I am hearing from a reliable source that AK's parade, MJJP, will cease in June. Assuming that's true, MK will become the only park to feature any kind of parade at that time. There has been speculation for months that MJJP might be nearing its end, but original rumblings were it would have ended by now. Perhaps the lack of a full-length afternoon parade at MK at this time gave MJJP a short stay of execution as it were.

Hopefully Festival of the Lion King will return by then to take some of the sting away for AK visitors.

Not going to August and was looking forward to this.

AK needs something to end the day as MK, Epcot and Studios have a final show.

I'm glad we will be there in May before it ends. This is one parade that we've never seen and I've always wanted to. It just never seemed to work out. But DD and I both have it on our "must do" list for this trip.

This is upsetting news. Me and my brother were picked to be in that parade when I was 16! Gonna miss it:guilty: Hope they replace it with a new parade.

Nooo! We love this parade! It's so colorful and energetic with great music. Our favorite parade. We've been very open-minded about all of the other changes including MBs and FP+, but this is too much. I am very sad.

I really hope this report is false. How can they arbitrarily cancel this fun and popular parade without replacing it? They want to give us even less to do at AK, and have a daytime parade at only one park out of four? Ridiculous and incredibly chintzy decision, if true.

People tend to clean out of AK after the parade, so that's not good either. The park would usually quiet down quite nicely.

This is really going to make AK even more of a half day park. We were just there 2 weeks ago and the plan was to stay for the parade and then leave but without FoTLK and having done Finding Nemo recently (and with grumpy kids, lol) we couldn't find enough to do until 3:45 or whenever the parade was scheduled. Are they ever going to bring back parades to the 3 non-MK parks or is this a permanent thing. I really missed having one at HS.

Avatar-Land isn't here yet. There is no evening entertainment.....Epcot can get away with no parade.... but I'm not so sure about Animal Kingdom Park! Where is the balance here???? Why does it have to be give and take at Disney????? Can't we have it all?:confused3

Well, they do have about a billion and a half reasons.......... ;)

What a shame though. Maybe they are hoping people will clear out sooner and not be using up spots on EE.

Or maybe they'll use the money saved to fix the Yeti?

:lmao:

They can now reschedule those out-of-work parade puppeteers (of the giant birds, etc.,)
costume them in all black outfits, and station them inside EE and
have them animate the Yeti by hand via "puppet sticks."

See...... LOTS of potential here. ;)

It will be sad if this turns out to be correct. It seems WDW is getting rid of more and more these days. Anything that isn't turning over a dollar is getting booted.

If true, I may have to check it out when I'm there in April. I've only been to AK once since the park opened (and that was just last year!) and we didn't watch the parade.

It's a great parade, sad to see it go.

Well, there is supposed to be a boat parade coming in 2018 when Avatarland opens. That's only 4 years away, or more if they have the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train crew do the building.

This just seems so stupid to me. The parade was the reason we stayed there til 4 or 5 pm. I'll basically watch any parade, love them.

Now people are just going to be clearing out earlier, getting ready to hop somewhere else. I thought spreading out the crowds and utilizing blah-blah-blah was one of their goals.

We saw the Christmas version in November...it was just darling.

In a park that is already so thin on attractions, especially for little kids, why cut one and one that appeals to little kids for that matter? Was it really that expensive to keep running? The mind boggles.

Not that I'm a definitive source on anything happening at AK or anything, but I do work there, and I do work parade, and I have heard nothing about it closing. I know, I'm only a CP, and I have no insider information or reliable sources to quote. However, we should probably take this rumor with a grain of salt anyway, since over on the Rumors and News board, rumors indicated that it was supposed to close many times over the last few months. Anyway, hopefully it won't close. It's a lot of fun, so even if you don't think it will close you should still check it out on your next trip!

You should probably read up on the advisories section of the HUB if you want to be in the know of what is happening on property.
