Hi everyone! I'm sure that there will be several trip reports done on this cruise...most probably funnier than mine...so try to suffer along with me. I'm hoping that this time I actually finish it...the last time I made it to about day 5 before getting sidetracked by life in general. Please make comments and ask questions as I go...that's what keeps me plugging along. I'll update the title each time I add an update, and try to add a page number if we get beyond 1 :rotfl: to make it easier for you!

First thing's first...our cast of characters:

Our family is from New Hampshire (Live free or die dude!)

DH - ME, or Drew. I know, I know, DW and I should have different names on here to make it easier, and I'm sure she will contribute from time to time. I'm 40 :scared1:, just turned that in September, I'm still not used to it.

DW - My lovely bride, Deanna, and keeper of the journal. I don't take notes during the cruise so tend to forget things as I go along. Luckily she takes great notes so I can remember what it was that we did. If I get something wrong, certainly blame me, not her. :)

DS12 - My oldest son, Nick, along for his 4th cruise.

DS8 - My youngest son, Connor, also his 4th cruise.

Our neighbors were also along for the ride and will be talked about as well: DNH -the husband, DNW - the wife, DNS13 and DND11.

Setting the stage: We booked this cruise about 6 months ago when Disney brought out the kids sail free. while we were not planning on cruising in February we are insane people so had to check the prices. This is what I looked like when I saw the price: :thumbsup2 however my wallet still did this: :sad2: . But how can you say no when the prices are so low? Luckily out here in the great white north we get a February break (ski week to some, escape to something above 30 degrees to us, especially DW. She isn't a big fan of the fluffy white stuff. In fact, her favorite season is warm. I know warm isn't a season...but trust me on this one, but I digress). So the timing was good...and we booked it. We decided that we would hold the information back from the kids and have it be a surprise. If you have read my previous trip reports you will see that we had done this once before, and it was really fun to see their reactions. We booked plane tickets and waited. And Waited...and waited.

Well, ok, DW didn't wait as she had to get on the boards and start planning. She quickly found our cruise meet thread...and then found the Fish Extender group (by the way, if you see FE as you are reading the boards...that is Fish Extender. No, this is not additional flippers or fins that are added to existing fish as one might think. If you haven't cruised, there are fish that are above the stateroom numbers which stick out. DCL (oh, Disney Cruise Lines...sorry, I'll try not to use too many initials...as half the time I read the boards and have no idea what the heck people are saying. Have to go to DW to translate) uses these to drop off notes, etc. So the fish extenders are either bags or something that you can drop gifts into. There will be a picture of ours later so hopefully you will understand what I mean.).

Whew...oh, by the way, I DO have a tendency to get off track from time to time. While the quickest way from point A to point B might be a straight line...I'm more like that kid from the Family Circus. So I apologize now for that issue.

Anyhooooo, so DW had to set about making FE gifts for the various cabins. Now, DW is not the type of person to just go out and buy something simple and call it a day. Noooooo, she is much more creative than that...and frequently ends up outdoing herself. I don't think I took a picture of the FE gifts (my bad as I'm the photog of the family), but as I recall there was a maraca pen that she hand printed our cruise and Disney Wonder on, a luggage handle which she hand sewed, a key chain thingy with letters that spelled Disney words...among other things. Yes...she is a Wonder (no pun intended...well, ok it was since I had to back up and capitalize it) ladies and gentlemen...that's why I married her.

Keep in mind that our kids don't know that we are taking this cruise. Luckily we are sailing on the Dream in July...so she used this as the reason why she was working on this stuff, but it still was a bit of a pain to try to hide.

At some point in the months leading up to February it dawned on me that we should tell the kids *something* so that they would actually be less suspicious. Since we had tricked them before I didn't know if we would pull it off again...and if we showed up at the airport and we wouldn't tell them where we were going they would put two and two together (well, DS12 probably would. DW8 tends to live in his own little world...Connor World we call it. It's actually a place I think we would all like to live if given the opportunity, but unfortunately it hasn't worked out for me as of yet). DW's parents live in Palm Springs, her sister lives in Glendale and some friends live in Acadia...so we had excuses to go out there and we told them about a week before we were headed out. Yes, we lied to them. How do you tell your kids not to lie...and then turn around and lie to them about stuff like this. Quite the parents dilemma. Well, ok I didn't really have an issue with it to be honest (<----------see, honesty is the best policy). But it is something you should think about. I'm moving on.

DW had arranged a car to take us to the airport, we had booked our rental car...had lodgings (staying with our friends at Acadia), our plan of attack was in place.

That was....until...we woke up...Friday morning...February 25th...the day we were to fly out...to...:scared1: SNOW :scared1: duh-duh-duh (that's creep music in case you don't have a sound card turned on). What was supposed to be 2-3 inches was a white blowing mess outside. Our kids were supposed to go to school for a couple of hours and then we were going to pick them up...but school was delayed by two hours. No biggie on that one.

DW started taking a look at the flights out of our local airport. We were supposed to be flying Continental (our now-not-so-favorite-airline-for-a-couple-of-reasons), Through Newark. Our flight still showed on-time (we were supposed to leave at 12:30, note how I keep saying supposed to (as in supposed to be flying and supposed to leave...this is all foreshadowing. Of course since I have now told you it's foreshadowing I have removed all foreshadowing from the equation, basically making this whole thing kind of stupid. so I'm going to stop now :rotfl: ). I was still a bit nervous because the snow was really starting to come down. Then the schools canceled altogether.

so about 8:30 I started calling Continental. This seems like an easy task, right? wrong. 45 minutes later we finally got through. Oh no, we were assured, your flight is just fine. It will be about 10 minutes late because of crew issues but it will be fine. I asked if the crew was already in the air coming to the airport...oh no, it will be fine, your flight will be a little late but your connection won't be problem. We asked about a similar flight at a similar time out of Boston. Oh no, we can't switch you because your flight will be fine, it will be a little late, but your connection won't be a problem. Hmmm...do they have a recording device that just plays back the same answer? :confused3 Now, if you have been paying attention and understood the foreshadowing discussion I just had with you (but frankly not sure if foreshadowing is even the right word now that I think about it. But I have put too much time and effort in at this point so I will not be changing it. But I digress...), you know that something...is...about....to...go...terribly...wrong (duh-duh-duh (there it is again, you really should get your speakers checked)).

Our car was scheduled to pick us up at 10:30...and about 10:10 Deanna checks once again and...guess what...our flight has been CANCELLED (duh-duh-duh).

So, you don't know me from adam. and I have no idea who adam is. But from what little you have just read, you have two choices about my feelings at this point:
:cool1:

Or

:furious:

in case you are a little slow...the second one was me. So now we are without a flight. Luckily (oh how we love Continental), they were very accommodating and booked us on another flight...for SUNDAY. :scratchin

I have always considered myself to be pretty smart. so help me here...my cruise leaves sometime around 4pm on Sunday. Continental cancels my flight on FRIDAY...and somehow by flying out Sunday I'm going to make it, right? uh...yeah. NOT.

So now we have an issue (duh-duh-duh...yup, I officially just overused that one. I'll try to stop). DW calls and cancels the car. We ponder our options. Frankly I was ready to rent a car and drive down to Newark to catch the second part of our flight. DW maps it out, and does the math (thank god because at this point I'm so pissed I couldn't have done it even using a calculator) and figures out we can't make it. I leave that option on the table, however, because there are multiple flights at least in the direction of the west coast...and the closer we get Friday the better off we are.

I know! I'll call Continental! Let my fingers do the dialing and... "we're sorry, the call volume is so high that we cannot accept your call, please try again later". AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH. try again...same thing...about the 5th try I managed to get into the queue "the average wait time is 45 minutes". You've got to be kidding me.

OK, so clearly we are NOT going to get out of our local airport...we decide to rent a car and drive down to Boston. At least there are more flights out of there...and even if we don't get to LA we could get to Houston which would be a lot closer. So we hang up...and dial in on our cell phone (yup 45 more minutes) and hop in a friend's car to drive to the local airport and do a one way rental. Just before we get to the airport I finally get through. After thanking them so much for ignoring us this morning when we could have easily rebooked and allowing us to have this extra mega-stress I got down to business. I suggested that perhaps they could nicely transfer us over to United since they are owned by the same company now and do a direct flight. Oh no, sir, we can't do that, but let me see what we can do. Hold again.

Finally she came back and DID get us on the direct flight...at 5pm that night. At this point I was ok with that...and really liked the direct flight because I figure they have to get the plane out there...even if it's late, right? right? ok, this isn't foreshadowing because it actually did get us out there.

So we got to the airport at about 1pm...and got to sit around for 4 hours. The only saving grace there is that my company allows me a Red Carpet club membership so we were able to sit in comfort with snacks. That is not a bad way to go :thumbsup2

We also discovered that you can watch TV on your Droid X. How cool is that? I tell you, the things they can pack into those tiny devices is amazing to me. But I digress (yet again).

I'm sorry this is so long...but I want to get us at least to cruise day...so bear with me!

Our flight was uneventful...we made it to LA, and to the Avis parking lot. We walked into the building to get our car...gave the guy our name. He says "well, we had upgraded you to a Mustang Convertible (woohoo! hot damn! I never get that...that will be so fun1), but " he eyes our luggage "there is no way your luggage will fit in that". oh man. Talk about a buzz kill. So we got a Mercury Marquis. I think that's what it was. A grandma car (no offense to the grandmothers out there). I could have been stylin' in a sporty ride...wearin' my fancy kicks (not sure what language I'm speaking now), but because of my dang kids I have to drive a grandma car. oh well.

Now, to add insult to serious injury, our original intention was to arrive around 6:30pm, hit In-N-Out burger for our In-N-Out fix which we had not had in a while. If you don't know what In-N-Out is...you are a lost soul. However if you do ever go to one....order this: double-double Animal Style. Trust me. But because we arrived so late...no one (including me believe it or not) was hungry...and I never passed one on our way to our friend's house. so no go on In-N-Out. fitting ending to the day. OH, and while driving by Staples arena we managed to time things perfectly so that the Lakers-Clippers game was getting out, so everyone and their Mouse was getting out right when we were driving by.

The next day we drove down to the San Diego area to visit DW's grandmother (in our grandma car...which DS8 commented on about 10 times while we were there). I won't bore you with details of that trip as, well, you wouldn't care about it :). However I will say this...we went to lunch at a restaurant called On the Border (pretty good Mexican food), and we were going to meet DW's sister and her boyfriend for dinner at his house. If you can do that math on that you will see there are no additional meals left for In-N-Out, so like the Taco Bell commercials I did have to add one...so the boys and I all had a single cheeseburger Animal Style (not as good as a double-double Animal Style) to tide us over. needless to say I was a bit full. Fitting for the day before getting on the cruise!

Now, knowing that the cruise doesn't leave until after 4pm...why couldn't we just go to In-N-Out before boarding? Excellent question...which will be answered in Chapter 2: The Port

Until then...let me know if you have any questions or anything. I promise I will have pictures so you won't be too bored with the text of my writing! Thanks for suffering along with me, and hopefully those keyboard marks on your forehead are not permanent.

Glad you were able to make it to California & I can't wait to read more popcorn::.

I'm anxious to hear more! Sorry about the stressful start... BTW when did you finally tell the kids about the cruise? Any possibility to see your Navigators?

I'm anxious to hear more too! If you had back to back Cabo days I'd love to see some Navigators.

You have me ROLLING! Love it! I was on your cruise so I can't wait till the part where you met the awesome chick from Indiana at the meet-up! ;)

me too. of course the stress of getting out there we couldn't share with the kids...I'm surprised DS12 never asked "why are we in such a big hurry, we can just go sunday", but that never happened. Sometimes he is blissfully unaware. :thumbsup2

well, on your first question you will have to wait and see. As of the end of my writing we had not yet told them. They thought we were just going to California to see friends and family. :)

On the second, I *think* DW has the navigators, assuming she does I'll do my best to scan and post them. thanks for the note. :)

I'm anxious to hear more too! If you had back to back Cabo days I'd love to see some Navigators.

