Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

We're definitely looking carefully and hoping he'll be recruited in state so that he can use TOPS. If he is not recruited by Southeastern and that's where he ends up he is going to try out, but they are stacked with pitchers.

I keep reminding Johnny & Kyle that "baseball" isn't the reason he's going to college. If he's recruited and can play that will be an added bonus, my main concern is that he get a good education and matures into a well rounded young man.:goodvibes

Kathy, I'm going to pm you about this.

arminie Sorry to hear you have bronchitis. I came down with it the day we left New Orleans on March 18. Probably allergies kicked it off. The cough is still lingering but week before last it was so bad I lost my voice. Luckily my hubby and son went on a Cub Scout camping trip last weekend, so I had 3 days of being quiet. The voice is almost back now.

cajunmommy and shovan thanks for asking about me and the weather. I live in North Garland. It's about 45 mins NE of downtown Dallas. Luckily it was only bad thunderstorms by time it got to us. Most of the bad weather that caused damage was to the west of Fort Worth. And we are about an hour away from Forth worth.

Funny story about bad weather. When we first moved here we lived in an apartment. It had a large balcony with double sliding glass doors. Off the balcony was the laundry room/storage closet. We had some patio furniture on the balcony. Well the first time we had a tornado warning we rushed out to the balcony. Anything we could put in the laundry room we did and anything else we tied down. The people across the way from us were looking at us like we were nuts! LOL I'm from New Orleans. I'm used to hurricane preparing!

Kathy I love stuffed artichokes. The artichokes here don't always look great but when they do I snatch them up. We had a great one at Come Back Inn when we were there in March! I know you must be nuts waiting for all the offers to come in. It's so hard to start getting use to an idea when you have to wait. If for some reason he goes to Dallas, I'll keep an eye on him :)

Shovan Sorry to hear Alexis is not feeling well. Hope all is better soon. And I know what you mean about the weather and asthma. Mine has been acting up. My son, who so far has only been diagnosed with nocturnal asthma, had a bad attack at school today. The school nurse called and was so concerned about the time it would take to get him home and to an inhaler she offered to clean hers with alcohol and let him use it. So I had her do that. His Dr said in the past we would be on a wait and see basis on diagnosing him with full asthma and starting on maintenance meds. One more day time attack and I'm going to take him in. But in the mean time I'm going to send an inhaler to school with him.

Florafauna I love Disneyland. It's so much like Disney Florida but so different. We went in March 06 and March 08. I missed going this year. You will have a fantastic time!!

I hope everyone is having a great Saturday!

Hugs
Jamie

It's officially spring (or would that be almost-summer?) - The neighborhood snoball stand opened yesterday!!!
The stand closest to my house still isn't opened but I did take the kids to another place on Thursday. It's just not the same going to another place. I like the soft ice much better than crunchy. I'm not sure when "our" place will open but I hope it's soon.
Where's Tricia been?

Here I am Kathy. I've just been busy last week with field trips, helping out at the kids school and trying to do a little spring cleaning.

Good morning ladies! Colin's first baseball game of the season is today.

We had a little visitor last night named Isabelle. Her mommy had a date so we babysat. Two yrs old and super cute! She slept with us and is still snuggled up with Chad right now. Bit of a snorer and gassy LOL... like sleeping with a man :rotfl:

Yall have a great day, Ive got a ladies brunch this am and the menu looks delish! Mimosas will be very needed after this game LOL!

My oldest goes there and we have been very happy!

I'm getting ready to stuff them now! They're kinda small but DH will love them anyway he can get them!

We checked into the Dallas college and the tuition is unbelievable!:scared1: I really would like him to stay in state and use TOPS. We had a long talk last night about the fact that baseball may not work out the way he had hoped and his future is our first consideration.:goodvibes

I sure did. They have an excellent baseball program and coach and he'd be staying home!!!!!!:yay:

Good morning, a little chilly here, but BEAUTIFUL:)

DS had a Lacrosse game this morning. I woke up early, and made Belgium waffles. I need to put a little weight on that boy's bones.

I like to soft ice too, Tricia. I got my first snowball of the season last Sunday. It was cherry, my favorite. I have to try the blackberry though.

Kathy, I have never attempted to stuff my own artichokes. My mom does and when she makes them, she makes a lot and brings some over to us. My kids love 'em. I bought one from Rouse's last week. It was very good. I find everything they cook at Rouse's is good:thumbsup2

I am excited about California. As I said before, if it were up to me, we'd go to Orlando every year. This is our year to go somewhere else. We were going to New York, but I was really having the Disney blues.

Have a great Saturday everyone!

I looked for them at Rouse's, already stuffed, and couldn't find any.:confused3 I normally do a dozen at at a time since they freeze so well but these were just too small to fool with a big batch.

Kathy, ask the manager if they ever carry the stuffed artichokes. Since Rouse's took over the Sav A Center here, I've had to ask for some products. They had them the next time I shopped there. One of them was an important thing I really need: Chocolate covered Flipz pretzels:lmao:

hi guys....It is such a beautiful day. DD is going to a sleepover party this afternoon so hubby and I are having a much needed date night.;)

Hope everyone enjoys their day.

I'll do that!!:rotfl2:

Hmmm:rolleyes1 What a lovely thread.....

:dance3: I think it looks familiar.

Maybe I've been here before.......a long, long, long time ago.

 Or maybe it was a dream.....

Howdy ya'll!

:scared1: It's a shock, I know..... but with one thing then another... I never got internet hooked up again. But now with my cell phone going out I get another one that I can cruise the internet on. And at broadband speed. I'm sooooo excited (insert fainting from shock smilie here!)

So, perhaps, if ya'll 'll let me back in, I can come back and chat more often.

Gawd, I've missed all of you!

And we just booked Disneyland Oct 3-5 and F&WF for Oct 24-27. I know Sheryl was planning on sometime around then...any one going to be there then?

It's good to be home (well, curently in Detroit for the week)!:grouphug:

Welcome back Lori, missed you!!!!!!!!! How exciting - a Disneyland trip and a F&WF trip. We're going in Nov and will catch the last two days of F&W.

I hope you & Rick are doing well and I really hope you're back here to stay.:goodvibes

Happy Sunday ladies.

It is another beautiful day. I am guessing by the quietness here that everyone is enjoying the day. :)

Thanks for all of the good wishes. I feel like I am going to live this afternoon. This morning was awful though. I think my medicine Avelox makes me feel worse. It really works on resistant bronchitis, but it makes me very lightheaded after I take it.

My dad keeps telling everyone that I am not going to New Orleans because I am sick - hah. This is just the perfect time to be there.

One of my friends was so sweet - she said she would fly up here and help me drive down if I needed it. Wasn't that nice? I don't mind the drive though as long as I am not dizzy in the mornings like the meds have been making me.

I'm getting my hair cut on Tuesday in LR - I've already cancelled once and I need a haircut so bad.

Kathy, where do you get snowballs? It seems like none of the places near me are open ...

We have a Snowball stand on Berhman Highway right next to Riviera (sp.) Spa Gym. DD had one yesterday.

I am dying for one!!! I know the fruit stand near my house had one, but I don't know if they are open or not....

Good morning ladies!

Lori (BeadPirate) it's so nice to hear from you again. You were missed!

I hope you all had a great weekend. The weather was just beautiful. We (well actually the kids) played outside most of it.
