Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

OH MY GOODNESS I MISS DISNEY!!!

have been watching Samantha Brown's Disney favorites.....I need an unending source of income so that I can just go every six...three months....oh heck why don't I just live there! the only thing stopping me is the lack of money in the old checking account.....sigh. at least I can live vicariously! also watched the Disney Cruise Line one.....woo hoo there goes Tinkerbell down the line at Magic Kingdom!

This is funny....
I was reading your post and looked at the time posted and what time it is now(9:15) and told DH, who is watching the news, that Travel channel has Disney on it, and he looks at me and says, "hey I DVR'ed it for you" while you napped. (I fell asleep for about 30 minutes b/t 8-8:30). He was flippin channels and saw the DCL one and the one after and DVR'd both. I think I'll keep him a bit longer...

On another note- I agree with you- I just went in Feb and it feels like forever-ago:sad1: I wanna go back too and wish inflation would calm its ugly butt down and my home and cars would just CHILL out and stop screamin, "REPAIR ME"!!!

B/c I wanna go back to Disney World!!!

Lori

hmmm..that would be cool but not this time - don't have anyone to do it this time :( I think one time DH actually called someone so they could listen while I sang! it's such an honor....I have been doing it for about 5 seasons now. DH usually goes with me but he has to work and I have choir at 7:30p...and dd hates going.... so I told him don't worry about it this time and gave my extra tix to the boss - at least someone can enjoy them! (get 4 free tix to go sing - nice perk! plus "my name in lights" is awesome!)....I don't do heat real well - we usually run up by the breezeway and hang there where the air is cooler. didn't want to go alone so gonna do a "sing and run"! kind of neat to sit behind the home plate (is that the term?) not a big baseball afficionado ....(sorry those of you who are) although the games are fun at Zephyr's stadium. maybe next time I can take some of you gals!!!

Take Kathy - she can teach you all you need to know about baseball :thumbsup2

Well you can always watch the four hours- yes, four hours!- of video that DH found from our 2003 trip! I told y'all about the tapes we found the other day- well, after looking at it all, it is four tapes total at one hour each. :faint: Of course I loved every minute of it! :teeth: I swear DH got footage inside every ride, every show, fireworks at MK, Illuminations, even footage of me driving into CBR and checking in- it's hysterical! DH is working on condensing the footage down some so it will be easier to watch...:rotfl:

And Lori, that was so sweet of your DH to DVR that for you! :lovestruc And my house and car are screaming "REPAIR ME!" too! In fact I have to bring my car to the shop AGAIN on Tuesday. :headache: My trip now is becoming a quest before all of our funds get sucked away!

Lorie- I actually would LOVE to watch your videos with you!!! It is those little moments that make them soo good.

On the "Repair Me" note- the car we just put out $2500 on transmission(a camry) repair, yeah, well, it STOPPED today mid drive about 2 blocks away from our home. DH was a BIT perturbed. THANK GOODNESS we have AAA, who towed it for free to the place who "fixed" the transmission. They are now "fixing it" again- needs new bearings???. WHY did it not get them when we spent so much money before. Anyway- thankfully it is under warranty and is covered, but we are without a car, again, for a week or so. Thankfully, I am not working for another week and all will work out fine with 1 car. On a rotten note, I am not working for another week and so finances are tight. BUT since my surgery, I feel my schedule is good for healing completely. It just worked out that way!!(insert smiley with a balance here)

I feel great , but still feel as though inside isn't there yet. Maybe your insides need the full 6 weeks. I am cleared for *almost* every activity. There is only one left I cannot do!!!

But when I can, I am hoping to tone up and go back to using my gym membership!!!

Sorry about your car woes! At least it is covered under warranty. :thumbsup2 I'm bringing mine in to fix the AC for the second time, and also because the driving belts are squealing terribly again for the second time! (it sounds like a hoopty car driving down the street!) I hope they get it right this time and I really, really hope this is the last time I have to bring this car in the shop for a long while. If not we may have to look into getting another car sooner rather than later (which I'm not ready to do at this time).

Glad to hear you're feeling better. I know it's not the same thing, but it took longer than six weeks for me to feel "normal" inside after my c-section. You'll be back at the gym before you know it!

Sheryl, I hope your back feels better. I thought "The Waterhorse" was a really cute movie.

Thanks! Well I've watched it twice today, so it must be good. Watched it with Alexis today & again with Bob tonight! Actually caught a lot more stuff 2nd go round, didn't have to explain things to Bob! Like where is the real water horse? Are soldiers real? Are those soldiers in this movie real?:confused3 How did the boy get so old? Where is Scotland? ..... If I can enjoy a movie after all that, it must be good!

That's what I thought, looked very refreshing.:)

Sheryl - Feeling any better?

No not really. The numbness in both of my hands & legs was worse today. Along with the bad neckpain & lower backpain. It's just starting to really get to me! :sad1:

Morning NOLA!

All the wedding activities went smoothly and everybody had a great time. I got to see friends and family that I have not seen in probably 20 years! We spent one afternoon in the Quarter being tourists. We also had time to squeeze in a couple of my old favorites: Bozo's, Drago's and Middendorf's. And, the blackberry snowball from Roosevelt/Airline was fantastic! :woohoo:

OMG! I know the owners of that stand! Giovanni's was right next door, and my grandparent's home was behind the snowball owner's house! They have sons my age and I used to go over there all the time. What a small world!!!

Has Sheryl been around today??????

Sheryl - Just wanted to tell you that a friend of mine went to Alligator Pear last night and said they have a delicious home-made Sangria....

I really want to try that place out...Do you know how the food is, and is it a place I can take the boys? They are used to going to different restaurants and eating more than just chicken nuggets, and they are actually pretty well behaved.

So I had my first class tonight! I was so nervous...it's funny, in college I could go on stage in front of (sometimes) over a hundred people and act and do comedy, but in an intimate setting of 12 people I get so nervous!

My stepmother is taking the classes over again and she said I did really well(and she would have said otherwise).

So ladies August is still wide open:rolleyes1 if yall know anyone interested...:rotfl:

I had a great time and knowing that I get paid for it is just the cherry on the sundae.

Girl - I thought I was the only person up this late...I am going to bed now; I have been doing work!

I get nervous as well; it is only natural. Just remember you probably know more than they do so they would not know if you goof up. :)

Happy Friday everyone!

First off, a belated Happy Birthday Kathy! So sorry I missed the big day. I was all set to send off birthday wishes, but my internet service disappeared in the middle of my getting caught up on this thread. Then, I had a crisis @ work to deal with. Today's my 1st chance to get caught up. So are you going to get your birthday dinner this weekend @ Alligator Pear? Or are y'all baseballing all weekend?

Terry - Were you the one looking for Gulf Shores recommendations? I've heard really good things about both the Beach Club & Martinique (both on the Ft. Morgan end of the beach). We've visited Martinique - gorgeous rental homes, private beach, but looks $$$$. Do a search on Gulf Shores Convention & Visitors Bureau under lodging - it should link you to a site that brings up tons of property options. You might also want to try VRBO (vacation rental by owner) - lots of those condos on the beach are listed this way instead of through the big groups like Kaiser, Sugar Sands & Brett Robinson.

Mrs. K - sounds like you're having fun with your new class! Gosh, that's a near perfect trifecta - you're doing something you love, it involves CAKE, and you're getting paid! Wish I were closer, because I'd definitely sign up. We've been watching Ace of Cakes lately, and I have the bug something awful to try my hand at some of the more involved techniques. Unfortunately, the only chance I have to practice is for my boys' birthdays. Other than that, I usually stay away from the baking so I won't feel obligated to eat my work!

I can commiserate with the rest of you on needing the unexpected car repairs. Got to call the shop myself this morning. Just when I think we're getting ahead.....

Have a good weekend everyone! Sheryl, hope you start to feel better.

It takes time, but you'll be back at the gym before you know it. Don't rush it.

:rotfl2: I'll bet you did catch a lot in the second viewing.

I'm so sorry you're suffering like this, prayers and  for you.

I really want to try that place out...Do you know how the food is, and is it a place I can take the boys? They are used to going to different restaurants and eating more than just chicken nuggets, and they are actually pretty well behaved.

We're planning on going this weekend sometime. I've heard nothing but great things about it and I'm sure the boys would do fine, my friend had her three grandkids with her.

Kyle left this morning for Bossier City for a tournament then he's off to Cincinnati next weekend for a week.........:sad1:

I guess I should have said there are TWO things I cannot do!!!;)

Anyway, I hope we can both put the car stuff behind us for a year or 2 till we HAVE to cave and buy a car and when we are more ready financially to do it too!!!:thumbsup2 We are in the same boat- a new car is coming fast and I am not wanting the note!!!

