Michael Jackson Death Investigation Complete
Posted Jan 8th 2010 12:30AM by TMZ Staff

The LAPD investigation into Michael Jackson's death has been completed and the case will go to the D.A. within weeks, law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... and, we're told, it's all but certain Dr. Conrad Murray will be criminally charged in MJ's death.

Our sources say detectives completed their investigation late last month and the case will be formally presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney as soon as scheduling allows. Turns out ... the presentation will draw quite the crowd. A number of members of the LAPD and the D.A.'s office will be present, and finding a date when everyone can show is a little tricky ... but we're told it will happen in a matter of weeks.

One very informed source says the LAPD investigation was "exhaustive" and "extremely thorough" and the D.A. has enough evidence to pull the trigger on a criminal case against Dr. Murray. That said, we're told the case is complicated, in part because Dr. Murray did not break any laws in administering Propofol to Jackson.

One law enforcement source connected with the case notes the D.A. has been actively working with the LAPD and it's all but certain the case will be filed. As for the charge -- a decision has not been made, but our sources say the likelihood is involuntary manslaughter, which requires a showing of gross negligence.

The same info but a different article than the one Vixen posted:

Source: DA to seek indictment of Jackson doctor
Jan. 8, 2010, 2:23 PM EST
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Prosecutors are prepared to seek an indictment of Michael Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the pop star's death, the Associated Press has learned.

A law enforcement source who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation remains open said Friday that Murray would be prosecuted on a theory of gross negligence alleging that his treatment of Jackson was an extreme departure from the standard of care normally followed by physicians.

Miranda Sevcik, a spokeswoman in Houston for Murray and his lawyer, Edward Chernoff, said the doctor had no comment and reiterated he neither prescribed nor administered anything that should have killed Michael Jackson.

Jackson died at his Los Angeles home in June while under Murray's care as the singer prepared for an ambitious concert schedule.

The district attorney's office is waiting for the Los Angeles police to turn over the case before presenting it to a grand jury.

To prove a charge of involuntary manslaughter, authorities must show there was a reckless action that created a risk of death or great bodily injury. If a doctor is aware of the risk, there might also be an issue of whether the patient knows that risk and decided to take it...

I hope they fry his license at the very least... but I hope he does some jail time and pays some kind of restitution/settlement to those kids.

Me too. I really hope they have enough evidence to prove he's guilty. I want him punished for what he did. It won't be fair if he gets to live his life doing whatever he wants to do while our angel's life was cut short.

It just makes me so sick to think of that "Dr."-- and I use that term loosely-- took away with his carelessness and negligence. I miss him, sometimes it's overwhelming. :(

dont worry guys ... this man will get his deserving! im 100% sure he will!

This, exactly. The sort of carelessness/negligence that had such tragic results is the sort of behavior one would expect from a criminal drug dealer on the street...not from someone who'd taken the Hippocratic Oath. :sad2: Not saying that medical doctors have some kind of superpowers or something, just that one would hopefully be able to expect a MD to behave in a manner different from a self-serving pusher trying to cover up the evidence of his crime.

I know we miss him, but we really should be thankful that we ever had him.
