I have a baby shower to attend and I usually gift diapers and wipes. I'm looking for the best value.

How are the Costco wipes? I hear that the Costco diapers aren't very good anymore.

I have BJ's, Costco, Target, Walmart, Walgreens and CVS nearby.

Check all of them and Amazon, the prices seem to change all the time.

For a while Amazon was cheaper than BJ's, but you have to price compare.

I would be careful about going too cheap, especially for a newborn. I had to borrow a diaper and wipes from my sister in law once, and that’s when I discovered that a) my kids had sensitive skin and b) not all diapers fit the same way.

We generally stuck with what the hospital gave us, as that was working and being new parents was hard enough, but if you want to experiment I would start with small packs first until you see what works best for you and your family.

Good luck! It’s amazing how quickly the time goes.

Oh gosh, my baby days are long behind me. This is for a Baby shower for a coworker. I do agree about having to find the right diaper. Each of my kiddos did differently with each brand. One could only use Luvs (super cheap brand); one did well with anything, etc.

If you want to get them a large quantity of diapers and they don't have a preferred brand, I'd get a couple of different brands. Babies react differently and diapers fit every baby different! Get a middle size pack of Pampers, Huggies, Luvs, a store brand, etc.

Also HIGHLY recommend getting size 1 or 2, not just newborn size! We've used Costco wipes and are very happy with them. Our go to for diapers is Sam's club. But Up&Up (Target's brand) are really good options for diapers too.

Good idea. I also always buy size 2, as everyone loves to gift newborn babies.

people seem to be so particular about diaper and wipe brands so I might be more inclined to give a gift card so they could choose their own-and maybe include (if you want a gift to wrap) a baby wipe warmer (that was a godsend when my kids were little-no cold wipe that they struggled to move away from).

I've primarily used Kirkland diapers and wipes since my 2 year old was born- honestly it was why we got the Costco membership! They did the supplier switch just as she was sizing to size 3s. The new diapers aren't worse, just differently sized. I found them to be much smaller than the previous version, so it might be an issue if the baby is a higher percentile.

The wipes on the other hand are awesome! They're large, soft, not sopping or dry, don't irritate DD's eczema, plus they perfectly fit one package into the OXO wet wipe container. We use them even in the kitchen to wipe faces, hands, and trays. I stock up every time we go and will probably use them even when DD is out of diapers!

Since these are for a baby shower, I would suggest only buying a large box of diapers in a larger size if you want to make a diaper cake or something like that. Otherwise, a few small packages of different brands might be better. Costco diapers were perfect for my average percentile baby, but every baby is differently shaped and sized so they might not work for every little one.
