Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Lorie - You guys did an incredible job, I LOVE her room!!!! I always wanted to do a little girls room but never got to.....sports, sports, sports.;)

Okay, here are some pics of DD's bedroom (she has officially moved in :sad1: )

I had to take a closeup of the window because I worked a long time on those, getting them to work properly and finding the proper hardware for them was a pain in the butt!!

OH WOW!!!! :thumbsup2 :worship: I LOVE IT!!! I know you must have worked your butt off in that room. But gosh, it was so worth it! That color really works in there, it makes everything just pop! Now it really shows off all of that great woodwork, the windows and your pretty floor! Lorie, your house & yard are really looking wonderful! I know after everything y'all have been through with it, having it look so nice, must feel great!!!

I really like the furniture too! I remember a girlfriend had that style furniture in her room when we were teenagers. She had a "dressing table" like that, I was so jealous of it! Funny thing was she hated it because it was old & said I could have it. But her Mom was a lot smarter than she was, so I never did get my fancy dressing table.

And Sienna gets prettier & prettier with every new pic we see! Those curls in her hair, are just gorgeous!

No worries on the pic size, it's let's us see all the details, like her cute little red shoes! ( I've found that sometimes the photobucket resizing works & other times it just won't! so I don't even bother with it anymore. )

I forgot to mention how beautiful Miss Sienna is, she really is getting big Mom!!!!

Love large pics too!!!!

Lorie, I love Sienna's room. It is beautiful and something she can grow into. I love her tea set. Brings back memories. I'll bet she loves her new room. She is so cute:cutie:

That's great Kathy and Sheryl, that ya'll will get to meet up.

Lucas, I am glad you had some great New Orleans food:thumbsup2

Thanks! I hope that maybe one day I'll get to do a boy's room as well- should be fun! If not, Sienna will just be a spoiled only child...or she'll have to share with an annoying little sister. ;)

Oh God, we really worked our butts off on that room (mostly me ;)), I can't even tell you. The thing is, I can't even blame Katrina for that room- we did nothing with it since we bought the house, and over time junk just kept building up in there until you couldn't even walk in it. :headache: I vow to never let anything like that happen again!

As for the furniture, I refinished that too, also a pain. It is Sienna's though to keep now- if she wants take it with her when she gets older, great. If she wants to leave it behind, that's fine too. But she's never getting rid of it- I worked to hard on it for her to give or throw it away!

That's exactly what I had in mind when I did the room- something she could grow into. Nothing too cutesy, no characters, etc. I wanted something that she'll like for awhile- I don't plan to take on another project like this for a long time! :rotfl: And she LOVES her room and had zero problem transitioning into it. I was the one who had that problem.

Lorie you did a great job on Sienna's room. It's so adorable. I love her little red shoes next to her bed.

Lorie, With all the damage to your house, believe me, you can blame Katrina for the mess in one room! I know I am, and our house was unscathed compared to your's! Our spare room is soo bad right now, I literally have to turn sideways to walk through the junk! And I am still blaming it on Katrina! It started with piling up of boxes of papers, photos, etc. that I had packed up to protect from the storm. Then DH's Mom passed right after & tons of boxes of her papers went in there. And it just keeps getting worse! It's so bad now, I'm waiting to enlist DSIL for help, because my back will never handle moving all of that stuff!

I can't believe you refinished that furniture too! I know that was hard work, but it sure came out beautiful! :thumbsup2

That is so awesome!!!! Thanks for posting.:goodvibes

I just spoke with my Mom (who lives in Westwego) she knows that family. But didn't know about that! She said " Darn it, that's cause I missed my last 2 Beautification Committee meetings! " Good thing I called her, and now she's heading out the door to go have a look! She will also make it to her meeting tonight! She said the family's name is pronounced Youzee. I found more info on that & they are going to be building 3 homes on that one large lot! All is 7 days!

Okay, I was organizing all of the pics on my computer and just noticed a closeup pic of my face...

WHERE DID ALL OF THOSE WRINKLES COME FROM??? :scared1: :faint:

I'm guessing I should start using more moisturizer? I honestly never thought about this until now. I must have the magic mirror in my bathroom because I never noticed them before. Is there any hope, or is this a genetic thing (like stretch marks :headache: )? Or do I just accept as a part of getting older?

Is this a normal freak-out moment that all women go through?

Well, as Mary Kay consultant, I could tell you NO that shouldn't be happening at your age & you need lots of skin care products!! But yeah, honestly it's happened to all of us! I have to warn you, DON'T buy a light up super magnifying mirror! It's just plain scary!

Oh and I can help you with some great skin care products! You did know that I'm really 65 right! ;) ;)

Seriously though genetics play a major part, so take at look at your family.

A couple of things I have learned from 23 years in Mary Kay is sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!

Lorie, I forgot, Alexis said Sienna's room is BEEUUTIFUL!!! She did ask if it was for a "BIG GIRL LIKE HER?" When she saw Sienna's picture, she said "That is really a nice room for a baby!"

Hi guys....

Lorie I love the room...DD just got rid of the butterflies for more blue stuff. Ms. Sienna is definately getting bigger!

I have to admit, I'm bad about the sunscreen- I really need to work on that. And darn it, genetics will do me in, on my mother's side in particular. Looking at that pic of me was like looking at my mother's skin. :headache: I got my mother's stretch marks too, which my OB commented on when I was pregnant with Sienna. I got really bad stretch marks with her fairly early on in the pregnancy, and my OB said she bet my mother had the same stretch marks- yep, she does! :sad2:

I'm going to slather on my shi-shi pumpkin renewing cream right now!

And that's too cute that Alexis approves of Sienna's room. Big girl opinions are the most important of all! princess:

Good Morning and Happy Friday! :cutie:

We lost power during the night. How about any of you? Kendall comes and wakes me up to tell me the power went out.:sad2: She sleeps with her TV on and couldn't sleep without it. The good thing is that the kids are off of school today so I didn't have to get up at 5:00 this morning.

Morning - yes it is a nasty morning...Alysia woke up calling for me as well because of the loud rain.

Hey ya'll!!! It is yucky and we ahve a BUSY day ahead, but I had to share-Ashton is 5 years off chemo today. That just mneans that she has as much a chance of getting leukemia as the next kid-don't know how reassuring that is, since we had it already, BUT I know it is good and that she is healed!! The oncologist will never tell us that juicy word, "cured" but here she is, here we are and voila!! I am doing the DANCE!!!:cool1:  :worship:  :cool1: :dance3: :yay: :cheer2: and cleaning!:laundy:

Be careful out there!

Lori

Hurray for Ashton! This calls for a party.
