Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Hey Y'all,

You girls sure have sure been chatty.

Lorie, Let me know how the dentist appt goes. Alexis has not seen a dentist yet! Yeah I know that's bad, I've been on her Mom about it before. I'll probably have to make the appt. & take her myself. Now she's old enough to get really nervous & scared about it, I'm sure it would have been much better to get her used to it much earlier.

Terry, I definitely think you did the right thing about the kittens! And catching the Mom too. There is nothing good about letting a poor cat run the streets & get pregnant over & over & over again.

Mary, Enjoy the graduation!

Alexis & I spent half the day in the pool. Our 1st swim of the year. She's really doing great with her swimming, she can swim half the length of the pool under water. She can dog paddle & float, but she's best under the water with this strange little mermaid like kick. She keeps her legs & feet together & sort of flutters:confused3 but it works.

Morning ya'll!

I'm packing the bags for the drive back from Maryland to Detroit.

Why, when I was growing up, did I think travelling for work was a sign of success?!?:lmao:

I was crazy.

We head to Houston Friday and home Saturday and head back out Monday.

I will have been home 5 days the month of May.:worried:

I soooooo need those tickers to hurry up and get here!

Morning folks, I missed the gym yesterday, so im off to do that and then at the pool with jack all day!

Have a great day folks!

HI LORI!!!! Long time no see!

Good morning.

Lori, its nice to hear from you. Your trips will be here before you know it.

For all you drivers (Lorie I know you guys drive) - What is the best time to leave for DW and how long does it take?

Hey y'all!

The dentist visit went well- Sienna had a good report, no cavities. She was really, really unhappy about the cleaning though! They are used to that I suppose. Dr Parker was very nice and his staff was great!

For all you drivers (Lorie I know you guys drive) - What is the best time to leave for DW and how long does it take?
We usually leave between 3 and 4 am and get there by 5 pm. This is great because you miss all of the morning traffic and much of the evening traffic! We usually get to Pensacola by breakfast and stop at the rest stop there to eat breakfast pastries and stretch our legs. We stop again for lunch at a rest stop (we pack sandwiches) and drive straight through to Orlando after that. I think we stop twice for gas during the ride there. So adding in the time change, I think it takes about 11-11 1/2 hours. Now we almost always encouter an accident, construction, or some sort of detour along the way, so that slows us down a bit too.

Hey Lori! (BeadPirate) :wave2:

You know, it just bugs the crap out of me when people say little ones are "too young" for WDW and that "they'll never remember it".

They don't remember birthdays or holidays either, but we still celebrate those, right? Vacation should be no different- celebrating fun family time together. And they still have fun while they're there, right? Just like when they go to the park, the zoo, etc.

We took our granddaughter when she was 11 months and at 16 months. She had a great time and so did we! A friend of mine once replied when someone remarked that her daughter would never remember an early trip, that THEY would always remember it! The fun they had and the experiences they gave their daughter would last forever. Our granddaughter Jacie loves to look at the pictures of her two trips to WDW. She asks for them all the time. Maybe a baby of only a few weeks old is too young but personally I don't think even a few months old is too young. If they can notice colors, activity around them and sounds, they can have a great time at WDW, as long as the adults in the party pace themselves to the baby's schedule. That wasn't hard for us. We stay at WDW for 15 days every December and we go back at least once a year so we don't feel the need to cram everything in and can take it slow and easy. That worked out great for Jacie and for us. Plenty of quiet time away from the parks so she didn't experience overload.

Don't worry about the naysayers. Just go and enjoy yourselves.

Terry, I'm glad I'm not the only one with a lot of stuff. I'll see a cute summer outfit, and say "Oh, that's perfect for the trip". Wait til DH sees how much room I'm taking up in the suitcase:lmao:

Lorie, I'm glad the dentist visit went okay. I know you're glad its over.:)

We took our son to WDW when he was little over a month old. He'll never remember it. We went more for us, but we still brought him and enjoyed having him with us.

That bugs me too. There is not really a "too young" b/c I feel they enjoy it in a different way every time we go. Haley was 2 the first time and she was overstimulated on day 1, but we gave her tylenol(:stir: , I know, bad momma!) and she chilled and we were out all day long. The subsequent days we were out all day and she never needed the tylenol again. It was that FIRST look and experience that Disney princesses(we were at CRT) were "real"! She could not get past this-so tylenol it was. She napped in the stroller every day(thankfully, she was that type baby that could sleep almost anywhere). Anyway, we went when she was 2,4, 5, then 8 and all those times were different experiences.Next trip, either 8 again and/or the cruise next year at 10. I will admit that the ages b/t 3-6 years old are the most magical when it comes to princesses for a girl. At least for us. I think this is why my sister(single mom) not letting me take her DD5 with us bothered me so much-she still has no plans to go and is prego w/ #2-a boy.

Have fun!!

Lori

Lorie, Glad the dentist visit went well!

Lori, Sorry you're tired of work travel.

Mary & Terry, Y'all must be getting excited!!!

Our DD's worst age for Disney, was actually at 6 yo! She whined about everything, the heat, the walking, she was tired or thirsty. Very whiney the whole trip. Much better when she was younger & would sleep in the stroller!

I think we are going to a Zephyr's game tonight. A vendor treat with food & drinks on the 1st base line. I hope there is shade.

I'll bet you're glad it's over. I'm glad you like the dentist!:goodvibes

The Delgado baseball coach called Kyle today and invited him to lunch early next week. From what I understand this is the beginning of what Kyle has been waiting for.:hyper:
