Mickey's Jingle Jungle 5K - 2013

But the 5K is timed. We have to do 16 minute miles or we will be picked up. I am confused!
Also, I was told to leave no later then 5:30 from our resort??

It's not timed. If you look at what is included in the registration they don't mention the bib tag like they do in the half marathon description. I think they put the pace requirement there because they don't want people out there for TOO long. Anyone else can chime in on this if they know more about it than I do. :) But if you look at the results from each of the other Wine & Dine weekends you'll notice that there are no 5K results there. That's because they don't record the times. A PP said they do pick people up in a golf cart if they need a ride but I don't have experience with that personally. All I know is I did the WDW Marathon Weekend 5K in 50ish minutes and it was fine!

5:30 is probably the way to go...I am sure that's when I will get on the bus but definitely no later than 6. It looks like the buses stop at 6:30.

I hope this helps and didn't confuse you any further! :)

Got it! Makes sense. Thanks for your help!

We did the 5k during marathon weekend. It took my mom and I 1 hour and 3 minutes and we started in the last corral. There were many people who were behind us. I think it is more to make everyone in the family/travel group feel part of the race weekend. The races start early enough that it doesn't really mess with park hours.

My mom did how ever do some training to prepare for it. She now wants to start running with the rest of us.

I just realized that we will be in Disney for this race! Well, we would have to arrive one day earlier, but Dh said it would be ok. I am currently doing C25K and have just this week gotten to the point where I can do 1 mile without walking. Am I crazy to consider this? My Dd (10) wants to do it with me, but she hasn't done much in the way of running, so I'm not sure how she would do. Is the race likely to fill up or do I have a little bit of time to continue training and think about it?

It usually doesn't fill up until about a month to a couple weeks before so yea, you have time. RunDisney.com will post a bar on their site letting people know how far along with sales they are. It starts once the race is 50% full.

Remember you don't have to run the whole thing. I just finished the EEC with a run/walk combo in 29 mins. By walking some it allows me to recover and run quicker.

Good Luck!!;)

I'm planning on power-walking. Since they took the stroller division out, I'm doing it solo, so if you need a walking partner!

Has anyone registered 2 people within one session or do you have to do full registration twice online with active.com? I'm trying to reg myself and 9yo daughter for the 5K :-/ I called cust service and sadly she didn't really seem to know either :confused3 Thanks!

Yes :( Flat out having issues registering both of us... it says I've already registered b/c I'm using my own email for her. How did other get this to work when registering for your kids along with yourself???

I did two separate registrations for myself and my daughter (10). However, I used my email for both and didn't have any problems.

Thx, finally got it to work! Who knows what was up :confused3 Very excited tho... is this y'alls first race for Disney? We've done 5K's in the past but I am not so in shape now... good motivation to start getting back on the ball :thumbsup2

Just chiming in as a new runner and first time rundis-er :cheer2:

I was one of the last few people to sign up for the 5k. I saw it hit 99% and made a split second decision! I will be running solo and checking out F&W for the first time too. I am getting really excited for it!

Glad you got in! You'll love the Disney races... such a good chance to see the park.

Good luck.:)

runDisney events can be quite addicting! Take your time at the Food & Wine Festival. It will be crowded that weekend. Hopefully you will be getting in a couple days early and can do it on a week day (or two or three).

This will be both of our first 5k. I did couch to 5k and an now doing the bridge to 10k program. However, all of my running has been on the treadmill, so I'm a little nervous!
