Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

We don't have our schedule all planned out yet. Usually we'll drive to Lake City the day before our DVC check in & then get up, drive in, check in... all of that stuff & get into the park around 1:00. I'll let you know as soon as it's all worked out. Alexis & her Mom & Dad we'll be there with us, although we won't be hanging together for the whole trip. I forewarned them, F&W is MY THING! And even my cutie--patootie won't drag me away from it for very long! They wanted to go for the MNSSH stuff.

So far, Jenny is the only one who has mentioned trying to be there at the same time. Kathy thought she had it worked out, been then couldn't get the dates. :sad1:

Well, we're bringing our friend Cindy with us. She's leaving her hubby behind in Hammond- he's not that into Disney. But we're staying offsite this time at Crown Plaza over by Universal. With Rick's travels we get club level-yippeeee! So with that and F&WF it should be a grand time-even if we have to shuttle or cab it!

We leave Monday the 27th so I figure Sunday should be our big blow out night.

Ooooh, Club Level at the Crown sounds fancy schmancy!! We'll be back at the BCV, doing a Sun-Fri to save some points.

He not that into Disney????? :confused3 :sad2: I feel sorry for that guy! Especially Disney during F&W Fest!

Hopefully we'll be able to get together on the 26th, we'll see as it get closer.

I finally got a snowball. Had to go all the way to Westwego. Mango flavored, it is so yummy.

Yummo! Did you go to Buck's Snoball Stand? They have been THE PLACE for snowballs in Westwego since I was a kid! It's moved around quite a few times but it's been passed down in the family & has kept the same syrup recipes!

Wow!! Lots of changes here in the past week. We have been camping in Mississippi and it was lovely weather for it. Cold on Sat night but thankful for electric blankets!

Welcome Jamie!! we lived in Plano for a little over 2 years. had kid #1 there and came home about a year after that. We did like Dallas but are happy to be home. It was a long time ago-1996-1998.

Welcome back, Lori- you were missed!! Glad to hear from you and YAY!!! on the Disneyland and Disney World trips!!:thumbsup2

I seriously LOVED Disneyland when we went last year. It has a bit more "something" to it in the MK than WDW-and I love WDW!! Maybe the word is "history", yeah, it has more history!

Kathy-good luck with the college planning. Being a homeschooler and watching others planning for it- can really seem daunting. Hoping for the best fit for your family and him!!

My MIL loves Jiminy and always uses the conscience thing with my kids-too cute. One year, I think when we were in WDW in 2003, I looked all over and finally found a Jiminy watch for her for Christmas. She wears it daily and loves it.

Actually I think that is where we went.

Hi Ladies :)

Its been a crazy week for me so far. It stated off bright and early Sunday Morning when at 5:30am I ended up in the emergency room with asthma. It took 2 breathing treatments and 40mg of prednisone to get it under control. Once I came down from the albuterol high (lol I was so shaky and hyped up it was a little funny :) ) I slept all day into Monday. I'm now one a prednisone does pack and I feel great :)

Monday and Tuesday were quite. Thank goodness! Then at 8:30am, while cooking a pot of red beans and rice (that were smelling great I might add hehe) my stove blew up! I was at my computer and hear a loud bang and thought, no the pot lid couldn't have blown off. I went in to the kitchen and was hearing crackling sounds and this thick black smoke was coming from the stove. I freaked out. Grabbed the fire extinguisher and kept yelling what do I do what do I do. I waited for fire and didn't see any so reached over and turned off the burner. But the surface light was still on. So I was not sure the stove was off. I called my hubby at work and freaked him out. So he came home. Luckily my brain kicked in and I realized I needed to turn off the circuit breakers to the stove. So hubby gets home and I'm still a little shaky but I'm better than I was when I called him. So we head off to Best Buy to get a new stove and vent hood. (this stove was over 30 years old and there was no way in heck I was ever gonna cook on it again LOL). After trying to decided what to buy we went with stove and microwave/vent fan. The installation charges were outrageous but it wasn't something we could do. So we paid it. And went to lunch. Then hubby went back to work

About an hour later I get a call from the school nurse. Chris was having an acute asthma attack. (tis the season huh? :) ) Of course hubby didn't send the inhaler to school on Monday but luckily the Nurse cleaned her personal one off and let him use it. He was much better one he got the second puff. But I called hubby anyway to come home so we could take Chris to the Dr. The Dr still is not gonna put him on a maintenance medication. He wants to wait and see. But he does want Chris to take the albuterol 3 to 4 times a day and especially before exercise or playing. The 2 attacks hes has in a week time were after running.

