Mickey & Minnie...wishbook increase...is it worth it?

Oh my god! Im so glad you cleared that up. I was just about to say my dream of a disney wedding was shot. :(:( I was about to cry seriously!! The prices already are horribly expensive!!!

I e-mailed my planner and, as always, she was beyond wonderful. For all that Disney charges an arm and a leg and makes me sometimes question my choice (seriously, even the "low" price of $2500 for the coach is utterly stupid!), they make it up in amazing people. :sunny:

I will be paying the amount stated in my contract, which makes me feel a billion times better. I think sometimes we brides see things and get off on a tangent and then need to relax and come back down to Earth. (Hitting finals at school probably made me more sensitive and more inclined to over react, as well...)

Hi everyone,

I was perusing my wishbook yesterday to see if I could find other floral 'add ons' that I might want to consider and noticed that the cost of having 2 characters attend has increased in price from 1,070 to 1,200. Initially when I filled out the planning pages we asked for 2 characters (Mickey & Minnie) at the price of 1,070.

I still haven't received my invoice yet so I think I may be charged at the increase rate. I realize that prices are subject to change and that's fine, but if it is 1,200 that's getting pretty steep for 30 mins of interaction. 1,200 US = 1,400 in Canadian dollars. I was skeptical that it was worth it at 1,070 US...but now :confused3 ...I'm seriously thinking of cancelling. $1400 Canadian would pay for half a trip back to WDW for our 1 year anniversay.

Those people who have had Mickey & Minnie or other characters...was it really worth it???

p.s., I also noticed an increase in Cinderella's Coach to $2700...
For Keeps- This is totally off topic, but is that a picture of a Scotty?

I decided not to have Mickey & Minnie at my wedding back in June because I thought they cost too much then and now there is a price increase!? Geez! I chose to have the MK portrait session over paying to have Mickey & Minnie show up for a few minutes. With our intimate wedding, I didn't really see much of a point and we didn't have a seperate reception or anything like that. I mean...I love Mickey, but I can go meet him any time and all the time with my park admission...haha! Now, pictures in your wedding dress at Cinderella's Castle...that's a once in a lifetime! ;)

He is a Giant Schnauzer :) The re-sized picture makes him look smaller, but he's really quite BIG! He's about 90 lbs and when we sit down...he's taller than me :teeth:

Technically he's my parent's dog but I go home every weekend to play with him. He's just halarious...and yes...that is a golf shirt he's wearing. I found it at Old Navy, they have a whole line of clothing made for dogs and the idea of putting a Giant Schnauzer in a golf shirt was just too much for me to handle. I laugh out loud every time I see that picture. And strangely enough....he loves it. He struts around when he gets to put in on.

Here's another pic of us together

ITA! To be honest the only reason I added them on in the first place was because DF's face lit up when he found out they could come to the wedding. And so while I passed on the MK Photo shoot after A LOT of hmming and hawing (because in the end I didn't want to get up at that time in the morning the day after, or have him see me in my dress before)...I added the characters.

But after talking it through this weekend both DF and I decided it just was too much. It was great to have the support here on the boards. Everyone here has been such a great help!

FYI:

Talked to my planner, i can only speak for intimate wedding brides, and I can't remember who you all are! :rotfl:

I just talked to my planner and she said all prices that are agreed upon at the time you sign your contract are the prices you pay, regardless of price increases. :listen:

Just thought i would add that info, like i said, i can only speak for intimate weddings.......

I know with customs it is a whole different ball game.

Struts! :rotfl: I love dogs!
Great picture! He is so handsome and cute in his outfit- I am also guilty of dressing up my familty's pets. I'll have to check out Old Navy!
The original pticture really didn't show his size. I have a scotty and my DF sometimes watches his friend's Giant Schnauzer (don't see many of them around here). Great dogs! Thanks for sharing! :wave2:

I think that's so cute that your DF was the one excited about and who wanted Mickey & Minnie! You got a good man there! ;)

I gotta tell you! Your doggie is ADORABLE!! :goodvibes

all depends what you like the best. I personally think the photobooth would be cool and different. but i love the characters too.

Disney does photobooths?!?! I would absolutely love that. Are the pics in black and white? Is it like the ones at a Carnival? I read about them in a magazine and love the idea. This is soooo tacky, but what did they estimate the cost to be? I am sorry to ask, just so excited! :bitelip:

Oh my gosh, I love you!!!! Thank you SO MUCH for clearing this up! I seriously think I saw my life flash before my eyes when I read that :rotfl:

No problem. Thats what Disers are for. I'm glad we got it straightened out.

The photoboth is from an outside company but disney does allow them. The estimate i recieved was 2500 that was with unlimited pics and a site attendant and a cd with all the pics. i googled photoboooth rentals there are lots of company's

From my experience-- sometimes your wedding coordinator will not charge you for the disney attendant with outside vendors. If you dont mention it, sometimes you wont be charged (Helpful hint that Randy Chapman gave me). I didnt get charged for him, and ofcourse, no one was with us while we had him. This might save you some money in the long haul- though you cant quite go expecting this.

Thanks for the tip! I was looking through a bunch of the pics he did and was very impressed. My parents and I have been talking abut the added fees of bringing in an outside photographer- we thought it would be more expensive then using Disney photo because of the fees. Has anyne used him for an in-park reception?

Randy Chapman told me that we would not be assessed the outside vendor charge because he is a 'preferred vendor.' I don't think they waive the fee for random vendors they've never worked with.

I'm hoping I'm not going to get those extra charges for Randy (and A Magic Moment Video) and initially when I asked about outside vendors my WC said there wouldn't be a charge. But I wouldn't know because...I haven't yet got my invoice. I'm sorry -- it's like 27 days to the wedding and I know they said not to worry about it (they'll e-mail it to me when they're done), but geez....I keep obsessively checking my e-mail to see if it's there so I can go over it and pay it. It's driving me crazy

ForKeeps- Have you called your WC recently? It seems as though they are cutting it a little close. You still havent received your final BEO?

Okay, I went through my e-mail. I got my Budget and Banquet Event Order on October 4, and my wedding was November 14th. She gave me until October 16th (12 days) to get it back to her with everything filled in (especially those things which were "to be determined"..).

If your coordinator gives you 12 days as well- thats cutting it pretty dang close.
She then sent me on the 28th the finaled BEO (17 days before my wedding).

I hope that you can get with your coordinator and hopefully you can get it soon! It is something to look at closely, especially your event order.

Good Luck... hoped my timeline helped. But dont stress... they do this everyday and hey- if they dont get you the budget in time- consider it free!! ;) Until you get the bill anyways... :grouphug:
