Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

I know that most of you won't know who I am, but Kat and Sheryl are like family to me, and I know that you are all part of theirs.....that being said (in a confused way ;) ) I have all of you in my thoughts, heart, and prayers......I wish there was more I could do............Please stay safe!

Thank you Wendy...we may all need those prayers!

dh brought me Wendy's..which I inhaled. hopefully the shaking will stop soon...:scared1:

they officially closed Jefferson Parish schools on TUesday....

Ok, I'm freaking out here. Can anybody help? I found a checlist a couple of days ago that tells you what important papers to bring but now I can't find it! I have no idea where I saw it. I'm not thinking correctly with this storm and I sure would love to have a guideline so I don't forget anything. Does anybody have a list like that? Thanks in advance.

BTW, we plan on leaving tomorrow morning. My husband (and me too) has nightmares about our evactuation for Katrina and hopes that we might miss the absolute worst of the traffic if we leave a little early. Of course, everyone else is probably thinking the same thing and will be right there on the road with us. :scared1: Anyway, we are headed to Hattiesburg. I hope we get there, watch the storm turn away from Southeast LA on the TV, get a good night sleep and head back home again Monday or so. Here's hoping!

Thanks Wendie! You a such a good person!

We have decided to go to Nashville. I'm happy that my DD has decided to come with us. My Mom & brother's family have decided to go there too. Bob's brother is the only one holding out on making a decision, but Bob has rooms for them too.

Kathy, Is that guy a weatherman? I saw those computer models on Wunderground, but haven't seen a change in the projected path yet.

I don't know but he sounds like he knows what he's talking about. The new projections will come out at 4:00(I think).

Are y'all going to empty your fridge's & freezers before taking off? I cooked some of the fish & shrimp I had in there last night. I'm cooking lamb chops & steak tonight, but there is still a bunch of stuff in there. I'm thinking I'm going to throw it all out, even though it will make me sick to do it. But to come back home to all that rotten food & the smell would make me even sicker!

Jan, I'm sorry I don't have a list like that. For Katrina I stuck everything in Bob's briefcase. I have not gone back to filing things in the file cabinet. If it's really an important paper, I just stick it in the briefcase.

I would dress up like a fish and do the hula-hoop outside if it would keep this storm away. I'd be willing to try anything at this point! :rotfl:

:lmao: I'm right there with you on that one.

Wendie thanks for the post. I think we could use prayers from anyone who could spare a couple. Thanks again.

Here in St. Tammany too. Kelsie just walked in and said they were off on Tuesday and to keep watching or listening to see if that changes and they make it for Wednesday or later.

Here's a little tip for anyone leaving. Put any items in your freezer in a garbage bag. I do one for each shelf in my deep freeze. That way if the power goes out and you lose everything you won't have to fool with touching all that bloody smelly stuff. Just take out the garbage bag and throw away.

Great idea, thanks!

Anyone hear anything about the Catholic schools yet. I can't keep the tv on, it makes me too upset.

If I didn't have to go get my kids from the bus in a few minutes I'd be joining you.

Kathy, Don't start this early or you feel like I did this morning! Pounding headache caused from my coping mechanism.... wine!!!;)

That is an excellent tip, thanks! I've been cooking and clearing my stuff out too, but for the bit that is left, this is a great idea!
