UPDATED: L.A. D.A. calls Jackson doc manslaughter indictment story 'bogus'; Murray rep responds to report
by Whitney Pastorek
Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the L.A. district attorneys office, called reports that Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jacksons physician, will be indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter bogus when contacted by EW.com this afternoon. The Associated Press reported that a law enforcement source, speaking anonymously, said the case is edging near an indictment and that Murray would be prosecuted on a theory of gross negligence alleging that his treatment of Jackson was an extreme departure from the standard of care normally followed by physicians.
The L.A. D.A., Sandi Gibbons was quoted in the AP story as saying, no final decision has been made. When contaced by EW on Friday afternoon, Robison stood by that statement. Nothing has changed, the D.A. spokeswoman told EW.com. Its a bogus report. We dont have the case.
A spokeswoman for Dr. Murray sent EW.com the following statement: We have refused to comment on stories involving unnamed sources and will continue to do so. However, we can confirm that we have not received notice of an impaneled grand jury and Dr. Murray has not been invited to testify. J. Michael Flanagan was added to Dr. Conrad Murrays defense team this past week. His offices are in Glendale, California. Flanagan is the attorney who represented Britney Spears in a hit-and-run case. He told the AP he once also successfully defended a nurse who was acquitted in an LA trial after being accused of administering propofol to a patient who died.
Murray has been under investigation for some time in connection with the death of Jackson, which has officially been ruled a homicide caused by acute propofol intoxication. According to previously released court documents, the Houston-based physician allegedly purchased the drug in Nevada and shipped it to California, where he allegedly administered it to the late pop singer on the afternoon of his death.
I guess this means more "sit still and wait" for us. I guess this means more "sit still and wait" for us.
The Good doc was in hiding due to death threats... I wonder if he's able to show his face in public yet.

Guys! Look at my two bottom tags!!!!!!

"After this, we're doing films."

Those were the final words my uncle Michael would ever say to me.
It was at the end of our family day at a Beverly Hills Indian restaurant. While I was saying my goodbyes to the rest of my family, I went up to my uncle and hugged him. I told him that I loved him and that I was proud of him and proud to be his nephew. I also said I would see him soon because I was planning to go to the UK to see his shows. He responded by saying that he loved me more. He then paused, looked me straight in the eyes and said, "after this, we're doing films."
That was our master game plan. You see, my uncle had another huge passion besides music... that was film directing. We would always talk about making films together, me and him, we were going to be a 1-2 Jackson power combo.
That's what I loved about my uncle. You truly believed like you could do anything when you were with him. He made you feel like that. He was so inspirational.
Since he's been gone, a huge hole exists for me. One that can never be filled. An emotional, spiritual, and mental hole. The only thing that helps, is knowing that I am doing exactly what he would want me to do. Doing what he taught me to do . and that's film. And that's why Code Z is so important to me. It's about a promise. A promise to direct films. A simple promise that I made to my uncle, who was and always will be the greatest.
I know someone could say that Code Z is just a zombie series. But it's much more than that too. It's the official start to my film career... when I finally stopped talking about it and started doing it.
I really want to thank all of you for helping me keep that promise.
Taj
