:lovestruc I *love* mexican food so I'm looking for a place to eat during our Dec 09 trip that is mexican. Could you all give me your best recommendations for the best mexican food at Disney? :thumbsup2

The question is...do you want "authentic" mexican food or "americanized" mexican food?

Authentic would be San Angel Inn which is going through a refurb starting in May.
otherwise...the QS for Mexico is pretty good. (the name escapes me at the moment.)

Good question...I'd like to "authentic". I can get the "americanized" stuff at home. :goodvibes

We like the San Angel. The dishes are representative of the food you actually get in Mexico. There are a lot of fish dishes, duck and lamb. It's typical interior of mexico style food. Many people don't like it, though. They are used to Tex-mex or new mexico style mexican food. So, the San Angel foo is very unfamiliar to them. If you want to try something out of the ordinary, give it a shot.

I also am in the minority - we LOVE San Angel Inn. Very authentic Mexican food!

San Angel is one we never miss. Besides the unique and very good food, the atmosphere is really nice.....a bit dark, but very relaxing.

It always feels like walking into an oasis. You are out in the hot Florida sun and you go into this dark, festive mexican village.

My daughter and I have always loved San Angel Inn. Anything you will get in the world showcase at EPCOT is a bit americanized, or the Americans complain. But the food has always been quite good and they try and stick as close to reality as possible.

We used to love the food at San Angel but last June we were very disappointed. My daughter is Guatemalan and we travel frequently to Mexico and Guatemala and love that type of cuisine. Our last visit to San Angel was very Tex Mex and tasteless! I am not disappointed that it will be closed this June for our next trip. We do like the counter service though in Epcot's Mexico...still not the real thing but quite tasty.

We had lunch at SAI in Epcot back in Oct and DH loved it! We plan on going back in 2 weeks.

The CS place in Epcot is gross, I would never go there again!

DH also loves the Pirate and the Parrot in MK but that place is hardly ever open

When is the refurb happening?

We went in Dec for our CLP and we horrible service. We had the server argue with us about getting our our appetizers which we did not since there was not even the dirty plates on the table. Once we got our appetizers, our entrees were coming out with them, which they took back and put under a heat lamp. Food was dry and nasty. They did give us a free lunch on another day and the food then was only okay at best then. We will not be back but I do like CS for Mexico.
