The last three cruises we have been on we have arrived too late to actually be one of the families that gets to build a car. How early do people get here for this activity?

We usually arrive 15 minutes early and have no problem, but we always cruise in the off season so ships
may not be full. We make sure to arrive early because it's one of the kids favorite activities.

We were on a full Wonder ship in October and got there about 15 minutes before it began and were able to participate.

We were 30 minutes early and missed it but it was a full ship with lots of kids

Is this only on the Wonder? We are cruising the Fantasy in Oct and wondering if they have it too. Is this something you just show up early for or is it a ticketed event?

Is this a family activity only, that is to say you need a kid to participate, or is this also open to some of us older folks who might not be sailing with an age appropriate child?

In my research it looks like this is really for the kids, but an adult must be on the team to use the knife.

We've done it both on the Fantasy and Wonder. No tickets necessary, just show up. It's listed in the Navigator under activities for all ages.

Adults are required to "check out" and return the knife and I've only seen families participate but I don't think adult only teams wouldn't be allowed. But it does depend on your comfort level of going on stage and racing your car against a kids.

We've done this on the Magic and the Dream. It is a fun family activity, my boys enjoyed it. We only arrived maybe 10-15 minutes early, I don't remember it being full at all and I don't remember anyone being turned away. I guess it just really depends who shows up.

Wow we must be very unlucky! My nephew was so excited the last time but still didn't make it
