Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Chick and Deb, that is too funny! I have a funny Chip and Dale story.

My first trip to WDW was at age 12, right after I found out I was accepted to Chapelle(mascot Chipmunks). Well in Toontown, I was overcome with excitment upon seeing these 5ft tall Chipmunks. So here I am a charging, 5'5, 180lb 12 y/o, running at these poor chipmunks. Needless to say I scared the acorns out of them and they started to run away!

Lorie, like you I am trying to brainwa...I mean acclimate, yeah acclimate :rolleyes1 the kids to the Disney characters, and stuff. So He has been watching Disney movies like Lilo & Stitch, Finding Nemo and "Little Chicken" :happytv: No matter how many times I tell Kurt jr that it is called Chicken Little, his proper English gets the better of him!:rotfl:

Another thing he did the other day:

We were driving to Walmart on Barataria & Lapalco, when all of a sudden a very excited Kurt jr starts screaming "It's Disney, we're at DISNEY!!!" He was pointing at the Jefferson Parish water tower! :lmao: I had to let him know that no, that was not Disney, but Mommy wishes it were!:wizard:

we have a funny Chip & Dale story....Dale signed dd's autograph book, then Chip had to go and write that he was the "better brother". they started "fighting" over dd (I think it was her 1st time and her 6th birthday!) and she just LOVED it....then, later that we were at the Italian Alfredo's - the waiter was obviously hung over (still drunk from the night before) but he was a delight! he was incredibly attentive to our daughter (it was her birthday) and he and dh hit it off because DH was actually born in Italy. He took a while to take our order and got in trouble (actually I think they sent him home!) but we didn't care - we were having a good time. anyway, dd started telling the waiter about Chip & Dale's antics and he said that he was roommates with "Chip". so dd was so excited...then we saw C&D later and I was laughing with him about his roommate....that was the funniest meal we had, even though the guy kind of got in trouble and we ended up being served by the manager!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATHY!!!

a lady who was friends with my parents before I was born (we call her Aunt) is having surgery tomorrow for breast cancer. her husband died in 2003 or so....she has been through diabetes and numerous other issues - she has to be in her 70's. her house is in Meraux and was flooded above the roof.....but she is back in it. just seems so unfair after the numerous trials she has been through. here's praying she can survive this surgery!

I'm sorry I missed your special day. Better late than never right?

Did you cook a special meal, go out for a fabulous dinner?

Kristina I hope everythings goes well with your Aunt's surgery. I just said a little prayer for her.

But, on a good note. Rick's voicemail was played on the podcast last week so he got to pick a number. Well, we found out today that # 17 (our anniv 3/17) was a 7 day park hopper! :woohoo:  :woohoo: So I think we're gonna use it toward some nonexpiring tix and not renew our annual passes when they expire.

How exciting!!:thumbsup2

Thanks Tricia. We planned on going out for dinner but had to postpone it. Kyle got called up to play with the Knights older team so he & Johnny headed out for the game and I had a quiet evening alone, which was nice.:goodvibes

Well, tell us all about the wedding!!!!:goodvibes

And everything else you did!!!:goodvibes

Morning NOLA!

All the wedding activities went smoothly and everybody had a great time. I got to see friends and family that I have not seen in probably 20 years! We spent one afternoon in the Quarter being tourists. We also had time to squeeze in a couple of my old favorites: Bozo's, Drago's and Middendorf's. And, the blackberry snowball from Roosevelt/Airline was fantastic! :woohoo:

Morning all - its a very busy day @ work today!

Kristina - prayers coming your way!

Have any of you stayed on the beach in Gulf Shores? If so, I need recommendations on a nice place to stay!

My mom and I go to the Holiday Inn Express on the beach- Orange beach. Has a pool, hot tub and continental breakfast. Used to be pretty affordable, but since Ivan, I am not so sure for summer. We always go after Labor Day when prices go down. Not fancy, but clean and ON the beach, not across the street.

Yes you. A least I thought it was you.:confused3 Oh who knows now. If it isn't too much trouble for you to look. That way if it's not her I can mark her off and try to figure out who it was.

I'm so confused....:sad2:

Okay Lori, umm I did not save the email and the design is in my laptop, but I need to load it to photbucket to show you her design. I am going to show you Ashton's painting, and it was this plus the designer putting "celebrating life, each and every day" all around it with "disney 2008" on it too.

I am sorry I will try to find her name on the design. I wind up not using it b/c no one would print it and I tried to use printer iron ons and they were awful(stiff and uncomfy) or after wash were so faded.
I did have pins made out of the above painting though for our group.

Hey y'all,

Achy back today. Alexis & I had a movie day, rented The Water Horse, turned off the light, had popcorn & m&m's. The movie was really good.

Sounds like a wonderful trip! Glad you had fun! I've been craving Middendorf's lately, someone mentioned it last week & I can't get it out of my mind!

ALRIGHT!!! :cool1: That sounds good!

That's great!:thumbsup2

Kathy, it was an orange with the middle scooped out and filled with organge sorbet.

kmores, that's wonderful. What an honor to sing the National Anthem:thumbsup2

Sheryl, I hope your back feels better. I thought "The Waterhorse" was a really cute movie.

OH MY GOODNESS I MISS DISNEY!!!

have been watching Samantha Brown's Disney favorites.....I need an unending source of income so that I can just go every six...three months....oh heck why don't I just live there! the only thing stopping me is the lack of money in the old checking account.....sigh. at least I can live vicariously! also watched the Disney Cruise Line one.....woo hoo there goes Tinkerbell down the line at Magic Kingdom!

Any chance you can have it videotaped so we can hear you?:goodvibes

hmmm..that would be cool but not this time - don't have anyone to do it this time :( I think one time DH actually called someone so they could listen while I sang! it's such an honor....I have been doing it for about 5 seasons now. DH usually goes with me but he has to work and I have choir at 7:30p...and dd hates going.... so I told him don't worry about it this time and gave my extra tix to the boss - at least someone can enjoy them! (get 4 free tix to go sing - nice perk! plus "my name in lights" is awesome!)....I don't do heat real well - we usually run up by the breezeway and hang there where the air is cooler. didn't want to go alone so gonna do a "sing and run"! kind of neat to sit behind the home plate (is that the term?) not a big baseball afficionado ....(sorry those of you who are) although the games are fun at Zephyr's stadium. maybe next time I can take some of you gals!!!
