oh and her husband dresses up like one of the bad star wars people and he marched in the parade at Disney this summer - pics are on their myspace page.how cool is THAT?

ok - REALLY going to bed now. can't .... keep .... eyes ..... open

Lori - Where do you live? I live in Terrytown and will get gas in the morning. I wondered/asked you what type of supplies you put in your emergency kit but you must have missed it. What do you normally get? I am running out of ideas....:confused3

I live in Covington, just north of I-12.
As far as what is in my box, I didn't go overboard like for Katrina. I made it simple: batteries, water, canned food we will eat(we don't do too much canned food round my house!),hand can opener, some box meals that only require hot water(hot pot), bottled water, powdered drink mixes(mmmm, we love Tang, but rarely get it), powdered milk(yuck, but good to add for extra protien and in a tight spot). Flashlights, paper plates, cups and forks/spoons/knives, and I am not sure what else. I have an overnight case with all the necessary meds, but will recheck in case I used any. Ohh, I packed baggies too. Bread and PB.
It was heavy and with exception of the bread, it is still in my car!

I am in the middle of re-doing Haley's room, it is a mess. I have been having most of the stuff for it, but bought paint last week. Turning it in to semi big girl room:guilty: . Mostly it has been just weeding out more baby, little kid stuff and moving up in the world-it is so sad....

My baby's getting big!

Good morning ladies.

So how is everyone holding up? I think we just may have gotten a little good news over the night on Gustav. It looks like he is going a little to our west now. We just need him to continue going farther and farther west so all of our area will be safe. Not wishing this on anyone but would sure feel better the farther it moves from New Orleans.

Good Morning y'all!

Things look a little better in the forecast for us, but of course I'll be glued to the TV all day.

Wish me luck as the city building inspector is coming this morning to do a final inspection on our house to make sure all Katrina work was done. I recieved a nasty gram from the Road Home program saying they wanted me to do this. I guess they are trying to cut down on the swindlers? Ugh, it should be fine, but you know the city.....

My hurricane list is pretty much the same as Lori's, except we add charcoal to grill the meat in the freezer in case of power outage, oil and wicks for our old school hurricane lamps (we have four and they have proved invaluable during power outages), asceptic tanks of soy and regular milk that doesn't require refridgeration (can't do powdered milk :scared: ) and of course, some alcohol to ease the pain. ;)

Yes, things are looking a little better. I think they will have another update at 10am. I will also be glued to the TV.

I haven't done a thing to get ready for this! I'm really just freakin out about it!

My soniL Josh's Mom just recently moved to Alexandria. She has offered to share her home with us & Alexis's family. Really surprising the house she bought just happens to have a handicap roll-in shower!

Bob is also going to book some rooms outside of Disney for later in the week.

Ohh Lorie, i forgot about those horizon milks they sell that are not refrigerated. Boy, my kids would be MUCH happier with that.It is what we drink normally. I use the powderd stuff to add protein to meals sometimes. Rarely, if ever, for drinking milk. Ughh.

The main reason we leave is b/c we have a well and treatment system. No electricity means no water and no potty for us, besides the regular stuff. DH says, "3 girls; no potty, no water, no way!"

Dh called me this morning and said we'd probably go west due to #8 (hannah)and avoiding it. Not sure how close that one is and maybe we'd be out before then. I really wanted a reason to use my AP again. we'll se.

you know, I haven 't done anything either. I just realized at 10:15p last night that we dont' have any plywood for the windows. asked DH to get it today but he is hemming and hawing. has to "have help to cut it". wah wah. sorry - just annoyed and going

that is great about the roll in shower! hope you don't need to go but if you do that is awesome!

Lori
where can you buy those milks?

Hey gang - don't forget to back up your home computer systems! (As she sets up her office back up system..... ..... ..... ) Especially if you're like me, & all your photos are on the hard drive patiently waiting for development!

OK, so I had a really strange thought (in a black humor sort of way) while attempting to make my normal weekly grocery order yesterday. (And I'll ask for forgiveness in advance.) What do you think happens to all those cans of tuna, potted meat, vienna sausage, etc, etc.? I mean, do they REALLY get consumed? Or do they just end up @ the food bank come December when hurricane season is done? I kind of smiled to myself when I noticed the tuna shelf was wiped clean, thinking the vendors must love this time of year. No worries about rotating stock!;)

Here's hoping the food banks get huge donations of soup, chili, tuna, & vienna sausage come December! I hope not a can one needs to be opened!

How's everybody hanging in? I doubt I'll have fingernails left come Saturday. I'm hoping the next update shows even further westward movement.

Lori - Hope the RH inspection goes smoothly!

shovan - What a wonderful offer from SIL's family! And a H/C bathroom to boot!

I'm really losing it. I just yelled at my DH on the phone! He wanted to discuss what we were going to do again! I thought we finally made a decision last night! I can't handle him not being decisive, it's not like him!
