Miami debarkation and getting to airport

Easiest and fastest way to get from the cruise terminal to the Miami International Airport? Can you just get an Uber after you clear customs? We will be traveling with two car seats, so I don't know how well they will work on shuttle buses.

What about Ft. Lauderdale Airport? (for my parents, no car seats)

Our flight back isn't until 4pm that afternoon - any reason we should race off the ship early, or is it better to hang out and get off towards the end of debarkation?

Any ideas of what to do to kill time midday with two little kids?

For MIA, Lyft or Uber works well. We used Lyft in January. It was about $18 plus tip from port to the car rental center at MIA. With two car seats, you may need to upgrade to an Uber XL or Lyft Plus. No experience with FLL.

your schedule sounds like ours! We get off the Magic on April 25th and our flight is not till 4pm. We want to rent a car for the day but I'm hearing awful stories of pick up of the cars. What did you decide to do?

We took the DCL transfer. Just like at PC, it was convenient and on a motor coach. Price was less than PC - $18 pp I think. We rented from MIA for a one-way rental to MCO. Shuttle + MIA rental was still less than a one-way rental from the cruise port rental agencies.
