Just saw the Modern Marvel show about Disney last night and I have a question. Does anyone have any reviews about the stunt show at MGM? I have never heard of it and it just started May '05.

LOTS of discussion on this.

Use the "Search" in the headings and look for: "Lights, Motors, Action" or "Stunt Show" or "Motor Stunt" or similar.

"Search" can get you information INSTANTLY.

We went the first week of December and my boys...who are 6 and 4, absolutely loved it. It truly was great! They shoot stunt scenes for a 'movie' they are making and after the scene is shot in front of you, they go back and tell you the secrets of how they did it. We really, really enjoyed it.

Pretty good show. They do some great stunts. My 9 and 6 year old were mostly entertained. The 3 year old got restless.

The stunts are great, but like Indiana Jones, there's a lot of downtime between stunts where they just jabber about how difficult everything is to do. (Enough! Imagine if I did that to every patient I take to surgery. "I just took out your cataract through an incision I made deep into your eye. Just a few millimeters away from your retina! DON'T TRY THIS YOURSELF! It took me years of training to learn this.)

The downtime is somewhat mitigated by a JumboTron-type TV monitor where they can show instant replays from different angles.

The 6 year-old wanted to go back. The 9 and 3 year olds didn't. The 18 month-old didn't register a vote.

I have no interest in cars, racing, etc., and I really enjoyed Lights! Motors! Action! It's a great show and I consider it a must see attraction at MGM.

Not at all! CVW was just using Indiana Jones as a comparison so you'd know that there's not something going on every single second. With any stunt show, you need to move props into place, set scenery, etc.

Physically, "Lights, Motors, Action!" replaced some of the Backstage Tour - the houses and Boneyard, mostly.

My family gives it mixed reviews. I think it is boring, my girls think it is ok, my 11 yr old son likes it and my DH likes it the most but does say that there is too much down time.

We went the day after Thanksgiving, which was my son's 3rd birthday and we all loved it! ESPECIALLY my son - he still talks about it!

Word of advice, be sure arrive early enough so you don't end up sitting with a pole (holding up the stadium seating) obstructing your view. That was the only drawback to our show.

Have fun! :moped:

We saw it at the beginning of May and both my boys (2 and 4 at the time) LOVED it.

We went back in September and the boys told me that we HAD to see it again.

It will definitely be a show we see every time we go.

Cool thing is that my boys got to meet the drivers afterwards

My DS3 and DH went to this while my DD5 and DS1 caught the Little Mermaid show.

DH loved it!!!! And DS still refers to the "crashin' cars and motorcycles" show.

We thought it was OK but nothing to write home about. The one really bad thing is when the show lets out all 2500 or so people flood the area right outside the exit and that area has very long lines for the next hour or so. When we were walking to the show Muppet 4-D had no lines. When we walked up to it after the show, it was packed as well as that whole area and the ladies restrooms were very backed up and my wife was in agony for several minutes!!...smjj

My mom and I thought it was so-so. It's a great show, but just wasn't my cup of tea. I am sure it appeals more to the kids and macho males!

Now, if I had known I could meet the drivers afterwards, I may have enjoyed it more!!!!!!

;)

I'm with you. I was bored with it. No lie - I fell asleep.

We loved the show! We arrived just as it was starting though and I had to hurredly carry a sleeping baby up what seemed like 200 flights of steps! :crazy2: I was exhausted by the time we sat down!!! My DS and DH loved the show. They actually wanted to go again later in the week.

We were bored with it in June. Thought maybe it was just us and saw it again in December. Guess what, were bored with it again. We both think it is a collasal waste of space and money. Also, I agree that there is way to much downtime in the show.

Since we were there in December, there were a lot of families with toddlers sitting around us. The entire section around us pretty much cleared out about 15 minutes into the show. The smaller kids just didn't seem interested or didn't like the noise. There was a family with pre-teen/teenage boys in front of us and they seemed to enjoy it immensely. Also heard some teenagers talking in the stairwell and they seemed to really like it as well.

Shows like this and Indiana Jones could be greatly improved by eliminating the down time. It wouldn't be that hard with a little imagination. They could have motorcycle tricks up front while they're prepping the area behind the water feature.

P.T. Barnum would not be amused. Circuses have had three rings for a hundred years. They could easily have additional entertainment rather than making us watch drivers give each other high fives and back slaps.

Believe it or not, now that I think about it, my boys were more entertained by the Little Mermaid show, which was much more tautly paced. Again, it's not that bad of a show. But it's not a "must see". More of a "yeah, sure, you'll like it."

I just remember sitting there, listening to this guy talk, and that put me to sleep. The parts I was awake for just all seemed the same to me. "Yeah, wow, you can drive in circles really fast." Big deal.

I thought the stunts were kind of silly. You don't see cars driving like that in movies. If you did, you'd probably wonder what was wrong with the director.
