I have the the Mickey eyelets that are sold at the Disney World Resort. They are bigger than the others I have from Making Memories. My problem is, I can't seem to set them using my eyelet setter. They are either too hard to hammer or I need a different setter??? I can't make it budge and the first one I attempted to hammer began to split. Help! What should I do? Are there special setters for larger eyelets? :confused3

ok, depending on some of the eyelets and also some setters make some eyelets split. they either split into 4's or more...kind of looking like a star on the back. that is normal for some eyelets.

i have never had a problem with them with indenting the back of the pages that are on the other side of it. if it concerns you, just use a scrap of paper and adhere it over the back of the eyelets so you have that added cushion.

I think I worded that wrong. What I should have said is that the back WON'T split but the front of the Mickey head began to crack/break after I hammered. The back won't budge!

I don't have the answer as I haven't tried to set mine yet, but I'm pretty sure this was discussed previously. If you can't find it using search, how about adding the question mark to your thread (there's a radio button to select if you go back & edit it - below the text entry area I believe) - and maybe add to/change your title to something like "setting Mickey eyelets ??? " Then you might get some other people to respond who know what they're doing.

Question - Are you using the "one size fits most" setter that came with the MM tool kit? Or the 3/16" size from the Universal Eyelet Setter set? I got the universal setter (with a coupon of course LOL) because I had some flat-topped eyelets that were supposed to be 1/8" but were actually slightly smaller & the one-size-fits-most type didn't work. I had problems using it (the old one) with a few of my 3/16" eyelets also.

Maybe that would help? But if you're like me you don't want to waste any!

Thanks! Doing the search helped!

I used my Mickey eyelets for the first time this past weekend and I used "The Silent Setter" to set mine...no problems, no bending or cracking. With the Silent Setter you do not use a hammer...you twist the knob on the setter..hence the name The Silent Setter.
