fireworks and holiday parade have been around for a long time - I'm not sure if Disney would possibly do all-new versions of a holiday parade and fireworks for a party or try to use the existing ones, which may or may not be enough to lure people into buying tickets. The Candlelight Processional is also a gamble, which is why it's being tested out this year to gauge its popularity. I guess we'll see what happens in 2013, and if that's the year for a party or if it will be 2014.