Thanks for the note! again I'll try. The one thing we were never able to figure out for sure is why we didn't just anchor in the harbor of Cabo and just stay there. Maybe someone reading knows. We had thoughts that maybe they would have charged more...or that the mexican authorities would not allow it because they would have had to patrol the harbor...or maybe it wouldn't be safe because we could be boarded? who knows. Pretty funny...at least the second day we got to moore closer to the port!

lol...thanks! :lmao: the cruise meet was pretty cool. For us...the kids were bored of course! What's up with that? :confused3 Kids...sheesh!

thanks all for your kind words, keep 'em coming, I'll keep writing.

Hi I am from NJ and booked same cruise 2/12, Now I am going to worry about snow for the next year LOL onlyhalf kidden.

Last year we were on the Magic and also ran into a bit of trouble on our first 24 hours Our Disney Magic Adventure 2/13/10 to 2/20/10 Operation Disney lines........

I am really enjoying your report, can't wait for more.

Thanks for sharing :woohoo:

I'm in for the read. You made me laugh and even though your first post has no pictures (kind of a requirement for me to read a TR) your sense of humor hooked me. :thumbsup2

This is DW now...I will make sure DH puts pictures in tomorrow...I don't know what he was thinking!

ACK! see, I KNEW at some point she would try to take over my TR. Keep an eye on her. :sail:

I promise I'll have pictures tomorrow. in fact there are alot. The first day I think I took around 50. While I cannot post all of them (they put a limit on this thing of like 12. I remember on the last TR it took me about 45 minutes to write my TR and 2 hours to figure out how to cut out the pictures and still tell my story. :rolleyes1 ), I'll try to post many.

OH, and I can't wait for you guys to see the princess pictures. Keep in mind that I only have boys. :lmao:

Thanks for the comments everyone, keep 'em comin!

You have me hooked on reading your TR with your sense of humour and creative writing style. I have a son who loves Princess Ariel so I'm anxiously awaiting to hear about your sons' meeting with the Princesses. Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences!

Thank you for your kind words. I really appreciate all of you lying to me about my sense of humor...but fear not! DW keeps me grounded. :rotfl2:

Unfortunately my princess story won't quite fit with your son's...but I think it's great that he likes Princess Ariel. One of the things I love about most Disney characters is that they teach important lessons...like going after dreams.

I went after dreams last night but failed *sigh* still on west coast time :faint:

and on with the next chapter...

I'm enjoying your TR. I would have been soooo stressed out dealing with all the flight cancellations..... Looking forward to more...

Once again, thank you for the kind comments. While most of you were lying about my ability to write, I appreciate it, so keep it up! :thumbsup2

I promise there will be pictures today, quite a few actually so I may have to do this in parts.

One short digression before we make it to embarkation day. One tip that I have for all of you is to bring on your own alcohol. We have done this on every trip we have taken (because we read the tip on the DIS boards of course!). The first time I felt like I was Han Solo smuggling hooch onto the ship. But by now I've realized that they just don't care. We usually buy a cheap rolling cooler (yes rolling...it gets heavy and I'm a wimp), and put the alcohol in that. They do NOT want you to have ice, and they don't want you to check liquids in...you should carry them on. Ahem. Well...that is what your SUPPOSED to do:rolleyes1 more on that later. So after visiting DW's grandmother and having dinner with her sister and BF (ok, ok, AND after having the between meal snack of In-N-Out (Yum...can I just say that? Yum. I'm sitting here at 9am craving In-N-Out. Time to go back on the diet)), I dragged one of our friends on some last minute shopping. We needed a laundry bag and we needed some of those scent thingys (I believe that is the technical term...scent thingys, there is probably some lay-person word for it but I don't know what it is. You know, those things where you pull the outside up and it exposes some kind of nuclear scary jelly that smells really good. Come ON, surely you know what tha...oh, you get it? OK, moving on).

