Mexican Riviera Cruise April 3, 2011

The active ingredient in Sea Calm is meclazine. It is packaged for cruise lines. For me, it works so much better than either Dramamine and bonine plus it's free...well I guess we sort of pay for it if you think about it.

I can't believe that this time next week we will be sailing aboard the Wonder. I hope it's not the longest work week ever.

TIP: Bring your own booze for the first few days and then PV is your best bet. Great liquor store right outside the terminal gates (heading right). On the way to the beach. The SS (Grocery Store) has a better selection but I like the people in the small shop.

I am joining my wife, who works on the ship, for the 3rd time.
Here are a few recommendations for fun:

-Don't eat too much on Pirate night; they have a great BBQ buffet just before the fireworks. Usually that’s Thursday night in Cabo.
-Try to stay away from the Walmart in PV. If you have no excursion in PV, try this family friendly restaurant 5 minutes walk off the ship. I can send you a map if you message me.
-The souvenirs are twice as expensive in Cabo than in PV. Get your jewelry/geckos in PV and save some cash.
-There is a great running track on deck 4. The gym classes fill up early so I run instead.
-Goofys is a great choice for healthy snacks. Wraps and fruit.
-Ask for a coffee card at the Cove cafe and after 5 coffees, you get one free. They are expensive so the free one is worth it.
-If you are afraid of being seasick, avoid the patch. They have a free product onboard called SeaCalm. Its new and works great without the side effects.
-The ‘tastings’ are great events for the adults. They feature different kinds of drinks in different lounges.
-Check out your crew-taken photos on kiosks during the week. You may find one you like. It works using your room keycard.
-There is no place to snorkel, don’t bring your equipment. Save the luggage space for your own bottle of spirits or your spare Mickey Ears.

Yahoo! See you on board!

Hi, I am on the cruise after yours, but I just have to ask ... where on board can we get the Sea Calm? TIA! :goodvibes

Finally finished our online check in and selected our port time 1:30pm. Which is fine since we are spending the morning at DL before the cruise. I'm ok with not being in the frenzy of the early arrivals. Now to get the last minute stuff...like sunscreen oops.

Some family just came back from another cruise lines mexican riviera and said that the weather was cold in LA and the next morning but then it was wonderful and warm until they came back to LA. They all had a fantastic tans! They did need sweaters/light jackets at night on deck, fyi.

cya in 6 days!

Hi all,

Just drove 6hrs to Sydney and staying overnight before catching the long flight to LAX in the morning! Can't wait we are all soo excited!
We will probably head to DL before the cruise but not sure what days yet! So much to do, so little time!
Looking forward to setting sail and meeting you all at the meet and greet!

The OZ family - Brad, Suella, Roslyn and Adam :cool1:

Best bet is to just go to Guest Services since they are open most of the time.
When the medical office is open, they dispense it there as well.

Have a great trip! Let the magic begin!

Thanks so much, I really appreciate the info!

Have a great cruise! :cool1:

To all those leaving already (lucky ones), safe travels and maybe we will run into you on the Wonder. (Sunday, 3:00 at the Promenade?)

I'm getting so excited!! We leave on Friday for Disneyland!!

I'm so nervous that I've forgotten a detail - I keep checking and double checking my lists... I cannot wait to leave!!!!

Eeeeek we're so close!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to leave on Saturday morning. We are due to have a nor'easter on Thursday into Friday, with possible accumulations......fun in the sun, here we come!!!:cool1:

Are walkie talkies really needed with advent of the wave phones?

Don't know about your plan...but most charge overseas rates once you leave the port. WE don't turn on our phones at all...so we don't get charged for emails or anything else while at sea. The walkie talkies work great!

Omg what is going on with the weather?? Ok you California natives do you think it will be warm the week after the cruise or should we pack warmer clothing?

Wave phones aren't cell phones, they are "free" (unless you lose them) phones provided in your room to use ll over the ship. There are 2 per stateroom, and some of the other levels have more... I think you can also rent additional ones if you get there early enough.

**edited to add
they are cell phones, but they only work on the ships network.

It's supposed to get to the high 80s this week and then cool down for the weekend (figures!) Bring layers. Even if its hot in the daytime, it usually cools down at night. Spring can bring a lot of temperature fluctuations.

just back to the board after 6 wks away and missed everything ... we are room 7632... hope to see you.

Down the hall a bit, I presume.

We are going to hit the meet at 3 pm, so hope to meet you, if we don't see each other in the hallways before.

so just went thru 6 wks of posts and in last 2 pages learnt of the 'multi post reply' button, arggh. have 4 days to get ready and some of you are already gone!!

is there a way, for those who want, to make a list of the peeps on our board...like someone starts and then keeps editing? i know i've done that before on cruise critic and it was great to keep things straight.

btw, we are 3, wendy, kevin and dd alexa celebrating 7 on the cruise... from san diego. and yes it is cold here but once we get down south it should be great. we always always layer, tho.

last. i am a photographer and somehow am going to be incorporating some shooting in mexico and would love family subjects. this is in no way a solicitation, i don't even know how it could work out, but if you are interested in 'modeling' for me to experiment with some new techniques, send me a pm and i'll put you on a list and be on the lookout for you if i can make this work. (check out my work at wendygibsonphotography dot com)

and if anyone knows if what i've just put on the board is not 'legal' please let me know asap and i will take it down..

awesome info, keep it coming!

in southern california and n. baja, always always always layer!

I'd say the weather here has been quite wacky these last few months, I can't wait to get to warmer weather.

Today it was shorts weather, but it cools off in the evening. Right now it's 60 at 7:00. We are a 3 miles from the ocean, so we usually get fog and cold in the evening.

Had to have a drink tonight...well we are almost on vacation:rolleyes1
