Some excellent suggestions. Depending on how far you want to go and how isolated you want to feel I might also suggest Kitch iti kipi springs and/or Fayette State park. The springs is facinating and Fayette is filled with history.
I'm a bit jealous of you folks that are heading to Mac for the lilac festival. It's such a beautiful time to go...... *sigh*

Darrow's has great pie, too. Home style cooking.

DisMN...I can't believe I didn't think of Kitchitikipi and Fayette! I agree! These are really neat spots and my children love them both.
