Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Well I think they want to evac New Orleans because if it stays on its present course the WB is going to get a LOT of rain and water. So I guess a New Orleans evac is to show how serious it could be???

I made an appt to see my doctor(well, not my Dr, but whoever was available) to get something for the anxiety. I hate taking medicine but I am shaking right now, and I know the closer I get to this weekend the worse this is going to make me. I need to be sane for my boys.

My MILs left an hour ago. They headed to Texas, my MIL's SO has her kids in San Antonio and Killeen, and a sister in Dallas. They wanted to head out before everyone else started out that way. Aiden freaked when they left. My boys are very perceptive, and he could feel her saddness/tension/anxiety, so when she left, he just broke down in sobs. It was a different "cry" for him. That's when it hit me, and I called Oschner. I have worked so hard to keep my Depression and Anxiety at bay for the last year and haven't taken anything for that long...but I just feel...IDK.

Mrs. Kreamer, your post made me cry:sad1: I am so sorry for your boys and for all the kids caught up in this. I am 42 years old and it is hard for me to deal with this. I can't imagine what goes on in the mind of a child. God bless them.

Oh please don't cry!

I live on the Northshore, in Slidell. We got about 10 inches of water with K. Certainly not as much as others so we were lucky in that regard but just enough to have to replace carpet, furniture and walls.

Allyson

My sister lives in Slidell. We now live in Mandeville but lived in Arabi for Katrina. I hope your area fares well this time around.

Stephanie I know it's so hard right now. I've been teary eyed for days. Good luck at the Doctor. You are so lucky that you were able to get in so fast. We are all going to get through this. :grouphug:

I'm weird, I can't eat when I'm nervous.:confused3

Most nervous situations make me want to eat but not hurricanes. I lost 12 pounds in the 2 weeks after Katrina. I couldn't finish my dinner last night. I just couldn't get it down. And I haven't eaten anything yet today. I feel sick and shaky.

Morning y'all,

We now have rooms booked in Kissimee & Nashville. Josh's Mom offered her home to everyone & their Grandmaw! Crowded living conditions with a bunch of worried sick depressed Westbankers is not sounding very good. But the drive to Alexandria would be so much easier. Don't know what we are going to do at this point. Feeling pretty disgusted right now.

Stephanie, I'm glad you were able to get into the dr. Hugs for you & the boys!

I was a lot better off with Alexis here after school yesterday. Pretty much lost it after she went home.

We may be heading east now, oh who the hell knows:sad2: . This is driving us all bananas. I made my kids get happy and go clean thier rooms or do 5 math lessons-guess what they picked???:lmao:

I went to work and they only wanted 2 people there(I was 3rd) and since I am not feeling well, I came home. So DH went to his office for a couple hours before coming home to work on that generator(we haven't started it in months). I stopped at Walmart for toilet paper and oreos(had to have a munchie and something for the kids, right??) and was pleasantly suprised at lack of crowds and very well stocked shelves.

On my way home DH called and was very testy, but so was I. When I got home we all just sat there , said a little prayer and chilled.

I am a stress eater and a despair non eater. Stress is the most common response in me. Despair is rare.

I'm surprised that they are calling for mandatory evacuations of Lafourche already.

That makes this just too real. I've got to get myself together & start packing. I just feel numb.

My brother, a policeman was just alerted that contraflow was starting tonight at 10pm.
phase 1-10pm-NO-BR
phase 2-8am-NO-Lafayette
Phase 3-8pm?????

He has another meeting in 45 minutes.

I'm confused about the contraflow- is there any way to go east??

Lorie I know for Katrina we had to take Highways until we got past where the contraflow was.

Ugh. Why would they send everyone west where the storm is headed? I guess I'll have to get out a map and figure out how to get east. Not looking forward to this AT ALL. :sad2:

Sheryl, if y'all head to Kissimmee, which way would you take to get there?

I'm so sad to think of my brother who just got married and bought his 1st house..... :sad1:

I'm confused too....we were planning on taking I-10 East to I-59N....can we do this on Sunday?

Kathy I know Lori got a little inside information from her Brother but I don't think they accounced it yet on TV. :confused3
