Don't count the stuff at the resorts for Halloween, that's all free and not part of MNSSHP.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh....you may give Disney an idea!

We will not be attending the MNSSHP because we have 8 people going and it came to $500!!! We cannot justify that kind of a cost at the moment. But who knows, it is probably are only chance at taking our kids in October.....so who knows if we will give in.

If the OP can't afford it, I think she shouldn't spend it. And yes I think it is wildly overpriced. As for taking herself and one child, I can't even imagine explaining it to the other children especially since they would probably want to go. It would be different if she had brothers and was going to the princess breakfast or something. On a side note, I think it is hard if you go during one of your children's birthdays. I mean how do you top that next year? And what about the other child's birthday? I dunno. Maybe it is fine but I had a friend who did it and their grandkid expected that kind of grandeur every bday from then on.
