We are purchasing the dining plan for our trip but as we don't come often we want to do some dinner shows. I don't want to use them up on places that need 2TS and we want to do CRT. So which one of Mickey's Backyard BBQ or Hoop Dee Doo, or are they both worth it? Going with DH, DD 12, DD 9, DS 8, DS 6. :confused3

If your on the plan I wouldnt use credits for either since they both require 2TS, so I would pay OOP. Hoop de doo is a real favorite, you dont hear too much about mickeys backyard bbq, but as far as a dinner/show goes, hoop de doo would generally be the consensus pick if only doing one.

We did the BBQ and loved it, it was our 1st night and 1st experience at WDW, yes it was very hot the night we were there...but coming from Wisconsin, that was fine, we had just come from the cold. My kids LOVED dancing with the characters and the food was good too.

We go to all 3 major shows each year. HoopDeeDoo, BBQ and the luah. I agree that I wouldn't use the ddp for the shows. You can book these in advance and they all require prepayment so we always have these shows prepaid before we get there. The sooner you book hoopdeedoo or luah the better the seats. BBQ is general admittance. My kids (ages 7 and 4) have the most fun at hoop and bbq. For adults it's probally hoop and luah.

I hated that we wasted 2 TS credits on BBQ. The food was okay - think 4th of July picnic. It was freezing outside! And my kids were not impressed. We ate and left quickly. It was our first trip so I was very disappointed. I think we would have enjoyed Hoop De Doo more.

We did the BBQ once when it was very hot and we were miserable! The food was fine, but being outside when it is too hot or too cold is no fun IMO! We were so hot we literally had a hard time eating, we felt sick! The HDD, on the other hand, was great fun! We like the food at both, but we are not too picky and knew ahead of time what the food would be at each. I think some folks go expecting 5 star or something. Both are just regular country cooking.
