Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

After his first day of college Kyle can't stop talking about how gorgeous the girls are. Remember this is a young man who hasn't gone to school with girls since 7th grade....:rolleyes1 They obviously put the baseball boys in all morning classes together and they "girl watched" in-between classes.:rotfl:

That's too funny Kathy. I remember my first class at LSU and a boy sat next to me. It was really weird because I too went to an all girl school. I guess you get use to it pretty fast.

Good morning ladies.

Hey y'all!

It certainly is quiet around here!

I spent my morning harvesting and cleaning basil because I'm going to make a whole mess of pesto this afternoon to freeze in batches for the winter. :thumbsup2 We're pesto fiends around here.

I'm like a deer in the headlights right now- our trip is in a little over two weeks, and I haven't started getting anything ready yet! I'm not even sure where to begin- it's like I've gone Disney-stupid. :confused3 This is kind of like the calm before the storm...

Sheryl- I hope the new treatment gives you some relief.

Kathy- Too funny about Kyle! After going to an all girls high school myself, I can relate to his first day of college (except I was looking at the boys). :rolleyes1

Stephanie- I don't think you can start making ADRs until late October from what I've read because of the ADR system upgrade. That should give you some more time to decide and for Feb hours to come out.

Tricia(arminnie) sorry I missed your birthday yesterday.

Kathy - I had the opposite experience from Kyle. I'd always gone to coed schools before Newcomb. Also my high school was about 3-4 times bigger than Newcomb.

I remember my first assembly in the auditorium and being dismayed about being surrounded by all girls. I was there so long ago that it really was very separate. Totally girls' classes and even different faculty - that all changed in 1987.

I really did not want to go to Newcomb/Tulane - but that's where I got a scholarship so that's where I went. I am so glad now that I did go there. Actually I was glad after the first football game when 7 guys asked me out. The ratio of boys at Tulane to the girls was huge so it was always easy to get a date - all of my worries were for nothing.

Sheryl - hope you are finding some relief from the pain.

Lori - have fun on your trip and I hope Snickers (love that name) does well.

Stephanie - part of the fun is the planning isn't it?

Some friends had me over for dinner last night - we had doberge and I got a piece to go too. I'm eating it for lunch right now.

Hey y'all,

Happy Belated Birthday Tricia!

I had just typed a long vent about Alexis's teachers, me getting soaked today & then getting a way too short haircut. And my scary story of leaving DD at LSU in a Co-ed dorm! The comp battery died & the post was lost, thus saving y'all from reading my pathetic long whining!

Kathy, Kyle's a happy boy, uh?! ;)

Happy belated B-day Tricia!

Yes I just found out that I CANNOT make my ADRs until October....UGH! I am so afraid that what I want will be booked....ug

OHHHH he is soooooo sweet! I wish I could talk Dh into getting us a dog....he is semi-allergic and can't stand that "dog" smell....I don't notice it at all...anyway

THANKS!

hey - what's the ADR upgrade? and I thought I read somewhere they were taking steaks off the menu for the DDP? DH is going to be wrecked because I picked places just because of the steaks for him. is there a spot we can go to look for this?

Tricia and Stephanie - happy birthdays!

Today Disney issued a statement which outlines the changes coming to Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs.) As noted by Len Testa's website TouringPlans.com, the reduction in the ADR window is only temporary while Disney completes a computer conversion. Once the upgrade is complete, the ADR booking window will return to 180 days and new enhancements will allow guests to book their ADRs on-line.

The Walt Disney World® Resort will release a new reservation booking system for dining, recreation and tour reservations in late October 2008. The new reservation system will replace our current Dining Reservation System and will allow you to book multiple dining reservations for your Clients in one experience, while associating reservations to your Clients’ Walt Disney World Resort room reservations. In the future, Travel Agents and Guests will be able to make dining reservations online at disneytravelagents.com and disneyworld.com with this new reservation booking system. The launch date for this enhancement will be announced at a later date.

As a result of the system upgrade, effective July 29 through late October 2008, Guests will be able to book dining reservations up to Jan. 25, 2009 arrivals. In late October, booking processes will return to normal, allowing Guests to book up to 180 days of arrival.

The system upgrade will not impact Victoria and Albert’s Restaurant, Cinderella’s Royal Table, and Chef Mickey’s Restaurant. Those three venues will continue to observe the normal booking processes throughout the system cutover.

will be nice to be able to do online. bet we crash the system though!!:rotfl:

Because of this I am only getting the basic dinning plan. I am really concerned about going during peak season and not being able to book 180 out. This puts me around 115 out, and that is IF they open on schedule.

Mary - If you're around, how's your Mom doing?

Erika - Ava must be keeping you very busy!!

Good morning ladies.

OK, so I'm not getting nervous yet about that darn storm but I'm so not ready to go through anything getting close to us yet. :guilty:

Happy Birthday (a little late) Tricia and today's the day for you Stephanie.

Happy Hump day ladies!

Happy Birthday Stephanie....

I am trying to ignore the storm...YIKES

Morning Y'all,

I haven't been able to catch the local weather reports. What are our guys saying about Faye? Do I need to pull my head out of the sand yet?

Even though I thought the teachers were going to be awful, Alexis came out of school exclaiming " Nana I had the funnest day ever!" :confused3

Lorie, I tried to find the threads I had read about exactly which restaurant's had removed the filets, but I'm just finding a bunch of chat without the answers! I do remember that Webmaster Pete confirmed that they were taken off the menu's at Artist Point & Kona. I believe I also read they removed the maple filet from Le Cellier but still had the mushroom one.

Happy Birthday Stephanie and belated birthday Tricia!! :bday:

So I have a funny, but gross, Sienna story...
I was in the backyard with Sienna earlier this morning, and I noticed that she was being quiet over by the shed (which means something bad), so I walked over to see what she was doing. She was poking at a dead mouse on the ground :crazy2: and cheerfully exclaimed to me "Mommy, I touched Mickey Mouse!!!". ::MickeyMo

Needless to say, I was horrified and amused at the same time, and hightailed it inside to thoroughly sanitize her hands. :lmao:

Sheryl- That's great that Alexis liked her school day! And I stopped following the filet threads- like you said, a lot of conversation and blaming everything on free dining and the DDP, but no real answers. I will miss the filet at Kona though- I know DH was planning on eating that there. Oh well, plenty of other things to eat!
