MGM or Epcot for fireworks?

We will be splitting a day between Epcot and MGM. Due to our schedule on our daughter's wish trip, we have to choose one fireworks show or the other. Should we stay at MGM to watch their fireworks or go back over to Epcot to see Illuminations?

Editing to add our kids will be 7 & 8 when we are there.

Thanks!

Epcot for sure, unless your DD is little, then she'll love Fantasmic. But Illuminations, IMHO, is the best show at WDW. We watch it 2 or 3 times each trip.

I say go for Fantasmic no matter what...MGM doesn't really have what's considered a fireworks show, it has Fantasmic...it's the best show on property...don't miss it!

Another vote for Fantasmic! I didn't care for the Illuminations...it was my least favorite. Fantasmic is a great show and for kids I would say it is even better.

Doesn't Fantasmic get cancelled a lot more than Illuminations? Depending on the time of year, of course... I'd keep an eye on the weather!

For young kids I'd pick Fantasmic, as there are a lot of recognizable characters in the show. Which ever you choose, I hope you have a magical make-a-wish trip, and my thoughts and prayers will be with you!

With kids I would strongly consider staying for Fantasmic - it has Mickey :smickey: and all of the characters along with scenes from Disney movies, some fireworks, and some truly spectacular effects and tricks (they will be amazed at the finale!)

That said, our absolute favorite fireworks show is Illuminations! The combination of the incredible music, coordinated fireworks, fire effects, etc. make it a "not to be missed" event in our itinerary. One year we managed to watch Illuminations 3 times in a 6 night stay - we just can't get enough! We also like to take a relaxing stroll after the show listening to the music from the former "Tapestry of Nations/Dreams" parade. We linger until we are just about alone along the World Showcase - nothing like it!!

Really you can't go wrong either way. Keep in mind that for Fantasmic you will need to arrive at least 45 minutes to an hour prior to show time to get a seat, especially if you are going when it will be busy.

:tink: Enjoy!!

Another vote for Fantasmic! I know that there are many people who love Illuminations, but I just don't get why. I find it unimpressive.

I voted for Fantasmic before, but have to say I do like Illuminations...the fireworks are beautiful, I just think Fantasmic is better...more Disney magic than Illuminations!

No matter which you choose however, you will see a good show!

I asked my kids who are 9 and 11 (and were 7 and 9 for our first Disney trip) and they say take your kids to Fantasmic! I am bummed for you that you can't see both but given the age of your kids I would have to agree with my kids. Also, this will allow you to avoid the hassle of leaving MGM to go back over to Epcot.

DD4 loves Fantasmic. DS6 prefers Illuminations.

I think it depends on your children. If they are really into the characters and Disney movies, then Fantasmic is the right choice. I think DS liked Illuminations because it wasn't like anything he had ever seen before, whereas much of the Fantasmic show involves showing scenes from Disney movies on screens of water. I do like Fantasmic...however, I go for DD. Otherwise, I would see Illuminations or Wishes every night.

This is one point that I had thought of too.

Thanks to everyone for your input. I am definitely leaning toward Fantasmic since my kids love Disney movies and the characters.

another vote for FANTASMIC

mainly because you can sit and wait for the show

for illuminations unless you are extremely lucky, you will be standing.
and if you are 3 deep, the kids will have a hard time seeing.

hands down do fantasmic
