Mickey and The Promise of Cheesy Dorito Fingers- Oct 2012 PTR Update 10/06

Awesome purchase! I just sold my old Pilot when it hit 200k miles. They are great cars and so roomy. I drive about 400 miles a week between dropping off at school, going to work and generally running around. Add in a few trips a year to grandparents in FL, etc. and it ends up with lots of miles.

I'm sure your going to love it!

I feel you. Chris generally drives about 600 miles a week:faint: I'm so glad to hear that you woudl recommend it and that it was reliable for you.

They DO grow up SOOOO fast! They are just adorable...I feel like their "godfather"...;)
Nice grab on the Honda, one of the most dependable makes out there...now time to get shopping for your Lexus...or SL...

Still trying to get our "plan A" trip worked out...rooms are booked, a few meals too...but if stinking' US/IOA don't get THEIR act together and get the "Minions Ride" opened, I'll hafta scratch the early June date, and see what I can throw together for later in the month. Hate that..cuz I got an awesome flight for Gage and I...June 6-only $60 bucks!-but there's nothing even close to that now for later.
Also have car rental, one way even, for a great rate. :cool1:

i think that they are adorable too:)

But Lexus- no thanks! i wouldn't be able to afford the parts on those babies. I really am not sure what i want yet. I think i want something closer to a wagon in style- but that really limits my options and it seems that the few options that exist are domestic. I've never had a domestic before.

I can't believe that you found a flight for $60- unheard of! For that price, i'd have no problem talking Chris into a few trips a year.

We both ended up getting our dresses last weekend! :bitelip: We're both really happy with them :goodvibes Mine had to be ordered in though, because I needed it in a smaller size, but my fiance's was perfect.

I can't believe I had so much to catch up on! :scared:

Your first day sounds fantastic :thumbsup2 It's making me wish I were there right now! :wizard:

And the thought of a surprise is exciting :hyper: I always wanted to get surprised with a trip to Disney World...well, I still do  There are lots of fun things you could do though...have you given it much more thought?

Also, congrats on the new car! :cool1: Looks like it's going to work out great for you guys, and there'll be enough room so you won't all be :crowded:, which is always a good thing ::yes::

i think that the car will be great!
i haven't given much more thought to the surprise yet. I am like you though- i can't think of a much better surprise than WDW! maybe one day....
i still need to finish the rest of day one. not that there will be much to it getting there late.
did you post pictures on your PTR? off to look.

Congrats on the new vehicle. My dad has had a Pilot for quite some years now & he still loves it!

The little ones do grow up fast, don't they? I am already dreading my little boy starting kindergarten in 2013. :(

thank you!

i was dreading the start of Kindy for Maya. i was very glad that her late birthday allowed us extra school free time. that being said, it was so amazing to watch her change through this year. i was shocked at the ways she has matured.

not all of that is good, but it is interesting, to say the least. she was playing at the playground the other day- pretending that some kids were vampires and the other kids went to the safe room. really? i know some of her classmates have older siblings, but still.

I have to say, this make me chuckle. They really do pick up on everything, I am amazed at how much people can underestimate that!. My DH and I had a great laugh when we were leaving his cousin's house and his four-year old god-daughter gave us hugs and kisses goodbye and then said "good bye, drive swafely!"

thanks for joining in!

ok, i still need to complete our travel day. Tuesday

when i left off, we were on the magical express. If we take the flight i think we will, then we will be getting here hopefully by 6pm.

PORcheck_in_lobby.jpg

Then we will check in and head over to our regal accommodations.

portRoyalRoom.jpg

We will just drop everything off, take a few pictures of the room before we destroy it over the next few evenings. then we will head out and catch the boat for DTD. I'm sure we will be starving by then. We will head straight to

earlofsandwichDD-marketplace_DSC00003.jpg

then, i will pocket my delicious brownie sandwich for later, because we will head to dessert at

DTDtrexrestaurant00042.jpg

i can't wait for James to see this!

I'm a bit nervous about the timing of this evening, especially Earl's- it will be prime meal time and you all know how the line can get. I have two back ups for this meal. First, if we run late with ME and check in, we can always eat at Riverside Mill. Second, we can just eat later at T-Rex if Earls' has too long of line.

We may wonder around a bit, but likely not for long. Maya and i will already be on hour 17 or so for the day, and nothing will be unpacked or organized.

My goal is to really really really try not to bring so much stuff. we have fewer days, so there will be less down time. as far as im concerned, if we wont use it in the parks, we don't need it (exception bathing suits)

so, not much to this day- but i had to get it done so i could get on to the fun ones!!

New adventures for this day-

A Surprise trip
Port Orleans
T-Rex

I've heard so many good things about TRex lately. My best friend & her DH took their kids on their 1st Disney trip this past February. She said TRex was one of their favorite meals. She texted a picture of their dessert to me while they were there and all I can say is WOW! That thing looked delicious!

I have really been wanting to try Earl of Sandwich. Hopefully, I'll actually get there this year.

Sounds like a good start to the trip! :thumbsup2

Great ideas for your arrival day!!! :thumbsup2

I just started looking over the park hours for our trip & trying to finalize our trip dates, decide which park we'll go to each day, etc. But now that I read this, I think its a WONDERFUL idea to head to DTD from POR for dinner! I think I'll save our EoS lunch for our actual full DTD day, but we may head to Wolfgang Puck Express, T-Rex, or Raglan Road for dinner! Thank you for the idea!!! Our airport used to have 3 direct flights but now we're down to one morning and one evening. We always take the first flight out & are usually at our resort by noon. I think dinner at DTD sounds perfect!!!

I am soooo excited for your trip!!! We are staying in a Royal Room at POR in December. I may be texting you during my trip to get some pointers since you'll have just recently stayed there! :thumbsup2

I'm behind on my replies -- I have been reading & catching up, just not posting. I tend to DIS between midnight & 3am so I just read & reply later!

I have no idea how anyone keeps an entire Disney trip a secret!!! I know that many DISers have done it & I looooove watching the videos of their children being surprised! BUT I stink at keeping secrets, especially when it comes to Disney!!! I was very proud of myself last trip for keeping the Behind the Seeds Tour a secret from my husband until our arrival day at Disney! I only told him a day in advance, but I still think the surprise would've been better had I not told him at all until we checked in for the tour!!! I'd also like to have a few surprises for Luke this trip (Tyler is too young to understand yet). I totally give credit to you and everyone else who's kept a trip a secret!!! I can't wait for you to tell the kids in October!!!

I have to put my two cents worth in about MNSSHP. On our MNSSHP day, I had originally scheduled a pool/resort day. But we got ants in our pants & wanted to go to a park! LOL! We ended up sleeping in and heading to MK, ate lunch at The Plaza, did a few things, left, went back to the resort for a nap, arrived back at MK around 7pm. My biggest regret about the day was that we were tired a few hours after lunch, so we didn't make it back to MK until 7 -- I had originally planned to be there at 4pm when they first let you in for MNSSHP. And this year, we'll be attending MVMCP and we will definitely, without a doubt, be taking it easy that morning/afternoon and arriving at MK by 4pm. I learned my lesson the hard way, so I'm passing it along to anyone reading this!

Had we arrived at MNSSHP at 4pm, I think we could have gotten some rides in between 4-7pm. I also would've lined up for the 7 Dwarfs by 6:30-6:45pm and then when the actual party started at 7, we could've enjoyed the shows, fireworks, parade, etc more. I felt that it was crazy arriving at 7 -- it was super busy & the lines for everything was already 30-45 mins! So my advice, arrive at 4 and take it easy that morning!

I am so excited about T-rex, and you are responsible for this. You guys were chatting it up on the ADR changers thread and it completely sold me!

you really should try Earl of sandwich. I think they are really tasty. I also think that on a warm day a sandwich can be very refreshing!

We actually have three direct flights, and we have always taken the early one in the past. It would have us landing at 11. But her school schedule is really trimming this trip. i keep having to tell myself we are just so lucky to be able to go during our favorite time of year, but its hard not to be down about losing time on arrival day and days on the end of the trip. I think its a great idea for you to utilize DTD on your arrival day. So many good places to eat there! A (very) small part of me is glad that the park hours are shorter in October, because otherwise we may not have the time this trip to take advantage of being so close and convenient.

I am soooo excited for your trip!!! We are staying in a Royal Room at POR in December. I may be texting you during my trip to get some pointers since you'll have just recently stayed there! :thumbsup2

feel free to text me. I'm working on talking my dh into just getting unlimited- we keep going over our little amount and may as well have the unlimited if we are paying anyway.

I'm behind on my replies -- I have been reading & catching up, just not posting. I tend to DIS between midnight & 3am so I just read & reply later!

that used to be my online time too. it was really a struggle to get myself to go to bed this school year. they have been out less than a week and i'm already finding myself staying up later again. i keep telling myself only 20 more years until they are done with school :lmao:

don't give me credit yet... i haven't been successful yet. its been helpful that we have been so busy lately. less free time = less disney talk= less opportunity to slip! I've convinced myself that it must be a surprise because otherwise she will tell all her friends at school and get me in trouble. I love the little surprises on the trips too. the kids really eat them up! I didn't do too many physical surprises last trip. they each got a goody bag at arrival. But each day, they had a letter from a Disney friend who told them what there surprise was that day. there was something fun scheduled most every day, and i kept that stuff a secret until the day of. you can read about it in my forever long TR if you haven't already. Just check out the beginning of the various days. I don't remember how old Luke was when you guys first took him. But we went when James was 9 months and i promise you out of all 8 of us, he was by far the easiest. If you didn't take luke that young, i'll be happy to share a couple things that worked well for us.

The last time we went to MNSSHP, i had scheduled only one other than for that day. CRT late breakfast ADR. Well, then i decided rather than make the whole group sit and wait for us i should just take Maya early and go see the fairies (line was still like an hour at that point). Long story short, we got back to the hotel near 1 after brunch. i set the kids up to take a nap and right then was when maintenance came to fix the broken toilet. they couldn't sleep, so they ended up going swimming. we finally got a 45 minute rest out of them later, but they woke up cranky. and it was after 5 before we made it to the park. and then no one was hungry. so we also ended up having to use some of our party time later to find food. i was really frustrated with the whole day, because i felt we didn't take advantage of all there was to offer. i know that i am over scheduling this day, but i'm not really sure how else to fit things in. we are used to 12 hours park days, so i'm hoping that it won't be too awful for us. i need to look over the schedule closely again. and just be realistic. 5 park days isn't going to let me do everything i want.

right now, the dwarfs are my top character must do for the party. oh my goodness i cant wait!

Pressure! :scared1: I really hope y'all like TRex or else I'll feel really bad about it. :worried:

Last year for our Disney trip, we went to the parks for 4 days & then went on the Dream for 3 nights. The day we got off the Dream was Mother's Day. All I wanted for Mother's Day (besides the vacation) was to eat at Earl of Sandwich. So, we made our way to DTD once we were off the boat. My little boy was 3 at the time. As we were trying to make our way to EoS, he had a complete meltdown in the middle of DTD because he didn't want lunch, he wanted to go to the Lego store. We finally made it into EoS. As soon as we stepped through the doors, he threw himself on the floor and went into a fit of crying. :sad2: I have never been so embarrassed and angry. I picked him up & carried him outside where I sat him on a bench. I told my DH he could deal with him & walked away. Many tears later (from both us)......we ended up eating at Wolfgang Puck Express because there was no one there (unlike EoS). The food was very good but I just disappointed. Let's hope things go better this year. :rotfl2:

Sorry your DS was acting up! good thing is that no one will remember you guys next time you go in there LOL! I would recommend going at an off time though- or at least before you get overly hungry. Both times we have gone its taken at least 10 minutes to get through the line and another 10 waiting for the sandwiches. not that far off when you compare it to a restaurant but not as quick as you would think it would be for sandwiches.