On the c/section thing- this feels different- it feel bruised inside. I remember feeling pain for a few days with the section and then scared to stand up straight for fear of pulling out stitches. But everything in my body worked together to heal at the same time. This feels like my outsides are great, I feel great, and I could easily do too much. My insides are feeling pulled and bruised depending on the way I sit, stand or lay down. It is wierd, but I guess since i feel like normal, i shoud do all my normal stuff, but cannot. The Doc did say this was still major surgery inside and that i will feel great but it will be a while to feel back to complete normal.

Bringing Ashton in today for cold and possible sinus/ear infection. We have aour American Girl movie get together today and so we are going right before that!!

Hey ladies!

Well, we hit our goals and get to spend weekends at home again and I should be on a plane now, but that got pushed back to tomorrow. Rick's got a tool audit going at one of the power plants up here and I'm on the team-it'll take another day yet. But I gotta tell ya.....this is the neatest thing I've ever done.....although I hurt all over from yesterday. They're rehabbing and EPA'ing a plant here on Lake Erie so I got put with the boilermaker guys (welders for lack of a better desc) and we crawled and climbed I think almost everywhere to account for tools. Better than any workout I've ever had. My arms and legs hurt and my middle aches(don't know why on that one). But, the funny thing is I'm excited to go back and torture myself again today!:rotfl2:

The view from the upper floors was worth the MANY ladder climbs to get there. Lake Erie can be beautiful on a clear day.

Hope ya'll are doing well. Sheryl, when do you talk to the Doc again? Numby limbs worry me.

And I think it must be a Lori(e) thing on the cars- the Explorer needs to go in too. Something in the electrical system. I'd love to trade it in for an Element but trying to offload a big SUV is near impossible I think.:sad2:

Lori - glad you're able to "enjoy the view". I'm the same way - I love to get out from behind the desk & do some physical work every now & again. It usually shocks most of the guys here when they see this petite thing start flinging around 50lb boxes as I'm trying to rearrange my inventory. Then they know not to mess with me  !

Thought about you & Ms. Marigny this morning when I heard them talking about NOLA's own "running of the bulls" tomorrow in the Quarter. Don't know why, but the visual of a bunch of roller derby babes chasing people through the streets just made me crack up! Shoot, if they want dangerous & threatening, they just need a bunch of sleep-deprived moms pushing strollers!

Although i do not have the greatest "view' at times, but I went into echocardiography to get me out from doing desk work. Funny that the job I have now, although physical, has much too mcuh paperwork!!!

Yeah,.... that's ..... interesting....:lmao:

:rotfl: Gotta love this town!

I actually know one of the Big Easy Rollergirls- she works at Whole Foods. I try to stay on her good side because she could easily beat me up!

And the stroller thing made me laugh- so, so true! :lmao:

Yeah, Rick saw that too. If we get done today we're gonna try to get an earlier flight. I told him go have fun, I'll be waiting with bandaids at the bar.

:lmao:

What, I'm not hard enough on him?!?

:rotfl2:

I had to pull out the newspaper to figure out what the heck y'all were talking about! The biggest surprise was that, this was actually FEMALES & not guys in drag! :rotfl:

Lori, I can't believe you were crawling around a plant, high above Lake Erie! Sounds hard & scary to me!!

I have an appt. next Thursday to discuss the MRI results. Thanks everyone for worrying about me!

Stephanie, Alligator Pear is an usual mix of casual & fancy. The decor is nice, the food is on the fancy side. But you order at the counter, they give you a little buzzer type thing that you put on a stand on your table, it helps the server find your table. Your kids will be fine there, there are tables outside too, if it's cool enough to be out there.

We've decided to fly to DW in Oct. Bob booked flights & we got a bonus. Airfare was half the cost the day before, so he also added a extra night to our trip. We'll stay at All Star Music for one night. For SisIL, it worked out that an extra night at ASM & flying out one day earlier cost about $15 less than flying out the day we had planned. Strange that a Saturday flight was cheaper than on Sunday.
Lori, Hope Ashton feels better soon!

Hey Y'all,

This morning I didn't know anything about the quarter's running of the bulls. Just spoke with DD, her & a bunch of friends are getting all decked for the running tomorrow. They made t-shirts, red bandannas, bought mariachi hats. They are starting the morning at 7:00 with breakfast & sangria!