So we get home and I lay down to take a nap. Only to get a call from the sales guy at Best Buy saying he forgot to schedule the delivery date on the microwave/vent installation and asking that we come back in the store. I was puzzled why we would need to come in the store for this but figured maybe he needed to refund and rering the sale. Well hubby was aggravated that we had to go back in and asked if they even charged us for the installation. Which I might add was $178!! Sure enough they hadn't. So not only did this guy mess up so we had to go back he failed to tell me on the phone that when we got there he was gonna charge us another $178. I was so bugged that I told hubby to go back to the store and unless they are offering the installation free because of the mistake then to return it all. Well he goes in. They did offer 50% off the installation fee but he didn't take it. LOL I would have. But thats ok. I have resigned myself that I will be going a few days more without a stove. Gonna go to Sears on Saturday since they are having a one day sale.

So thats been my week so far. Heres hoping to a quite end of the week

Hugs
Jamie

Wow Jamie, what a week you're having. I hope the rest goes a little smother than the first part. I'm glad to hear you've got the asthma under control. I know how scary that can be.

Good Morning Ladies!

God Bless You Jamie, what a rough couple of days you've had. I'll say a little prayer that things get better real soon!:goodvibes

Lori (Beadpirate) , I'm so jealous Disneyland and Disney World both in the same month! You are gonna be on a Disney high! Where will you be staying when in DL?

Shovan, I'm gald your daughters asthma is almost gone! I do kind of wished Chris's Dr would have started him on a maintenance medication but I also appreciate his wait and see approach instead of just pushing meds. I really trust him so I will wait and see too :)

Grumpy's Wife, Congratulations to Colin. Sounds like you will have a nice party after. Don't forget to buy the kleenex at Sams cus I'm sure you will be tearing up :)

Lori1043, thanks for the welcome :) We like it here too. I still miss New Orleans and family (hmmm well sometimes I'm the youngest of 6 5 of which are girls...with 4 older sisters I can't do anything right :) ) but it does feel like home here now. After all Chris was born here and it's all he's ever known. So I don't see us moving back. Plus If I moved back then where would y'all go if evacuated! Cus y'all all can come here. Providing y'all bring a loaf bunny bread, blue plate mayo and Hubigs! :) :rotfl:

So to you West Bankers... is Luck's snowballs still open. It was on Stumph way back when. Thats where I would always go.

Ok help me out what does WFD stand for? :)

Hugs
Jamie

I'm pretty sure it means What's For Dinner. There is a thread on the community board that Kathy and some others from here post on about recipes and stuff.

Ahhh thanks for the info. Hmm what's for dinner at my house for the next few days? Anything that doesn't require a stove or oven LOL :)

Grumpy's Wife and Kathy thanks for the well wishes :)

Sounds like it's been a bad asthma season for a bunch of people. I am finally better - not totally well but good enough to go get my haircut and go to the grocery store.

I really felt bad asking my sister to pick up stuff at the grocery store - she's lost 74 pounds on this fasting program through our local hospital. She can eat non-starchy vegetables and limited fruit - but that's it except for her 5 packets a day.

Sheryl - thanks for the advice on the avelox. I am allergic to so many anti-biotics. About 25 years ago (before I knew I had asthma) I was hospitalized for 2 weeks with pneumonia - truly thought I was going to die as I got worse long before I started to get better. They kept telling me I was allergic to everything that they used to treat it with. I can only take the avelox later in the day for some reason -but it did work.

Sheryl - you've mentioned that you have fibro. Don't know if I've ever said that I have chronic fatigue. I fortunately do not have the pain issues that you do, but it will take me longer to get back up to speed from this bronchitis/pneumonia.

Strwlady - we had to live without electricity for a few days after the tornado. Try a roast chicken from the grocery store - use the leftover with bagged salad for a second meal (if you have leftovers). I lived in Dallas twice - still have family there. I had a TX drivers license for about 20 years. I worked for Texas Instruments, Republic Bank (long gone) and EDS - computer work before I moved to California in 1989.
