Michael Jackson Memorial

it was lovely, my head hurts from crying, those poor children

Michael always said that once the children were older and said they didn't want to wear the masks it would be their decision. The newspapers don't report things like that though as it doesn't fit in the the image they want.

Its all just so sad - poor children.

I thought that was the case but as you say the newspapers never report such things.

Me too hun, very emotional.

RIP MJ!

It was very well done, very respectable though I didn't like Usher going up to the coffin and touching it.

Yes I must admit that made me uncomfortable too.

I thought the end was especially touching. I was doing well with holding back the tears until Brooke spoke and then when Jermaine sang, that was it. Game over :sad1:

I wonder where he will be eventually laid to rest? I feel so sorry for the children and family. I feel as though a part of my youth has died :sad1:

OMG i am not a Michael Jackson fan but how emotional was that i too was blubbing my eyes out at the end

TMZ-
Michael Jackson signed his last will on 7-7-02, seven years to the day he will be memorialized and buried. Michael was the 7th in a family of 9 kids.

There are various news reports that Michael Jackson's body is not in the casket -- absolutely not true Our sources -- who know -- say 100% Jackson's body is in the coffin that is being taken to Staples Center.

TMZ have people have everywhere.

I'd believe them over Sky news anyday lol.

Was just gunna write the same thing x

The end made me cry too especially seeing how upset his family were.
I hope more people will now see him as a human now rather than the caricature the media created.

His brothers wearing the gloves was a lovely gesture, as well as honouring Michael it also showed them united.

Also hope the children stay with the Jackson family as they looked close to them and very comfortable with them. It looked like they all were trying to protect them on stage and seeing Janet looking after them was lovely. :sad1::sad1::sad1:

Well I was another one who completely broke down last night when watching this. I am a huge Michael Jackson fan and was going to see him for the first time in August. I couldn't hold it together last night and when Jermaine sang Smile it was so touching. I started crying when they brought the coffin out though, it just all of a sudden seemed so real. He was an amazing man and I am glad they spoke about the humanitarian that he was, I think a lot of people forget that.

I will never forget Michael Jackson, the greatest entertainer the world has ever seen.

Hugs to all those affected:hug:

Not sure why the media being blamed for anything. Like the vast majority of celebrities they use the media for their own gains ie dangling the kid out of the window in front of the worlds media.

When Jackson was alive he did all he could to protect the children yet as soon as he has gone the family thrust them in front of the worlds media. Wonder how long before they are in some so called celebrity magazine telling their story and the family being paid huge sums of cash for the privilege

Saw some of the service last night and yes is was OK but both my wife and myself were a bit concerned when several of the speakers inc. Al Sharpton and the woman from the US congress using their speeches to bring up the race card which for us was totally out of order. Also found it strange that for all of Brooke Shields emotions there were no tears and also I read somewhere that her and Jackson had not been in touch since the early 90s - but maybe they had to have at least one non black speaker - and I am not in the slightest being racist in that comment

Also where was Diana Ross. Considering Jackson wants her to take care of the children if anything happens to his mum I would have thought she would have at least been there and most certainly been one of the main speakers

At least now though the world can move on and the news channels and newspapers can get on with reporting other things

The newspapers liked to print stories that made Michael look "Wacko" even if they were true or not, an example being the children wearing masks, which the media mocked him for saying the children must be sad, lonely,no friends etc however the children appear to have had a relatively normal life with friends and day trips out etc. Paris Jackson certainly seemed like a mature, confident little girl.

Personally i agreed with what the Rev etc had to say about racial differences, Michael did break down a lot of barriers.

People seem to forget that Michael was not a white man, but a African American.

Also Paris wanted to speak about her dad, nobody forced her too.

With the greatest of respect not sure how the media can be blamed in reporting on someone who to be fair over the last 10 years or so has not exactly been the most sane person on the planet ie plastic surgery, trying to change his skin colour to name two.

I remember Jackson when he started with the Jackson 5 and when he first went solo the music was excellent but as soon as he started playing with his looks things went down hill.

We sat and watched a bit of Moon walker on Saturday afternoon and we both commented on his good looks prior to him ''losing'' it a bit.

The world will move on but like other ''celebrities'' who pass away they will make more money dead than when they were alive. Lets just hope the children get the money and not the family
