Mexican Riviera Cruise April 3, 2011

Here we go. Who else in on board for an early spring break cruise? Can't wait for next year. It's me and my dd, our 3rd disney cruise but 1st one less than 11 days! :scared1:

Im Michael Wife's Name Is Diana Like You We Love All Things Disney...:cool1::cool1::yay::yay::thumbsup2

We are doing 3 days after the cruise. We are flying in from Texas before the cruise. I'm a little concerned about the flight. I cannot decide if it will be safe enough to try to fly in Sunday morning or to not trust the airline and fly in Saturday night. I just really didnt want the extra expense of a night in a hotel plus trying to find a way to the port. Does anybody have any opinions on this issue?
because no airlines would get us to LA On Sunday Morning we booked a hotel about 2 blocks from La Airport And with free shuttle so that way we can check in at the airport disney cruise line counter and relax and board the bus to Long Beach:cool1::cool1:

Looking forward to the April 3rd Sailing. Can't wait.

Us too!! Packing today!

We are arriving Saturday, mid-day to avoid any mishap and then staying at the Marriott right at the airport. Disney shuttle the next morning to the port.

Packing, cleaning, last minute details. Can't wait to leave ! Fly out early Thursday to Disneyland then the Wonder Sunday--yahoo!! Anyone else at Disneyland Friday and Saturday?:banana:

Also packing, cleaning and doing laundry today. We don't fly out until very early Saturday morning -- landing in LAX around 12:30 pm. Not heading over to Disneyland at that point though. Hope to see you at the cruise meet.

It's a reality now!!!!!!!!:cool1::banana::cool1:

This weekend is packing toiletries and electronics.

Also on a cleaning frenzy because Mary Puppins arrives at our house on Tuesday for dog sitting duty.

We bring walkie talkies with us so each person has one. We let our kids roam the ship and go to the clubs..but can always reach them on the walkie talkie. My son was 10 on the last cruise we took and he loved having the freedom to come and go as he pleases. Food is always available...so I didn't worry about him eating. Just made sure he attended dinner so we could catch up. Worked out great!! Bring nightlights for the cabin..they can get dark at night. Bring cheap hangers...they don't have alot in the cabins.

Are walkie talkies really needed with advent of the wave phones?

Depending on the ages of your kids, and I have 4 of my own, they DCL kids staff is awesome. They love the kids and as a parent you feel totally safe about leaving your kids with them. It was actually tough to get them out to eat and do other activities. Palo is a great place for an amazing dinning experience. If you can get a Palo reservation, I would do it. Well worth it.
I am joining my wife, who works on the ship, for the 3rd time.
Here are a few recommendations for fun:

-Don't eat too much on Pirate night; they have a great BBQ buffet just before the fireworks. Usually that’s Thursday night in Cabo.
-Try to stay away from the Walmart in PV. If you have no excursion in PV, try this family friendly restaurant 5 minutes walk off the ship. I can send you a map if you message me.
-The souvenirs are twice as expensive in Cabo than in PV. Get your jewelry/geckos in PV and save some cash.
-There is a great running track on deck 4. The gym classes fill up early so I run instead.
-Goofys is a great choice for healthy snacks. Wraps and fruit.
-Ask for a coffee card at the Cove cafe and after 5 coffees, you get one free. They are expensive so the free one is worth it.
-If you are afraid of being seasick, avoid the patch. They have a free product onboard called SeaCalm. Its new and works great without the side effects.
-The ‘tastings’ are great events for the adults. They feature different kinds of drinks in different lounges.
-Check out your crew-taken photos on kiosks during the week. You may find one you like. It works using your room keycard.
-There is no place to snorkel, don’t bring your equipment. Save the luggage space for your own bottle of spirits or your spare Mickey Ears.

Thanks for all the great tips. Just curious (and we hadn't planned on going to Walmart) why do you say "stay away"?

We are doing the PV City tour (through Disney). Haven't seen anyone rate this. Do you happen to know anything about it? Is it worthwhile and should we feel comfortable doing it?

Hope you get to enjoy some time with your wife while she's not working!

You can go to Walmart at home. Its the same. The market out front is OK but a bit overpriced.

I have not done the PV downtown tour. On one trip, we took a taxi to downtown and then walked around until we got tired and then took the local bus back to the cruise terminal. You know which bus to take since they have Walmart painted on the windshields :-)

You should feel comfortable on all Disney excursions in PV or Cabo.

In PV, I buy a 6-pack of corona, a plastic bucket and a bag of ice from the grocery store (called SS I think) near the terminal and head for the beach. On the way back, I stop at La Abuela for guacamole. You can do parasailing from that beach and it is way cheaper than the excursion price. Just be prepared to barter and get there early. Its cheaper earlier since there are less people.

You will have a great time with the Mouse!

Well I refuse to go to Walmart here, so certainly won't be going to one down in Mexico!

Again, all GREAT information to know. Will have to look for the La Abuela .... not to mention your plastic bucket!

11 days and we leave for Disneyland then onto the Wonder. I am so excited I can't sleep! Anyone else awake all night with me?:rotfl:
Can't wait too!
We are nearly complete with our FE gifts. packaging/organizing is the fun part! We're still waiting on our FE hanger to be delivered :) Hopefully this week since we leave next Wed. :) Someone else may have mentioned... but does anyone on the FE list have any allergies?

I'm so ready to be on the ship!!

Erin
Good for you. I need to finish my FE's up!

Hello fellow Cruisers! I'm a newbie here. My family of 5 will be on this Disney cruise as well and we're all 1st timers on the Disney Cruise. Hopefully it'll be a very magical experience for our family and meet a lot of people there. Any tips for 1st timers that you can throw us? I've been reading a lot of pages on this thread and have jotted a few things down but any extra tips you can share with us would be great. All ABOARD! LOL
Welcome Aboard!:thumbsup2

great advice, thanks!

Hey all! We too are gonna be at Disneyland also on Friday and Saturday. Also, I cant send PM's yet... but I would love to get some good Mexican Restaurant references. I am looking for places that specialize in more authentic cuisine and offer menu choices not commonly seen in the states. I know that depends on where you live but I think you might get what i mean.

Cya guys soon!

Hey where is the best place to pick up liquor in this trip?

As far as seasickness meds go. I love Meclizine HCI. It was what my doctor recommended when we went to Churchill to see the Polar Bears with Natural Habitat. believe me I was in a tundra buggy for 6 hours and never up chucked once.. everyone around me did ... And I am a person who needs something every time I fly. I have given these to friends on other cruises and even when it rocked the worst we were all fine.

Meclizine is the main ingredient of Dramamine/ Bonine but without everything extra. One pill in a 24 hour period, will not make you sleepy and they have chewables I half the pill for my grandaughter. They are not by prescription but you have to ask for them from the pharmacist.. behind the counter. And they are cheap like 8 bucks for 100 pills.

I am telling you they really do work and there are no side effects.

so close really getting excited now.
