Mexican Riviera in March or Oct? Which is better weather wise?

I will be booking the Mex. Riviera 2011 while on board next month and I don't know whether to book for our Spring break in March or our fall break in Oct. Will March be cold just coming out of winter? Or will Oct be better and what about hurricane season? I prefer March so I don't have to wait as long to get back onboard but I don't want freezing cold temps either.

Any info/opinions appreciated.
Thanks
Kelly

We were on the Disney Mexican Riviera cruise in July of 2008. We had nice warm weather when visiting each port, but the sea days were very cool...I'm talking sweatshirt, long pants and a blanket wrapped around me as I read my book on Deck 4. I recall folks posting pictures with the blankets that Disney was handing out. I'm not sure why the weather was like that in July. Maybe folks in CA can give us some insight.

In March & October, the evenings will be cooler, especially when you are leaving California and returning.
The days down in Mexico will be about the same at either time of year, although the water will be warmer in October than it will in March. In October, the water will still be warm after the long summer...in March, it'll be colder after the winter temps.

This is what I was thinking as well. Having grown up in Southern California and scuba diving a lot, I can tell you that the water temp in October is MUCH warmer than March. If you are people who like a lot of water/beach activities on your cruises that might make a difference. :)

Melissa is right. October water temps are much warmer. We took the 7/05 Mexican Riviera cruise and FROZE on board. The ports were nice and HOT but on ship

Also, October cruises might not be as crowded as spring break.

I would agree with others who say October would be warmer. As for Hurricanes they are much more rare on this side of Mexico than the Caribbean.

ETA: Oops I forgot that this was an older thread. Sorry for the bump.