*****TIP******
huh. I like that. Seems like I have something important to tell you. Oh, I do. Bring scent thingys. it sucks to not have them as your bathroom WILL smell like a sewer from time to time. Having Scent thingys will help make it smell better most of the time, though you will still get a whiff. Whew.

***********TIP***********
and tip #2 related to stinkiness...make sure you run your shower and any faucets every day. We were told by our room steward that this helps. This was harder for us on this trip because...well...you will have to wait and see :)

But I digress. Crap, now I'm not sure where I was. Hold on.

Oh yeah. So we hit Target (who doesn't love Target), and after searching far and wide finally found a designer laundry bag. Apparently asking for a cheap mesh laundry bag was too much. sheesh! I picked up two smelly thingys (two bathroom areas, two smelly thingys. can't have too many, trust me on this). Then it was off to the liquor store. Or as I like to call it, Drew's Playground. Well, not really, but...ahem...anyway.

I like to over-purchase. Just ask DW. It's a gift. Some people like to plan to make sure they have just enough. Not me. If one is good...two is better. DW wanted a 6 pack of froo-froo drinks (you know...those malt liquor drinks in all kinds of flavors...and the hard lemonade...ooooh and we discovered hard strawberry lemonade that was a big hit...might want to look for that one). I bought her a case. Yes, I was hoping to get her drunk and...well...:love2: ahem. TMI? ok. Anyway, I bought a case of froo-froo drinks for DW (and DNW), and a case of beer for me. Apparently I thought I was an alcoholic because now looking back...that's a lot of beer to drink every day. But I think back to the second cruise when I brought a 12 pack and had to get another 12 pack in our first port because I blew through a lot of beer that first day. Needless to say our server and assistant server were pleased at the end of this cruise because we gave them our leftovers. but that's jumping ahead. :thumbsup2

Anywhoooooo, so you know that this whole thing was a surprise to the kids. When we got up on Sunday Morning (February 27th...*sigh*...it seems so long ago... ), we told the boys we were going to go stay at a resort by the beach. OH, darn-it, I forgot to tell you something.

Sooo, remember how this cruise was cheap, right? Well DW got it in her head that it would be interesting to try to upgrade at the port. We had a balcony stateroom...so the upgrade would be to a one-bedroom Concierge suite. We knew about how much it might be (more on that later), and DW was checking about every other day that last month and there were 4 suites available. So we knew we wanted to get there early and try to upgrade. Disney added this thing where you check-in online and get a check-in time when you are supposed to be at the port. Not sure if that is a Los Angeles thing or not. Needless to say I don't think it really matters when you show up by the way. And as always I take these things as a suggestion....not a requirement anyway :rolleyes1

We also had a rental car if you recall (grandma car...again no offense if there are any grandma's reading this, I have the utmost respect for grandmas).

Quick apology to the guy who really wanted pictures. Here is one to tide you over:
DSC_0217-1.jpg
This is a picture of the port from our balcony. Not the most beautiful location. Hopefully when Disney makes LA a permanent port they will build their own building away from all the industrial stuff! :thumbsup2 There, picture...done.

So we had to figure out how to do the car thing...and get there early to try to upgrade. Our first thought was that I would drop them at the port, DW would try to get the upgrade while I was returning the car at the Long Beach Airport and catching a super shuttle to the port. But then we heard that all of us had to be there to check-in. Well, we didn't want to hose ourselves...so plan B was to have us all drop the car off and take a taxi to the port. But I am mr. creative...so I came up with Plan C.

I also managed to forget the power cord for my camcorder. I blame DW for this...but as she correctly points out I'm pretty much in charge of the electronic type stuff so my blame did not go far. Story of my life. So I figured I could go to a Radio Shack after we took care of checking in.

