MGM Question

I find MGM a half day park not becuase you could not see a day's worth but because I find it the hardest to negoitate- with all the show times set it is hard to get to them all in one day and the rides are mostly very popular and you either have to wait, get fastpass or come back so our MGM plan is to pick 3-4 hard items to get throw in a meal a few characters and an easy place or two like millionaire, walt or muppets and then leave planning to return another day or even another trip( there always is one - LOL otherwise I have been very frustrated in MGM running from show to show only to be too late and standing in long lines- you can go to the water parks in the later afternoon and usually walk in as others are leaving especially if it has rained in the early afternoon.

I agree with FunnyHunny. Our kids are still pretty young, so we typically spend 1/2 day per trip at MGM & still get to see everything they want. I'd go early, hit TL when it warms up in the afternoon, then go back for Fantasmic if you want to see it. Have a blast whatever you decide!

PS Cool link, QuickGold! I'll have to remember that one!

I'm a list maker so we've had that MUST DO, WANT to DO and CAN SKIP list for a few days now. That's how I know that there are only 3 or 4 rides at MGM that we want to do. The other issue that's been brought up on another thread is TL becoming full early. I hope I'm not being unrealistic in hoping to do both in one day!

Maybe if you list what these attractions are, we can give you a better idea. For example, if Al's Toy Barn and Fantasmic were both MUST DO's, it would be hard to figure out how to do MGM in only a half day. Some of the stuff stops a few hours before the park closes, while Fantasmic is at the very end of the night.

Boy, I'm glad we don't all think alike!

MGM is a multi-day park for us! We go on ToT & RnR so many times - One Man's Dream was fantastic - Great Movie ride a couple of times - Time in the Arcade at Pizza Planet - movie lot ride - Animation tour - Fantasmic - WWTBM about 4 times .....

Absolutely my FAVORITE park.

I love Epcot too - but in making a choice that would be my park to go to 1/2 day if I had to. I'd go after lunch there (skipping Test Track cause FP's would be gone) and do the Innoventions, a few more things in front then WS and the fireworks.

The two must sees are RnR and ToT. The ones we may want to do are Star Tours and WWTBAM. Those two aren't must do's but look fun. We aren't really big show people for Beauty and Ariel. I asked my DD and she said "We can go to them if you want to..." She's a mini thrill seeker. She loves roller coasters and haunted houses and the like. The biggest reason she wants to go to TL is the water slides. We've been to a TL like park before but the water slides were a LOT tamer than what the TL slides look like. I wouldn't mind checking out Fantasmic though. Ivory does like that sort of show. What is the Fantasmic dinner package? Does it guarentee you a spot to watch or something. I'd much rather do that if we will get a good view. And if we don't do the package, how bad is the wait for Fantasmic. I've read to get there 1-1 1/2 hours early... Will we go crazy from boredom and fidgety with discomfort? Sitting still isn't DD (or DH)'s strong point!

Here is some info about the dinner package.

fantasmic dinner package

Sounds like the dinner package would work great for you. Last summer, I arrived about 45 minutes before the show (without package) and found a good seat, but they do fill up quickly. There are some spooky elements to the show that your daughter would probably enjoy. :D

Muppetvision 3D is a don't miss attraction in my book. MGM is probably my family's favorite park. We went multiple times our last visit, but missed Fantasmic this time, tried to go twice but didn't want to do standing room only. However much time you can budget at MGM will be enjoyed, I like all their attractions.

I went to the link you posted and it sounds perfect!:D It takes care of dinner AND getting a decent seat! Thanks!:bounce:

We were there last week. Because we had 8 days to see everything, we actually went to TL close to opening time (9:00 am) This was great because the lines for the slides and Shark Reef were minimal to none. And you didn't get pummeled in the wave pool.
If you are planning to do MGM and TL in the same day, don't forget that TL closes at 7:00 pm - So you'll have time to get back over to MGM for Fantasmic. Also, beware of the common late afternoon/early evening thunderstorms that will close a water park down.
The word directly from a lifegard while we were waiting a closure out was, "if there's lightning within 6 miles of the park, the park must shut down. Once shut down, the park must stay closed a minimum of 30 minutes - or until 30 minutes after the last 6-mile lightning."
