This is a general comment to the change.

I worry & wonder where they are going with this statement:

a celebration of the new entertainment that today's Hollywood has to offer

"Today's Hollywood" doesn't exactly give me a magical happy place feel!

Im fine with the new name. Im actually excited! I like new things and this name seems to suit this park even more. I cant wait until I pick up a "Disney's Hollywood Studios" park map!! Yay!!

Aw, come on, don't you want to go to Herbie: Fully Loaded extravanganza and character meal at the Lindsay Lohan Rehab Diner (panties optional, with revolving door, of course.) Or don't you want to get your novelty mug shots on the Hollywood Walk of Shame a la Nicole Ritchie and Paris Hilton?

Like I stated on the other topic, I have no complaints. I like whatever Disney creates. But on the otherside the prices I have a problem with.

I say to Disney's Hollywood Studios and beyond!!

Well, I'm still in my twenties and I like MGM better. Of course, I also liked it better when I could actually see the Chinese Theatre.

Of course, I also disagree that Universal Orlando has the movie studio thing down. I believe they jump on fads way too often. I loved it originally, but I'm not really digging it lately.

However, I know I'll love it when they put in Potter. Of course, that's IOA and I don't consider that a movie studio theme park like I do Studios.

I like the ambiance of MGM. It just has a good feeling about it.

It will be the same park. Just a different name. Im sorry, but I really dont see the problem with a name change. People are going to call it MGM still. Again im sorry, but it's just a name.

Although I enjoy MGM alot if you do a poll on favorite Disney parks it comes in last. So I can see why changes need to be made. Just please don't let them take away RNR or TOT. Which I am sure they won't.;)

I've merged these two threads with almost identical names. :)

I write "LOL" everytime I think what someone has posted is funny, but I think that's the first time I actually truly laughed out loud. :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:   :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

BTW here's an article concerning why it wasn't renamed Disney-Pixar Studios, as well as a foreseeable name change to Walt Disney's California Adventure: http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_h...cial-what-s-in-a-name-edition-of-why-for.aspx

DHS??? Thats Department of Homeland Security right?

Anyway, I think this ranks with Busch Gardens in Tampa renamed to "Africa" and
Williamsburg being renamed to "Europe" as a good way to confuse people.

I think Disney Studios Florida would have been fine, now people will think it's in Hollywood.

How about Disney's Classic Hollywood Studios?

I was hoping that they would have announced (confirmed) the Halloween party (with the characters from "The Nightmare Before Christmas") that has been rumored for the past few years, along with the other announcements for 2008. It doesn't look good now, does it? :sad1:

No, it doesn't...you'd think that as mundane as the rest of the announcements for MGM were that if they knew they were doing the halloween thing they would have mentioned it

I have been confused by the reference to 'Disney Studios' while visiting... I ALWAYS said 'Oh... MGM?' and I will probably continue saying MGM. So the official rename isn't suprising, they have been moving more and more away from the MGM for the last few years. Universal Studios has been very much in the news with the 'Harry Potter' theme park announcement.. so who knows if Disney is motivated by that or not.

I personally LOVE the retro stylings of MGM and I hope they don't change any of that when trying to fit in the 'todays hollywood' thing.

Today's Hollywood is filled with dumb and sleazy people, IMO. I wouldn't want to sit down to lunch with most of them, much less pay to be around them. :faint:

If I had any interest in Hollywood or the people who work there, that's where I'd go on vacation.

I hope Disney isn't going to lower itself to all that. Ick.

I am glad of the change. With this name change, comes much needed change for the park in general. There has been a lot of talk about new attractions.. I am looking forward to the changes.

This change needed to happen IMO.

A glimpse into my family:

Mom: "We're going to Disney today."
Me: "Which park?"
Mom: "DIS-NEY."
Me: "Yes, which park?"
Mom: "Oh, I forgot. You weren't born when there was only one park. We're going to Magic Kingdom."
Me: "Seriously, how many years ago was this? How many parks are there now?"

This happens EVERYTIME she tells me she's going to Disney. I really really really need to remember she means MK.

In ten years:

Me: "Julie, let's go to MGM."
Julie: "Where?"
Me: "MGM, you know Tower of Terror?"
Julie: "Oh, you mean Disney Studios. Jeesh mom, how long has it been? Get with it."

Sigh, and this is how Disney will plague our family forever.

And, honestly ... I kinda like Disney Studios. I mean, I'll like it more if they put some more rides in that will entertain my family ... but right now, we enjoy it. MGM, Disney Studios whatever... I doubt we'll use Hollywood, that seems too long.