As we drove over the bridge toward the port (we came from Long Beach), We (DW and I), saw the Wonder immediately. Luckily Unaware #1 and Unaware #2 in the back seat did not. We got off the exit and then did a U-Turn (yeah, I missed the entrance to Port 93 which is where the Wonder was docked). When I came around I pointed and said "What's the Mickey boat doing out here".

Not sure if you guys are aware, but apparently Disney is doing some contest where you can video tape a surprise vacation, send it in and win some prizes. So we had the video tape going...but needless to say we won't win any prizes. Maybe it's a boy thing. Not sure. There was a lot of "no...really?" going on...but no screeching or anything like that. But they were very excited and VERY surprised which was cool.

We also had surprise #2...they didn't know our neighbors were going with us. We were going to have them meet up with us on the ship. Note the use of the word "were" in that sentence. More on that later. (you guessed it, more foreshadowing!)

I dropped them off at the front and parked my car. Come to find out it only costs $1/hour to park at the port...so I sent them in and parked the car...and scooted in behind them. We arrived about 9:30am and laughed at all the folks getting off the cruise.

I know. That was really, really mean of me, wasn't it? but I did NOT yell "SUCKERS" when I went by them, so I did have a little bit of sympathy! :)

When I got into the building (which was basically empty...but they still let us in that early which was very cool...and very unlike Port Canaveral), DW was up checking in. I was excited to find out if we got an upgrade....but alas the person checking us in couldn't do that, we had to go visit some big-wigs. So we meandered down to the big-wigs after checking in. We kicked the kids over to some chairs so they wouldn't know what we were doing. There was one family in front of us...and naturally we made smart-*** comments like "we hope you didn't take the last upgrade". And the guy had on a shirt that I actually own (it's a tiki pattern with mickey and characters), but didn't bring. While I thought I was being funny, they clearly didn't. But oh well. One of the other Cast members said there were a few so I wasn't too worried.

Once that other family finished it was our turn for a chance at glory. We stepped up and sure enough there was an upgrade available. The cast member (hereafter referred to as CM...another one of those initial thingys that I didn't know what the heck it meant for a long time...I thought it was some sort of disease...but also figured that all of you on the DIS boards wouldn't be talking about diseases very often...so that couldn't be it). Anyway, the CM pointed to a room available in the middle of this ship (8034) and said that was available. Before he finished his sentence DW says "we'll take it". Now, being the savvy shopper I am...I wanted to know what else was available....there was some discussion about suites at the back of the ship which have a huge balcony...but the CM said that this room usually went first and that he was surprised it was available. So bowing to DW's infinite wisdom I agreed. The cost? $1,700. Now, I know that's a lot of money...but considering how inexpensive the cruise was...we decided this would be a cool once-in-a-lifetime (well, hopefully-twice-in-a-lifetime-because-i'd-like-to-do-it-again) opportunity so we jumped at it. Along with the 1 bedroom is concierge service...and don't worry you will get long-winded thoughts on that later. So we were all checked in. Time to head to Radio Shack and find a charger.

I headed out and was standing in Radio Shack when DW calls. It seems that DS12 decided he wanted to share the news about being on the Disney Cruise. He texted his friend. Which friend? If you followed the foreshadowing before you would have guessed DNS13. Our neighbor's son. As soon as DNS13 received the text he called DS12 and said "we are going on the cruise too!". Apparently the concierge at their hotel had spilled the beans to their kids...so they knew...but they did not know we were going to be on it. So surprise #2 was ruined. For those of you who don't believe kids should be beaten...well....ahem. Anyway, lesson learned, if trying to do a second surprise, take away the cell phone! :thumbsup2

Holy crud this thing is getting long. go get some coffee so you don't fall asleep. I'll wait. Really. go. :surfweb:

better? Good.

So I located my charger, headed to the long beach airport...grabbed a cab back...it was about $50 or so for those of you who were wondering. Got a real fun surprise when I swiped my credit card and had it declined (we have a Marriott Rewards credit card...and while we have a pretty large limit on it...they love to randomly decline things that we do...even when they know we are on vacation. more on that later sadly). So I had to use another one. very annoying.