This is the main reason I am looking at possibly doing a second MNSSHP with just DS and myself. We can do the characters, etc and not worry about the parade and fireworks...since we'll be back later. And on the long car ride back from Legoland I know he'll fall asleep for a nap. Which reminds me...I need to post my Day 2 plans. You can tell me what you think about the 2nd MNSSHP idea. :)

I made a reservation for Hollywood and Vine. I'm not sure if i am going to keep it. I have every desire to get in early- if and only if they are back to old fashioned rope drops. otherwise, if people are getting in early and i'm stuck in the breakfast then it wont do me much good for TSMM. Plus, i'm torn on if we will really make it to rope drop this morning. And finally, i'm still hoping by some miracle that Be Our Guest will be open.

However, every time i see this meal on a TR, i kick myself and say i should have made that ADR, the kids will love it, etc.

And completely unrelated- but my favorite show has it's finale tonight- any one watch Revenge?

and then my favorite summer show comes on next month! Anyone know what i reference when i ask Team Jake or Team Matty?

Personally, I recommend sticking with H&V. We did that, and still scored a good FP for TSM (for around 10am-ish). Both of my kids absolutely loved it, and even though people are filtering in, say, half an hour before "official" RD, it's still not crazy and it was actually kind of nice to see people filtered through the parks instead of rushing all at once. So totally weigh it out. If you really want, have someone go snag a TSM FP while everyone else finishes up breakfast and uses the restroom. Then walk across the street and sign up for JTA. :thumbsup2

I've never heard of Revenge ... and Jake nor Matty are ringing a bell. However, when you mentioned summer shows ... my mind went to one of my favorites. :lmao:

I say keep the H&V ADR. That way you can at least say you've done it. We have an ADR there also. I'm a little worried about the whole TSMM FP but I figure we'll work it out somehow.

You have me stumped with the Team Jake & Team Matty. :scratchin

My son loves Disney Junior so we have a Hollywood and Vine ADR next month. I figure it is the least I can do for him after he sits through both CRT and Akershus. :rotfl:

Ours is for 8:15am. I'll be doing a trip report, but I'll be sure to let you know how it goes as I'm hoping to be able to either ride or get a fast pass for TSM (or both) right after.

definitely have to look at it closer. i heard recently that they had gone back to regular rope drop at DHS- but then i heard it was just because of some group they had there.

I love the show revenge. its horribly dramatic and soap-ish and i can't get enough. its set in the hamptons. a young woman moves in to a house next door to a high society family. you find out that the family framed the girl's dad for a terrorist act years ago, ultimately leading to his death. no one knows who the girl is, and she is there to get revenge on each and every person who played a part in the whole mess. that's a very simplified version, but i'm trying to be spoiler free.

so what is your summer show? this isn't the one i was referring to but i also like Covert Affairs- Augie is eye candy!

I say keep the H&V ADR. That way you can at least say you've done it. We have an ADR there also. I'm a little worried about the whole TSMM FP but I figure we'll work it out somehow.

Team Jake and Team Matty- I didn't think anyone would know what this is. Its a tv show on MTV called Awkward. Its about this girl in high school who is always put in horrible situations by the school bully, whose mom is trying to relive her high school years through her, etc. She starts coming into her own though. Its bad enough to watch and hope that it really is exaggerated, because i cringe at the idea of my kids being that "grown Up" in high school. its probably aimed at 15-22 year old crowd, but i dont care. maybe i'm just trying to pretend i can still identify with them in an effort to forget i'm getting old :lmao:

yes, i'd love to read that afterwards.

more on Hollywood and Vine next post

Love your Day 1 plans, but I am biased because they are pretty much our day one plans. I also think that we will have time to head over to the Polynesian to watch Wishes, but I think I am crazy to think we will have time. I know once we get to DTD I am going to want to spend time in World of Disney or any of the other stores over there. So Wishes is probably a pipe dream. But I am determined to get to eat at EoS!

Great minds think alike:lmao:

seriously though, i'd probably just stay at WOD. then again, i could spend a whole day in there i think! by that time i would be thinking of getting the room organized and not wanting to deal with the buses.