I dashed up the stairs, my silver castaway club member lanyard flapping in my face and we went through security. Now...because we had upgraded we got two benefits. Benefit #1:

DSC_0179.jpg
our boarding card

Boarding group #1! and this time we did it legitimately (see previous trip reports where DW somehow conned the CM out of a Boarding 1 card. Not sure how that happened but she can be very convincing at times).

We took a PICTURE (yes, believe it or not...get ready, though...there will be quite a few pics coming up):

fam.jpg
Our fam....

the other was that the concierge guests had their own private room:

DSC_0182.jpg
the kids in front of the Concierge room

OK, so at this point I'm feeling like an imposter. I travel frequently and the feeling was the same as the first time I was upgraded to first class. I was waiting for them to come and haul me back to steerage. And then a guy sits next to me and complains about all the people who get free upgrades. LOL.

Anyway, the room wasn't anything special other than a room. They had a couple of pastries, orange juice and coffee. But really nothing that great. Which, considering I just forked over $1,700 I was expecting :) well actually I didn't even expect the room...so there you go.

Sometime around noon they announced the family of the day and then we were herded up to get on the ship...and because of a delay of another group we were actually the second family to board...but we couldn't even see them...so it was like we were #1! We're #1, We're #1...We...oh, sorry, I got carried away.

We were introduced and the crowd went wild! Well at least the Crew in the atrium clapped for us. I'm sure they didn't do that for any other guests boarding...wait...why are they announcing another family getting on....aaaarrgghhhh! Clearly I'm not as special as I'd like to believe. :)

Immediately upon boarding we clicked a classic picture:

We headed to Cadillac lounge which is where the concierge people were supposed to go. There we could get Palo reservations (done because DW is so organized), change our dining time (not needed because DW is so organized), sign the kids up for the kids club (not needed because our kids are insane), and maybe sign up for excursions (done because DW is so organized...do you sense a theme here?).

OH, just so you know, DW is the best planner ever. Seriously. Going on a cruise with her is great because she is a great planner...but going to Disney World? fuhgeddaboutit. She is unbelievable. I've been telling her for years she needs to set up deannasdisneydestinations.com but she never does it. Seriously...we know from the minute we walk in the park which ride to go to when so that you avoid the crowds, etc. It's amazing...I'm a lucky man. But you don't care about that...and I digress.

So now the firsts...because we came on the ship so quickly...

First down the Mickey Slide:

First to get Pizza -

*************TIP*************
oh, don't get me started here. One of my favorite things is to have them put the pizza back in the oven to make the crust crispy. They do it without even blinking...For the timing...ask them to put the pizza in, walk over and get a soda, and by the time your back it's perfect. I almost forgot to make that a tip...I'm losing it.

Me and DS8 chowing down. Why not?? I don't think I stopped eating until we got off. Wait, that's not true...it lasted a bit longer. can you say In-N-Out! Woohoo Baby!

First to play Foosball:

DS12 and I playing the first of several hundred foosball games. I rock by the way.

First to play ping pong:

DW playing some pong. She rocks too. Though not as much as I do.:cool1:

*knock* *knock* are you still awake? dang I'm long winded. I'm not even through day 1.

Coming up: Chapter 3: Our room and the rest of Day 1!!

DW here again...not to be nit picky or anything, but our upgrade was $1680, not $1700...that's a few drink of the days for those who are pinching their pennies. DH always rounds weird ways...he'll say something is $9.00 when it is $9.99...now to me that is $10, but I'll let that pass. In case you haven't figured it out yet, we can be very sarcastic...at least we do it in a loving way:lovestruc

One other thing about getting through security in LA...you take your embarkation picture BEFORE security. The boys and I had to wait outside of security for DH to get back from returning the car just so we could get our picture taken together. It sure would have been nice to be waiting in the concierge lounge instead of yelling at the 2 boys to stop hitting/chasing/bothering each other...sorry to anyone who witnessed that!
